Power violence is stuff like Charles Bronson and Spazz, I'm sure you've heard either of those?

I didn't see Palatka as more emotional than those, maybe it has to do with lyrical matter, I don't think Palatka sing about killing people or beating up gays or people who like Epitaph

deadohiosky9 02-26-2006 10:31 PM

maybe it does have to do with lyrical matter. i've also only seen "emo violence" used a substitute for "screamo", either way its s.hit.

Brain Toad 02-26-2006 10:33 PM

I see it used as a substitue, but I also see it as a completely different genre, usually for bands that are lot heavyier than bands that get the screamo label.

Regardless, Palatka were pretty good, but not that much of my cup of tea.

Mattfanatic 02-26-2006 10:40 PM

i like just sticking with emo

deadohiosky9 02-26-2006 10:45 PM

palatka were a pretty good band, some of their songs were just too short though. the only band that seems to have mastered the short song technique is Ampere.

Mattfanatic 02-26-2006 10:49 PM

i used to think that the first like four songs off of all our tommorows end today were just one song

deadohiosky9 02-26-2006 10:50 PM

hahahaha, they can blend together i guess.

Mattfanatic 02-26-2006 10:52 PM

well on itunes for a while i had that overlap option on so i just never realized that they were different songs

Brain Toad 02-26-2006 10:57 PM
i like just sticking with emo
I've adopted that too, was just wondering where the name emo violence came into play.

I enjoyed Palatka's split with Asshole Parade, but Asshole Parade's side was better.

Hey DFel I'm hanging out with a nice girl on Friday. She is very pretty.
Poor decision on matt's part.
hahaha :p

Matt? 02-26-2006 11:54 PM

today i got stuck selling merch for my friends band, and there was this one shirt that was so small that i didn't think anyone would fit in it, so there was this girl there and i hit on her and made her try it on and she bought it

it looked nice on her and she wasn't abnormally skinny either

AIRIC 02-26-2006 11:55 PM

I watched female figure skating in the Olympic Center on Saturday.

SGlove 02-26-2006 11:57 PM

Did you pork in the backseat of somebody's car?

Matt? 02-26-2006 11:57 PM

theyre alright, sort of like shoegaze but with lots of old beatlesish blues stuff

they use very cliche chord progressions i guess but it's still alright

there was a better band that played, a video game metal band. they have an ace starfox corneria cover

Good ol' power violence for ya'.

whiteminority 02-27-2006 06:52 AM
I think the reason that In/Humanity first used the term is because it was laughing at the fact that the particular grind infused screamo that they and other bands were playing had a particular violence to it so instead of labelling themselves screamo like bands like Heroin and Antioch Arrow they made a joke out it.
They were also making fun of the terms power violence and emo.

Matt? 02-27-2006 11:19 AM

nice one time i fell asleep with ampere playing on repeat

deadohiosky9 02-27-2006 01:09 PM

i'm digging Fugazi right now.

RetiredAt21 02-27-2006 01:12 PM

I've never really been "into" Fugazi, I always got bored with them.

deadohiosky9 02-27-2006 01:14 PM

some of their s.hit is boring, but 13 songs is pretty damn good.

Matt? 02-27-2006 01:38 PM
