darn, you beat me, but he's clearly a gimmick, so --> ban :)

Joe 11-09-2005 06:54 PM

It's not a big deal, but I want to suggest that the mailing lists be sent out on some sort of standard. For example, having all the files be mp3 or something because mp3 plays on nearly every media player, unlike iTunes format or WMA

Sorry guys but can I ask you what "bumping" means?

Riva 11-10-2005 02:17 AM

Bumping is a process by which a users "bumps" a thread onto the first page by posting in it.

camelfarmer 11-10-2005 03:43 AM

Sorry about the thread dude, thanks for the link to the other one. I did read the rules and it didnt say that it wasnt allowed and it didnt link me to that thread, but then I only read the first post of the rules.

Riva 11-10-2005 03:45 AM

Nah, it was just amusing because it was about 5 threads below yours. :p

No offense was taken, my good sir.

camelfarmer 11-10-2005 03:46 AM

Yep I dont come in here, well ever.

Question:

Why is there a Led Zepplin vs. Metallica thread?

This is strictly forbidden yet they say they have mod approval.

I'm curious why mods will get pissed at ppl for doing this yet they start one themselves.

Here's a thought: maybe the mods approved it, as evidenced by Jason's edit in the first post?

Nostalgia 11-10-2005 07:45 PM

their are rare exceptions when that thread will be legalized, if they just ask who do you think is better? then yea it's going to get closed but that's not the case this time. The reason it will not get closed because threadstarter has a good argument and has something to debate about, song writing abilities and musicianship. And they are both great bands (Mettalica was)

I'm not trying to be an @$$ or anything but I just don't like when someone tells me one thing and then they go do the other.

It strikes me as hypocritical.

Along with Jom and SilentScream's answers, it's a "test thread". We're trying to see if R&M can lead the thread into a mature thought provoking debate with a vs thread.

Permanent Solution 11-10-2005 07:57 PM

Jason, you just got your first bannable post in the vs thread.

Nostalgia 11-10-2005 08:04 PM

Keep a eye on this thread, it's going to be spammed up most likely. And their not really compareable genres IMO.

You need to remember that this is the internet, so there is a lot more flexibility in the rules here then out there. (:p) The rules are more for new posters who have little forum expirience. The majority of those rules are common sense rules, anyways. After you've been here a while, you'll start interpreting the rules differently. Basically, if you do something intelligently, you'll be fine doing it.

Shoot me a Gmail, then, please :)

My MX address is frozeninshadows(at)gmail.com

Considering how people are crabbing as of late, I'm definitely looking forward to it.

Pick a few people that you trust and want to work with, and get back to me.

PS: try to keep it a secret, if you can/haven't already spoiled it :-$

I got neg repped in this thread by Steerpike because I posted my opinion:

http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=412530

He has an inferiority complex apparently, and takes it out on the members of the board.

Jom 11-11-2005 03:17 PM

He explained why you got negged, though. You trashed the genre even though the threadstarter asked that people don't.

I didn't trash it. "Simple-minded" isn't necessarily a bad thing. And second of all, there are way worse posts than mine in that thread, and they didn't even get critisized. He just has something against me.

superpeer 11-11-2005 04:07 PM

Don't worry, Son of Northern Darkness has been banned for his posts, so you're not the worst off.

Joe 11-11-2005 04:21 PM

Suggestion: Maybe a list of contact info in the Rules sticky? There's all sorts of things like the trading albums and songs and stuff maybe there should just be like a list of people's aim's and emails?

superpeer 11-11-2005 04:22 PM

I don't know if everyone would like their contact info in the rules thread.

Joe 11-11-2005 04:29 PM

I don't think most people would mind. There's one in the ysi thread. And of course it wouldn't be necessary. It's just a suggestion

superpeer 11-11-2005 04:32 PM

Well, I don't have a strong opinion on it, let's see if anyone else has something to say concerning the matter.

Hi Im new here !!

For some reason it wont allow me to post a new thread and says I dont have permission, so my first post is here instead. :)

I have a question for any musicians reading. I play Greek music. There are specific rythems used in Greek music but one song I realy like I didnt recognize the rythem and asked somone about it and they said that it wasnt a Greek rythem it was an American slow rock rythem.

Please listen to it and tell me what the name of the rythem is, you can download it from this link, it will download in 2 seconds: http://s22.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=30NQSGMLGK2VK0NIDOKHTORDPA

Thanks and see you around ! :)

Joe 11-11-2005 05:48 PM

There are several forums and threads regarding other styles of music and how to play other styles. Go to the bottom right of your screen and click on whatever instrument you play or Other Music. Welcome :thumb:

That is because you can't post a thread in the first 24 hours to prevent spam attacks.

You would be much better off making a thread with all this in the audio arena after the 24 hours are up.

Marios 11-11-2005 05:54 PM

Thanks for the tips guys !!

Marios 11-11-2005 05:55 PM

Im a little sad I have to wait 24 hours though, hopefully somone will recognize my beat on this thread. :)
