I need some recommendation for some power metal, at the moment I'm digging Dragonforce, Sonata Artica, and Blind Guardian too. Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated
|
Iced Earth
Edguy Nightwish Rhapsody Hammerfall Helloween All good choices. |
Angra
Rhapsody Edguy Nightwish Stratovarius |
Pretty much any power metal band is good. I haven't found one I don't like yet.
|
Magic Kingdom
Forgotten Tales |
I haven't seen any power metal bands live yet. I feel ashamed. :upset:
|
How do you guys like Dragonlord?
|
dragonforce, nightwish annd pagans mind are probably the best Power metal bands there is.
|
I've *ahem* acquired a few songs from Hammerfall and Lost Horizon. In addition to the usual metal influences, I think I can hear a little Peter Gabriel in Joaquin Cannes.
I have to get some albums by these guys. **** it, I need a job. |

No, I feel compelled to spend the money to support artists. I use file-sharing as a sampler, a preview as it were. That way, I don't have to rely on radio singles of dubious quality.

Gotcha. If I had a job, I'd buy way more CDs than I do...but money is tight. Edit: Trying to think of a HF CD to recommend...I'd say get Crimson Thunder first. |
Ok, at the moment I'm trying to find some stuff by an Australian band called Dungeon. I'm told their Power Metal, so i figured here would be the best place to get some song recommendations, and hopefully places to get them. Thanks for any help:thumb:

thats what i do, listen to the singles on radio / mtv, then sample a couple of others via filesharing. then buy the album. |

well if you still count iron maiden as power metal then theyre the only power metal band ive seen live....fvcking awesome. also, HammerFall seem to have a lot of maiden influences, and do an aces high cover. compare hammerfall vocals to maiden vocals and you'll see what i mean. |
I'm watching Nightwish's site like a hawk. The instant the tickets go on sale for the Worcester, Maryland show, I'm buying the best **** seats I can afford.

I wish I had the money to see them or any other Power Metal band. |
It was horrific. I felt defiled. The song was called "nova era".
That's a great song. While I agree that the vocals are gay, that's what's so great about it. |

I don't even have the money to buy power metal CDs -import prices +++++ |
This is like the 710th post so it's possible that someone has mentioned this band before but just today I purchased Demon's & Wizards self titled album. It's a side project of Hansi Kursch from Blind Guardian and Jon Schaffer of Iced Earth. It's pretty bad. Mark Prator from Iced Earth plays drums on the album too but he's not a permanent member of the band.

I haven't heard any of them. If it's with Hansi it sounds worth while checking out. |

It's a pretty cool album. It's basically Iced Earth with Hansi on vocals and Blind Guardian-ish melodies. It also contains 'Fiddler on the Green', which is the most emotional song ever in the history of time. And yes, I'm serious about that.
That's a great song. While I agree that the vocals are gay, that's what's so great about it.
Bah! The vocals are not 'gay', unless you mean gay as in happy. In which case yes, they are quite gay. Also, don't mind Dargon. If it's not fast and mindless he doesn't like it. Angra kicks ***, by the way *points to user title* |
I need more money to buy power metal cd's. Well tmoz is christmas, and ive got an 150 quid paying gig on New Years Eve OmG teH GoDz!
Nightwish, Iced Earth and DragonForce cd's here we come. |

Fiddler on the Green is a crazy cool song. No matter what, if I listen to that album I always have to listen to it. The accoustic parts are great and Hansi's voice is just perfect to give it sort of a rich but at the same time eerie tone. I bought the album yesterday and I can't stop listening to it. Also another band which im not sure counts as power metal but has some really good vocal harmonies is Into Eternity I think they are almost progressive thrash, but the vocals have a hint of the power metal feel to them. (slightly off topic) |
Into Eternity are a really cool band. They're the band with two vocalists, the higher pitched power metal one and the growl-y death metal one, correct?

Actually, what's interesting about that is all 5 members sing. The singer does both the high death metal vocals and the power metal tones. one of the guitarist does the low death metal vocals and then the bassist, drummer, and the second guitarist all sing backups. Mainly clean backups I think. |

Ah, that’s cool then. I think it's really kickass when all the members in a band can sing, it really adds something to the music. Anyways, I've only heard a couple songs by this band. Could anyone recommend some good songs of theirs to check out? |

Well I suggest any song off Buried in Oblivion. I haven't heard too much of their other two albums. If you like the clean then go for Black Sea of Agony. The Guitarist does some sick clean vocal harmony. My personal favorite is the song 3 Dimensional Aperture. EDIT: Dio owns |

I'm just wondering, what really is defined as power metal?
