Oh Im not worked up at all, its quite the contrary. People are already trying to get us to play shows and we won't budge. We have certain objectives in mind and long term goals set, goals 2 years down the road. We have amazing guest guitarists, and vocalists scheduled to come jam with us. We are definiatly not in this for the money, all of us in the band are financially set and in no hurry to try to force anything. We are actually in about the best shape a band could hope to be in, we all have alot of life experience and strong opinions about what we want to do. The guys I am with are very intelligent and some of the most unique people you will ever meet. We range in age from the early 20's to early 30's and have occupations ranging from Engineers to Physics majors.

The point Im trying to make is were not going to be one of those bands that are trying to write something popular to get noticed. The stuff we are working on is actually very much against the mainstream grain and not very popular topics. These are things important to us that we feel many more people have the same outlook.

As far as success if it comes it comes, the cd we are working on is for 4 people. If others like it then that is the cherry ontop of the icing.

Otherside 05-04-2005 05:52 AM

Will you be uploading the CD for us when it's done? That would be awesome.

SonorKen 05-04-2005 06:17 AM

yea, I'll upload some tracks while they are being developed for everyones input.

If the chance came up would you want to get signed? Also what about touring? I mean that has to take a toll on your day jobs.
Another group of guys asked me to be there drummer today, and they offered to help clean up my garage. These could be the guys who don't flake! Hoorah!
Ironic that in every band I've formed, the drummer is the flake

Right now I'm playing guitar in a band with four other people. The singer, the other guitarist and I have been playing/writing together for about 2 or 3 years, trying to get bands going, and we always have trouble getting a strong rhythm section. Right now we have a bassist who is pretty dedicated and a drummer who seems to love doing it, but still flakes.

Girls will cause the downfall of all male-made music, I tell you that.

kurrpt 05-04-2005 07:36 AM

i finally remembered to bring my cable to transfer backing tracks to my MP3 player. I should be able to upload guitar for Part of Me tomorrow. Let me know if there is any other backing tracks i should take along :thumb:

my girl always get pissed when she even sees me pull out a guitar. I think shes smart enuff to realize its a competition

joas 05-04-2005 07:48 AM

Haha, I've personally never had that trouble, 'senate. (Good to see you again, too. :))

Right now I'm in a crap situation where it's a drummer, a bassist, and me (guitar)-- and we're all very dedicated to playing and love to just hang out and practice/jam, but I live about 35-45 minutes away from them. We always practice down there, so it's easier on the drummer (we're only 16-17 and no cars), but school gets in the way. And parents. Parents never like making trips like that once you're past the age of 13.

So now, we only practice every other week or so. :( But, when we do, it's a great time, and I'm sure if we'd have a bit more time we'd really be gigging around town with our instrumental-jamband-improvisational crap. :) Oh well.

[The whole point is to show a common place to jam at for a few bucks would be a great idea in my town]

i have the problem of my bassist and drummer being little bitches, talking sh*t behind my back, refusing to learn the music, etc....

yea i think mine is worse

Talking shit seems to come up a little often when your concerned. Perhaps you should chill out for a bit, stop taking recording so seriously and go back to having a jam with a few mates.

Music shouldn't be an occupation, it should be something you enjoy creating.

Adam Jones is GOD 05-04-2005 11:17 AM

i wish i had like minded musicians near me willing to jam.

Its all either emo/screamo bands or ska musicians. Neither seem to fit well with my musical direction.

I have a very similar problem. The few number of competent musicians around my area are either too lazy to start a band, or are all into Green Day and **** like that.

well, i deff enjoy just playing in general. The problem is they arent constructive. They want to jam, in the purest sense, but they can never remember what they were playing, so realistically its a waste of time

I wouldnt mind Green Day orientated players. I havent had a jam sesson in aaaaaagges. And its affecting my playing.

Artemician 05-04-2005 11:40 AM

My band never seems to have any trouble playing anywhere, and it's a fully formed group with no musicians needed. Some would say I'm lucky because of this, but my band has this infernal trouble with not accomplishing anything, playing random riffs, then saying goodbye to music altogether and turning on the X-Box.

I think the main problem is that we can't actually agree on what type of stuff to play. I mean, the band practices are fun and all, but it's kind of sad when a band has been playing together for more than 8 months and still have absolutely nothing to show for it.

yea thats my problem. WE never get anything accomplished. The other people refuse to take a leading role, so in turn i do. Then when i try to lead, or have some method to the madness, they just bitch and moan

You see, I do, because 1) I don't like Green Day and 2) If you know one Green Day song, you pretty much know every one of them (with a few exceptions), so jamming with these said people really doesn't accomplish much.

I do occasionally jam with this older guy I know that plays a lot of folk and bluegrass stuff. Its very interesting.

Girls are the downfall of every man made thing period, except semen.

Edit: I read an earlier post and somehow thought it was new. /fails

Dried Muffin Remnants 05-04-2005 01:57 PM

^^I don't know what that is in reference to, but so very true.

I will find a counter example, but im going to have to agree strongly with you at the moment. They seem to have a lot of cons.

But their pros generally seem to outweigh them, even though there are few

Huber 05-04-2005 01:59 PM

Yeah, sex weighs in at like 200 pounds, while bitchiness and lame arguments weigh about 150

Adam Jones is GOD 05-04-2005 02:00 PM

Dont forget the 20 pounds for theft of common sense and logical thinking.

Madey is going to flip next tiem she psots here

Huber 05-04-2005 02:01 PM

I didn't know she was a girl, oh well, we were just kidding anyways ;)

kurrpt 05-04-2005 02:02 PM

yea, not to mention the doing the laundry and getting you outta tight jams at times.

Hey adam, you record anything lately? ima get that Part of Me recorded today. I think it should be all good to go. Im not sure if im gonna record it clean and add effect later, or just say FUK it and go with the Dual recto tone

Dried Muffin Remnants 05-04-2005 02:03 PM

Except we wanna keep them at a little less than 200lbs

Adam Jones is GOD 05-04-2005 02:03 PM

Love to madey. I bet she's on the 200 pound side any day.

Oh shi

Huber 05-04-2005 02:05 PM

I still have no method of recording available. My sound card makes too many noises and my mic only picks up small tactical nuke explosion sounds.

Huber 05-04-2005 02:07 PM

Yeah, the fan in my computer makes a stupid buzzing sound throughout everything I record, so I have to use my mom's laptop. My mom hates me using it sometimes, and I don't understand why, she never uses it at all.
