Haha, that actually made me laugh out loud

And thanks for the tips, I suck at tweaking my tones.. Hehe
So I cut down the treble a bit, and played tighter (it wasn't the distortion, it was my playing lol) and now it sounds like this:
http://s10.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=28832UJSQ8GWL34G7Y3EHJ742J
The tone is better now, right? hehe.. Any more ideas?
Can you send me each part seperately? (singing, whisper, guitar). Im interested in messing about with the whipser/singing effect

Futuro 06-18-2005 12:30 PM

hmmmm...i think i have the track but itll take me a while to find it.

in other news i ditched the stinkfist for tonight because while i was practicing i found an awsome groove thats a 21/16, 23/16 repeating groove with a wierd polyrythm over it( i believe a 5/8, 6/8 repeating) and im gonna record that for the DandP forum.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-18-2005 12:31 PM

Hey Dave- Me and you should record a Tool song with your pristine recording equipment. :D

For those of you who don't know. (umm, I assume everyone) AimlessDave is from the same area as me. He's got an entire studio-esque deal at his house, probably similair to Matter's.

Lateralias 06-18-2005 12:32 PM
HOLY CRAP!!! this has nothing to do withTtool but i heard that band kyuss this morning....OMG it was awsome as hell!! the songs were called Molten Universe and Deamon Cleaner. really cool shiz. Molten universe has this awsome riff through the entire song.....but it didnt get boring....it was awsome (i suck at explaining things) if you are a fan of tool you will most likely enjoy Kyuss.
Yeah Kyuss are awesome, I tried to introduce them to someone in this thread.. can't remember who but their sound kinda reminds me of Tool yet they have there own heavy unique sound.

I could upload more kyuss for you if you want?

By the way, good job on Lateralus, it'll sound even better with the guitar and bass added in. :thumb:

Dried Muffin Remnants 06-18-2005 12:32 PM

Yo Faith... you're insane. Could we hear some more of your chops? You have any solos or anything?
I could upload more kyuss for you if you want?
Please do!

Futuro 06-18-2005 12:33 PM

what cd is molten universe on??

Lateralias 06-18-2005 12:34 PM
Reeder also auditioned for Metallica. You owe it to yourself to find a copy of "Welcome to Sky Valley" if you are a fan of rock, friend.
Don't forget about Blues for the Red Sun.. but WtSV is better for getting into and comfortable with Kyuss though so...

Lateralias 06-18-2005 12:35 PM
what cd is molten universe on??
Blues for the Red Sun :)

and Molten Universe is just the intro to an awesome song called 50 Million Year Trip

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-18-2005 12:37 PM

The song I've heard was from Blues for the Red Sun. I beleive it was you, Lateralias, that uploaded it for me. :D Could you upload Demon Cleaner? I wanna hear it, since it's soo awesome. At least that's what I hear.

Futuro 06-18-2005 12:38 PM

AN INTRO??? that was one cool azz intro.
Can you send me each part seperately? (singing, whisper, guitar). Im interested in messing about with the whipser/singing effect
Actually there's 4 vocal tracks, hehe.. Want me to upload them all?

Lateralias 06-18-2005 12:41 PM

It definitely is awesome.. and probably is the most Tool sounding :)

Demon Cleaner and 2 other songs.. the tracks on the WtSV have songs grouped so you'll hear 2 other Kyuss songs and then Demon Cleaner will be the last.. I tried to cut the other two out but it's a WMA file and Audacity doesn't support WMA files.. sorry if it's a long DL guys

Err, wow. If you did it in Adobe Audtion, just send me the session file. If not, upload as many as you deem necessary

denboy 06-18-2005 12:45 PM

Argh.. Why can't I find my lateralus cd?.. I never can find the cd's I want to hear :/

Kage 06-18-2005 12:47 PM

I also seem to have misplaced my Lateralus disc. Damn it, I really want to listen to it.

Futuro 06-18-2005 12:49 PM

hmmmm...windows media can solve you problems guys.....RIP button :p
Err, wow. If you did it in Adobe Audtion, just send me the session file. If not, upload as many as you deem necessary
You're getting three of the tracks then.. I'm pretty sure the vocals on the real song are double tracked, one track for each speaker.. And.... Adobe Audition? Isn't that the same as cool edit pro? if so, here's the files http://s5.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=30ZIBBU0Q5RZ82P1B0IS69AAOG

Adam Jones is GOD 06-18-2005 12:50 PM

C'mon, you people should have pretty big hard drives, what you got sitting on them apart from music?

Im pretty sure that I want you to share it though whatever it is :)

denboy 06-18-2005 12:51 PM
hmmmm...windows media can solve you problems guys.....RIP button :p
I already have it ripped, but it's so boring to listen to it on computer speakers when I have the abillity to listen to it in surround

Mr Herb 06-18-2005 12:53 PM

I hate Blair. A news letter about area 51. WTF. Someimes I wish tool were like coldplay and whore themselves around in television and magazines and **** and do like a zillion interviews. But o well.

Do you still have that Holy Gift mp3? Mine got erases, so if you could, could do you upload it for me please?

if they did, they would soon lose the mystery that makes them awesome.

I really do think Blair will tell us when there is some major change. At the moment all he could probably do each week is say 'they're still working on songs, still practising every day'. And he's made that clear plenty of times.

There should be an update soon though I imagine

Err, it might be around somewhere, but I wont risk uploading it tonight, my computer is being stubborn and crashing every hour, so it wont upload properly. Remind me tommorrow and ill do it

Dried Muffin Remnants 06-18-2005 12:59 PM

Third Eye while drunk or high.
Merkaba if you're tripping.

I tried the latter last night. That song was MADE for listening while tripping.

Mr Herb 06-18-2005 12:59 PM

He knows tons more, but he cant say it. And yeah the mystery is cool and stuff.

I just noticed apc and tool use Les Pauls, the sweetest guitars ever

Even if I did have it ripped on my computer, I'm still worried about it because I can't stand the thought of me losing the actual disc of one of my favorite CDs.

And on this computer, I've only got 35 GB, 33 of which is taken up with music files already. :p

Dried Muffin Remnants 06-18-2005 01:14 PM

Yo Faith, did you like Danny's older faster, stuff with Tool or his newer, almost tribal style stuff from Lateralus?

Futuro 06-18-2005 01:17 PM

33gigs of music....????? theres gotta be some hanson and mariah carey in a collection like that right??

:edit: (to post above me) from a technical point of view his stuff from 96' on was more free form style playing like king crimson so i would have to choose that. but when looking at it from a listeners point of view (non-musician) some people will disagree with me by saying the faster you play the more impressive, which is totally wrong, there has a lot of great drummers that have stayed in the pocket the whole time, and hardly ever do a chopfest, im not saying Danny Carey puts on his "Chop-o-rama" suit when he plays nowadays cause he always keeps the rhythm well. he found alot of his playing from stuff like Tribal Tech (Danny played with Kirk Covington of Tribal tech at the Modern drummer fest.) which incorperates more rhythmic aspects and his godly tribal tendencies, so definetly have to say the later stuff from tool.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-18-2005 01:19 PM

Man. Fuck. Here's my recent legacy with Stinkfist.

Yesterday-12:00- learned 1st 3 minutes of Stinkfist
Yesterday-1:00- recorded and uploaded 1st 3 minutes
Yesterday-1:30- learned and recorded all of Stinkfist
Yesterday-3:00- realized there is too much flange effect

Today-10:00 fixed tone to perfection
Today-10:30 attempted to record Stinkfist, got halfway and ws interrupted by my mom
Today- 10:45 attempted again, but was interrupted by my dad this time.
Today: 11:30 attemped again, but I didn't pull it off well enough.

Jesus. Yesterday, I did 2 nearly flawless takes consecutively, and now I can't even get one!
CHEERS and a shot of JD from the entire Tool family to the mad scientist inventor of the "Dimension Beam", DC's electronic drums and something else, the nature of which eludes me now. And while we're on the subject of neolexical encoding, I believe there's a link to Vincent's Synesthesia/Eyris website on this site... Oh yeah, Vince worked on "Lateralus" and I'll bet he also contributes to...
 Ok, I can tell they're closer to being finished with the album because would electronic stuff come at the very end of production? Like, after bass, drums, guitar, and vocals? Thoughts?

Unless he ripped it at a high quality.

Mine comes to about 6 Gb, and over 2,500 files. It needs increasing

yeah he really like to tease Tool fans about the new album... which would explain the ending of his recent update..

Artemician 06-18-2005 01:44 PM

I think some of the stuff is pretty funny actually.

Anyway, if there was any actual Tool news he would probably post. The point is that they've been doing practically the same thing (recording, mixing, etc.) for the last several months.

Dried Muffin Remnants 06-18-2005 01:46 PM

The Maynard Finds Jesus thing was lame because...
1. Any Tool fan would know that it's BS.
2. A non-Tool fan would not care and would not know the significance of religion in the joke.

I don't even know if Blair started it, but I'll just blame it on him anyway because he's a pretentious/narcissistic douchebag.

 Good point, though I think us stalker types that know practically everything about the band saw through it right away.
