I just listened to PATGOD for the first time in awhile today. Wonderful album.

Sorry, but that doesn't really help the thread at all. |

Calm down there, bud, he's pretty new here and as far as I've seen, he's a good user too. |
I have nothing to add right now. This post is absolutely pointless and just a way to get my postcount up and keep a standing in this thread. I'm just really really bored and too tired to think of a coherent thing to add to this.
So... Astronomy Domine rulz!!1 Discuss.
anyone senisble would just have posted "who else loves the song astro domine?" To which i'd have answered "I do!" |
I love Syd's voice on that song. Although Gilmour also does a really good job of it.
NEWSFLASH!!!
my dad just told me that on the radio this morning Floyd were played, and they are considering making a comeback album. Roger Waters said the rift between him and the other band members was healed, and being up onstage together at Live8 was brilliant, and they are considering reforming properly. i hope they at least tour again, i would get a ticket sooooo quickly! sorry if you guys already knew this.
If its true, I' going to be increadably happy, but unfortunatly people have been saying this for quite some time (not that you may not be right.) I can still hope... |

I don't believe it yet, but at least my radio station tends to be pretty reliable with things like this. If I hear it from a few more reliable sources, I'll get my hopes up. A reunion would be so great though. |
I plan to pay as much as needed to be able to see a Floyd concert. I will fly to NYC or Washington DC if I have to. Actually I'll probably drive, they're both just up I-95... whatever. Point is, I'm going if there is one.

I said the same thing when the rumors of Cream playing 3 concerts at MSG were starting. But now that I've heard the tickets are like $350 at least, I'm not going. I hope Floyd would go a little cheaper prices if they toured. I'd be willing to pay a lot though. |

Part of it is that Cream hasn't actually toured since 1968 (not counting Albert Hall) but Floyd did in '94 (not counting Live 8) so I don't think they'd be that much. Plus, Waters may have been an egomaniacal jerk, but he never screwed over fans. Well, unless you count spitting on the fan, but he got the best apology ever, since it led to The Wall... |

Good point. Cream's still not touring though, so maybe if they did a full tour, the prices would be lower. Floyd certainly don't need money, and none of them seem to really want money either. If they tour, I could see them donating most of their profit to charity. |

/lives right outside of Washington DC. I would definitely drop any amount of money to see them live. |
I know that there are rumours that Floyd might play when they get inducted into the UK music Hall Of Fame later this year, but that might still not happen (although they are definitely being inducted). If they do tour, then ticket prices would be huge. The band members wouldn't really be responsible for the pricing unless they organised the events independently I guess, and once the touts got involved then the number of reasonably priced tickets would sadly be rather small, although I'd imagine they'd stay below some of the prices being charged for Cream gigs.
If they're inducted, they'd still do a gig at the HOF though, right? So even if they don't tour, at least there will be a single gig we could watch. There's no way it would be televised over here in America, but it'll probably be avaliable over the internet. |
/lives right outside of Washington DC.

Maryland side. Do you live near there?
|
Maryland side. Do you live near there?
Annapolis. You live pretty close to Slug/ATM/Chirs too then. |
I don't live near anyone :upset: (eastern North Carolina) But one good thing is that Rocky Mount is right on I-95, literally halfway between New York City and Miami. SO I can go pretty much anywhere on the east coast within a day.
|
I live right outside NYC, so I thought I'd live near a bunch of people, but I haven't found anyone who lives in NY state.
|
Annapolis. You live pretty close to Slug/ATM/Chirs too then.
I live in Bethesda, really close to Slug and SeasonOfTheMad. I jammed with them awhile back, but haven't had a chance to do so recently. How old are you? I've got a friend who just moved to Annapolis (Kareem). He's a junior currently. My sister lives in Annapolis too. Man, that's weird. I go visit Annapolis pretty often. |
Crazy stuff. I'm 17 and a senior at Annapolis High School. I was about to come up to Bethesda today for some college fair thing but I didn't.
Does either your friend or your sister go to AHS? |
I don't know if my friend does, but I can find out. If he does, I'll tell him to look out for you. Or you to look out for him might work better, since I know what he looks like, and his name.
My sister is at the naval academy. Do you go to DC/Bethesda often? |
Cool cool. I don't go up there very much because there isn't much reason for me too, but I drive around that area when I go to my friend's apartment up in Frederick.
Lets continue this talk on AIM sometime, as we're wasting space in the Pink Floyd thread. |
Good call.
When Pink Floyd get inducted, I think it's quite likely it'll be televised in America. That's a pretty big deal. I think so, at least. Are they required to play at the HOF, or is that just a general standard? |
I discovered some BBC recordings from 1971, too bad I cant upload them :-(
|
Well, we all thought their reunion at Live 8 was a pretty big deal, but the American networks cut away from their performance mid-song so it's hard to say.
And I don't think they can really be required to play, so my guess would be that it's just a standard. |
I discovered some BBC recordings from 1971, too bad I cant upload them :-(
That is a definite too bad. Yeah, it would be silly to require bands to play, since I'm sure many artists are inducted posthumously. |

 I can see it now. They roll out a coffin and stick a coffin* on it. It's silent with people staring at it for about 15 minutes, and then they break out cheering. Just like a Johnny Cage performance. Edit: *guitar |
