Would you advise ditching Limewire and getting Soulseek?

metal-militia 02-20-2005 03:38 PM

keep both, but Soulseek is much better as you can download whole albums easier

Last Ditch Effort 02-20-2005 03:40 PM

Does it slow down your computer?
I used to have Bear Share and it did extremely.
Now I have WinMX but it is horrible, so I've been looking for a new d/l'er lately.

It hasn't slowed down my computer, so I guess it won't slow down yours. Definately get this program.

Last Ditch Effort 02-20-2005 03:52 PM

Do you have a link to where I can download it?

I'll have to d/load it too and get some Whiplash from you. I'll +rep you when it allows me to. It's being real awkward

Fixed. I didn't put the http:// in front of it, which is why it didn't work. Thanks for the heads up.

metal-militia 02-20-2005 04:23 PM

Quick word of warning. Sometimes you can't browse people and it will come up with an error message.

Yeah, your hard drive.

RavenousMetalist87 02-20-2005 05:13 PM

Oy!

Picked up 2 more thrash gems today from Tower:

Destroyer 666 - Pheonix Rising
Overkill - Wrecking Everything (Live from Asbury Park)

This DVD is one hell of a show. The first two songs were alright, but the next 3 after that are **** heavy!

ForiegnPenguin 02-20-2005 05:33 PM

I finally found a guitarist willing to make a thrash band with me and a bassist. Now if all I need is my Sodom cd to get here.

Wicked awesome \m/. What kind of sound are you guys aiming for? I seriously need to get a new replacement guitar and put up a flyer so I can find people to play thrash metal with.

When that Sodom CD gets there, there shall be chaos and thunder...oh wait, that's just the drums, guitars and pounding bass. Still, I'm sure whatever you ordered, you'll be extremely satisfied.

Great finds! I love that DVD.

Foreign: Try to make your band sound bay-area styled, that would kick some arse.

ForiegnPenguin 02-20-2005 09:04 PM

Well, right now we're just going to cover some songs. He really likes Slayer and Annihilator so I'm supposing a wierd combination. We still don't have a singer. The Sodom cd better come soon.

Definitely worth the 32 bucks  The price tag for the DVD said "24.99", but when they rang it up, it said 19.99. I didn't bother to argue, since I didn't have to shell out more money since the computer fixed that problem. So far, I love this DVD. The concert is pure energy, and the second disc is really interesting. I cracked up when Blitz remembers saying **** YOU in the bar in Poland when he was drunk. Now that is some good advice, but also hilarious.

Remember kiddies, the saying "**** YOU" is understood all over :D

Well, that's gotta be a tough one. I got asked to play in a band that wanted to do "Metallica/Anthrax guitars with Maiden-ish vocals", but I want to do extreme german thrash (ala Sodom, Destruction, Kreator, Holy Moses) with some other influences such as Overkill, Testament (heavy moments, people), Dark Angel, Sepultura, and well, I'm out of ideas...well that's about it.

Good luck with your situation. Hopefully it all works out :thumb:

The Overkill Live DVD is amazing. I watch it all like once a week. Wicked DVD :thumb:

LordDargon 02-21-2005 06:42 AM

Teh bumps! I will most certainly leech Mortifier off you RCA. I will also look at your DD review, but did you know I already reviewed it? Over a year ago. Anyways, Sodom, Black Magic, the 'Kill, \m/!

And SLATANIC, Ticket to Mayhem is supposed to be the best Whiplash. At least get "The Burning of Atlanta" off it, that song SLAYS!

ForiegnPenguin 02-21-2005 10:56 AM

Its snowing again. Anyway, nice review RCA. I have to get a Whiplash cd.

acefrehleyjendell 02-21-2005 11:03 AM

I just got thrashed up again with new cd's.

I got

Anthrax - Greater of 2 evils
Exodus - Bonded by blood
Kreator - Enemy of god
Testament - The Legacy

The Testament one is fast becoming my favourite album.

ForiegnPenguin 02-21-2005 11:09 AM

Great albums. You should get the New Order if you like Testament.

Heh, they were just talking about how overrated Testament are. That is their best album, though.

Bonded by Blood is an absolute classic and is definitely the best on that list though.

Fists are in the air
banging everywhere
thrashing to the sound
faces melting down
it's time to fight
for metal tonight
bangers take your stand and obey our METAL COMMAND! \m/ \m/

metal-militia 02-21-2005 11:22 AM

I wish Metal Command was on the Another Lesson Violence CD, as its one of my favourite Exodus songs. :(

Legacy is good, but Testament start going downhill after that.

And Dargons right, Ticket to Mayhem is great and deffinately worth picking up.

ForiegnPenguin 02-21-2005 11:28 AM

Does Baloff sing in that cd?

acefrehleyjendell 02-21-2005 11:40 AM
how overrated Testament are. .

/
I really dont think Testament get the amount of credit they deserve, like
most thrash bands.

Most people i know only rate Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth, and Slayer
as the only worthy thrash bands whereas i beg to differ.

There all good bands but there old albums havent really aged that well,
whereas IMO bands like Kreator,Testament, Death Angel... among others
still sound fresh.

But don't get me wrong, Megadeth and Slayer are my favourite thrash bands.

LordDargon 02-21-2005 11:49 AM

Slayer is the only band that deserves to be in the "Big Four", and Exodus and Slayer are the only ones that deserve to be in the "Big Six" (big 4 + Exodus and Testament)

/controversy

metal-militia 02-21-2005 11:52 AM
Does Baloff sing in that cd?
Yes

Testament are very overated, and there are loads more thrash bands that are better. The Legacy is a great album, but as far as Testament go, thats it. New Order has it's moments and is still regarded highly, but i disagree.

IMO all of the bands in the "big 4" have their moments, (apart from Anthrax, who i just don't like :p), but Slayer probably come out as the most consistent. All of the big 4 are still overated though, with only a handfull of good-great albums, while other bands are much more consistent at releasing good material.
