RunAmokRampant 12-09-2008 10:38 PM

it's been like this for a while.

RunAmokRampant 12-10-2008 05:45 AM

oh and Tojes is the only mod that ever posts here as well. Idk why there are two others mods, they don't do anything anymore.

kitsch 12-10-2008 11:49 AM

hmm i remember back in about 05, i would post song lyrics from my "band". i thought some of them were pretty funny, but i think subtle eventually banned that account for it.

anyone know what happened to him?

RunAmokRampant 12-10-2008 05:01 PM

he stopped posting a while back. Think he's busy with his post-rock projects or something.

TojesDolan 12-10-2008 05:10 PM

He wants all his posts to be deleted from the boards. :)

On a related note, I check i as much as I login to sputnik (which is rarely) but I do crits every now and then and check in for spam bots and **** like that.

Surf 12-10-2008 06:46 PM

Kind of stopped posting stuff because now it counts towards my degree and they're not too hot on getting outside help considering its all meant to be my own work.

I'm here everyday though, just mostly post in the uk thread.

I crit occasionally too, but usually only if something catches my eye or if I know the person or whatever

ahh, i see
theyre that strict on that kinda stuff hmm
whats your degree going to be

Surf 12-10-2008 06:53 PM

well I'd rather not risk it.

If I hand something in and they google it or whatever, then it might come up and I'd have to explain it.

I'm doing an English Lit degree, but with mostly creative writing modules including a creative dissertation.

so I have hardly any hours a week and no real job opportunities

kitsch 12-10-2008 07:06 PM

yea it sucks because i think im going to major in english but ill probably end up with the same job i have now (sales associate at a department store)

RunAmokRampant 12-11-2008 12:12 AM

I've just completed my degree in Professional Writing, and yeah Surf I know what you mean by putting stuff here that's going to be used for assessment. I generally put stuff up after it's been assessed and continue redrafting, changing etc the assessed work from the critiques I get here lol.

@Tojes: He wants all his posts deleted? Why would he care?

Surf 12-11-2008 12:24 PM

if subtle gets his posts deleted what'll happen to the writing thread?

edit: just checked and he's marked down as a guest so nothing's actually changed.

if i wait that long i usually don't like what ive written so i give up and start again.

is there a writing thread, for like prose and stuff? cause im working on a book.

RunAmokRampant 12-14-2008 06:44 AM

not that I know of. There was like a short story comp in the Pit a while ago but that fizzled out.

catharsis 12-14-2008 01:47 PM

my attempts at short stories (because they never got much farther than that) are all dissatisfying and heavy-handed.

I'm likely going to school for something writing related.

i liked that thread. it was a nice break from all the poetry.

i was wondering if we could try something new in the LC forum. alongside the regular lyrical challenges, how about a flash fiction competition (flash fiction is typically 500-1000 words or less). i think it would be fun, especially for those who like to write prose, but don't have the time or energy for a full-on story.

RunAmokRampant 12-14-2008 11:19 PM

I'm up for that.
