Liberi Fatali 11-03-2005 02:39 AM

DJ Shadow - The Private Press
Damien Rice - O
John Martyn - On the Cobbles
John Martyn - Bless the Weather
James Taylor - Sweet Baby James

I'm a sucker for the singers/songwriters.
I see. Do people here not like that? I'm a pretty big Roses and MBV fan myself, and I like this record a lot.
It wasn't a dig on the band (I like them a lot), just an indie in-joke of some kind.

I'm digging Krysytof Penderecki's Matrix 5, in light of the fact that I'm writing an essay on the nature of music, and whether avantgarde pieces can actually be considered music. It's due in in a little under 3 hours. 200 words left.

Mastodon- "Megalodon"
The Fall of Troy- "Ghostship Part Four"
The Replacements- Let It Be

I need more songs from those first two bands, but I'm never home to rip my brother's copies of Doppleganger and Leviathan onto my computer. And even if he's home, the CDs are not

Interstate 11-03-2005 03:01 PM

Biffy Clyro - Blackened Sky

Currently diggin' Iron And Wine - Endless Numbered Days. I can't believe how little amount of times I've played this record compared to The Creek Drank The Cradle.

Iai 11-03-2005 03:20 PM

Entirely healthy amounts of Kate Bush.

WhereAmI? 11-03-2005 03:21 PM

Amnesiac- Radiohead
A Ghost is Born- Wilco
Cash- Johnny Cash (last album)

all great discs to listen to when I'm feeling 'a little ****ed up'

HELLO FORUM

Over the past month, i've been diggin' copious amounts of Tindersticks, 'cos man they are absolutely incredibly fu'cking good.

And i've discovered how good Tom Waits is, and how DREADFUL Joanna Newsom is.

And as always, i've been listening to the Kinsella brothers projects (American Football etc), cos they are orgasmic. Metaphorically, of course.

Today i've listened to:

Talk Talk - Laughing Stock
Saccharine Trust - We Became Snakes
Husker Du - Flip your Wig

A good day it was.

BillCosby 11-03-2005 05:17 PM

The four Velvet Teen songs I've managed to dig up from the internet.
The Decemberists - Picaresque
Pixies - Doolittle

Little Man being Erased 11-03-2005 05:20 PM

Last night I listened to:

Kashmir - Zitilites
Iron On - Oh the Romance

And I've got some Coltrane on the cards for today.

The Great Decay 11-03-2005 05:33 PM

Today's listening has consisted mostly of Radiohead.

Electrocution 11-03-2005 05:50 PM

I made a playlist called "Screamown," so I've been listening to that.

Zappa 11-03-2005 06:34 PM

I've decided that Mahler's first symphony is one of my favorite things in the whole world.

Mahler is great.

Yo La Tengo - Prisoners of love

My first listen to Yo La Tengo. It's pretty good. So far I haven't been super impressed by anything.

Painful is being mailed to me soon. Does that count?

Dog 11-03-2005 07:09 PM

I Can Hear the Heart Beating as One is the YLT album you need to get. Fakebook and Painful are both great, too.

Happymeal 11-03-2005 07:12 PM

ICHTHBAO really bored me a lot the first time through, but now I'm quite fond of it.

Rahsaan Roland Kirk
Explosions in the Sky

Okay, I feel better now.

Zappa 11-03-2005 07:43 PM

Maurice Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major.

I love romantic music so.

JonM 11-03-2005 07:56 PM

Ravel is one of my faves. Have you heard his String Quartet in F? Oh man.

Zappa 11-03-2005 08:06 PM

I'm downloading an album of the Berg String Quartet playing that piece and a Debussy Quartet. I hope I get it all tonight.

I have the three songs left off of the DNOTD compact disc version. Mr. Robot's Holy Orders has the coolest bassline so it is therefore my favorite :)

(you can get it from corndogs.org in case you didn't know)

"The Sunken Cathedral"

\m/

I'm familiar with two of his pieces, Sunken Cathedral and Prelude to the Afternoon of The Fawn. I love the former and dislike the latter.
