Anyone know of any good songs (suitable to play for a class presentation) about the genocides in Sudan/Rwanda?

sweboy 02-23-2005 03:24 PM

Rancid - Rwanda?

Maybe not. It rocks though, and has a suiting name.

I was thinking adagio for strings (from Platoon) but thats been way overdone.
Hmm... Hallelujah, Jeff Buckley version?

I went to my school's radio station today and found out that there's a weekly show called "The Truth" where they play almost every genre of music you can stomach. I heard "Master of Puppets," Ray Charles, some early 90s gangsta rap, AC/DC, "Bark at the Moon," and some indie rock band I was unable to identify and you'd probably all smack your heads and groan if you heard it because it's probably obvious to many of you. Anyway, all the other radio shows are pretty rigidly structured by genre, and I was pleased to hear one with fewer boundaries.

Iai 02-23-2005 05:14 PM

When I get a radio show at university, that's what it's gonna be like.

And I'm gonna broadcast it online and force you all to listen to it.

Zappa 02-23-2005 05:16 PM

I'm generally not a big Coltrane fan, and certainly not much of a Trane endorser, but the album pictured in my avatar has really siezed my attention. It also has quite a pretty cover.

Then I'm going to request "That APC song, y'know... Imagine! Yeah that's it!"

Nice avatar Zapp, as always. Very cool.

At this point, I will be forced to declare to the whole campus that you just got neg rep'd.

It's good. You should fix the blurriness, though.

Do you know which university you're going to yet?

Or even, does anyone else know what university he'll be going to?

Wanker 02-23-2005 06:25 PM

Nah man, it's either Shakermaker or Slide Away.

Yeah, I never go into pop-punk anymore. We used to reign supreme in there!

crazyGUITARnDRUMgal 02-23-2005 07:53 PM

anyone here know anything about playing a/the tabla??

JonM 02-23-2005 07:57 PM

I got a friend who's a Sikh and he plays like mad. I'll ask him what it entails, since all I know about it is that it sounds impossibly difficult.

pixiesfanyo 02-23-2005 07:57 PM

I play pool on a table.

ColdFire 02-23-2005 07:59 PM
Yeah, I never go into pop-punk anymore. We used to reign supreme in there!
I know. I've kind of calmed down. I'm not the posting fiend I once was.

Electrocution 02-23-2005 08:04 PM
