bottlerocket 02-02-2006 03:28 PM

Eh, I'm sitting here doing homework...:(

I wish my bass was out of the shop. The truss rod was acting funny so I brought it in...I tried adjusting it but it was all screwy.

Hey, i got a new bass lead today, i found my self playing bass a lot more today.

I think part of the reason ive practicaly stoped is my lead was knackerd and would only work when it was in at a certian angle, so i didnt bother coz i hate playing without an amp on, so i got a new one, and new picks. YAy.

Gnarmageddon 02-02-2006 03:41 PM

I am due for some new bass strings. Mine are gross.

Untitled 02-02-2006 03:43 PM

I could do with new ones, i love the tone you get from new strings for the 1st month or so, but i cant afford to replace them every month, so i do about every 6 haha.

You should boil them every once in a while Butler, it gives them a nice new-sounding tone.
I could probably do with boiling mine this weekend.

Guys...when you find the right gift...money is no object right?

So how much should I expect to spend on 2 tickets to a soldout show that were $25 to begin with? :-\

Depends on the band.

A lot of bands we look on Ebay for are origonaly £20 for 2 tickets, but go up to £50ish, so id say the price will properly double.

bottlerocket 02-02-2006 03:51 PM

Boiling actually makes your strings frailer and weaker, from what I've read...

...but don't listen to me; I'm just the bass forum mod.

I sparked a bass discussion now.

Vince: If you can get the tickets and its a gift for someone special, do whatever you can...if you can't get them, no big deal. I'm sure they'll understand.

Haha, well it's a local band playing in their hometown, except they're big. The show is over 1 month away though and it's already sold out so I'm nervous as hell :(

$100 is a lot of money but this gift would be soooo worth it. There's 2 listings for them right now, both @ $41 for the 2, but 6 days left :(

Gav: I've heard the same but I'm not a bassist so I figured I was just wrong.

But yeah, they're for my gf for V-day and she loves this band. Like in an ungodly "you're not allowed to talk when their music is on" way.

Ive spoke more about bass in this one page then i have in the bass forum this year :-/, ah well, i actully know crap all thats usefull.

Vince: Do everything you can...if you can't...well...just tell her you tried. I'm sure she'll understand. :)

Butler: Yeah, we miss you over there...:(

What band(s), Vince?

Dead Star 02-02-2006 04:09 PM

So I've just sat for about 2 hours cleaning out a cupboard.

Hurrah for moving.

Yay, Jamie has moved!

I had a pretty fun day. I got to sleep in, somewhat, Alex came over and we played some Need For Speed:Most Wanted, then we watched my favourite movie ever, The Butterfly Effect. Pretty interesting day.

The OC tonight! :p

True, but it gets a nice sound for a while until you can afford a new set of strings. That's just my opinion anyway.

Sounds great. :p

Butler: I see you're posting there again. :D

What show?

I never really got into modern video games...anything N64 and before that was awesome (SNES, NES, Genesis, Game Boy, etc.) was awesome but PS2 and all that...eh...not a big fan. It's OK, but people but so much emphasis on graphics and ignore game content.

Halo is pretty sweet, though.

What was that?

That's the sound of your testicles falling off and ovaries growing inside you. :)

No, I'm kidding...but I never got into the OC. I watched it and I felt like I was in a coma.

Yeah, you definitely get that "new string" sound, but don't do it on strings like Elixers that are coated...and don't do it more than once. They become really brittle. The "new string" sound only lasts for a few days, too, and then they begin to deaden quickly.

Haha, im posting in the threads that dont actully help out people of stuff though :smash:

Im watching a show on the Challanger space ship blowing up, and how people thaught it would happen, like enginers and stuff, but they sent it up.

I love all games consoles pretty much too.
