I'm surprised ShelBel isn't here. Normally she's bored and hangs out. :p When does she get out of work?

JoeDaddio 09-22-2004 01:51 PM

There's something I've been wondering, especially now that I've been taking english lessons for about six months. Does my english suck? I mean, is it obvious to everyone here that english is not my first language when I write?? Thanks.

No it's not that I don't understand a word of what you're saying, but it's just that the sentence structure and everything else is quite funny, especially in your first post.

btw, what translator are you using??? Does it go the other way round??

In all honesty...

No. It's not evident that English isn't your first language. I actually forget that it isn't, and I remember when you begin talking in Spanish. In fact, I can honestly say you speak english better than 75% or MORE of the people on this forum.

moxshyfter 09-22-2004 02:07 PM

nisakss 09-22-2004 02:26 PM

Sometimes, and sorry I put this in english but maybe you'll understand me better, but I meant that for example in english you'd say dog, regardless if it's a female or male. In spanish you say "perra" for female dog and "perro" for male. And most adjectives in spanish have that duality. It's important to know when it goes with an "o" or an "a" at the end.

nisakss 09-22-2004 02:43 PM

JoeDaddio 09-22-2004 02:43 PM

You fool, you don't change nouns! Only adjectives have a difference between "O" and "A," the nouns stay the same forever!

No, you tried to say that a female dog is a "perra," but it's not. It's always "perro."

Foxfire 09-22-2004 03:05 PM

You can get it off of his website I think...

I'm going to record it for sound click just for the hell of it. :p

GeezerRULEZ 09-22-2004 03:11 PM
No, you tried to say that a female dog is a "perra," but it's not. It's always "perro."
ehhh...no. You wouldn't say " ahí va una perro" you'd say "ahi va una perra". If someone asks you what sex is your dog you'd say "es una perra".

Besides, nouns do change.
