If they do it again, bring it to my attention and I'll give them a little ban.

Nostalgia 11-07-2005 12:49 PM

Aren't most of these stupid spam posters, just disingruntled (sp) old MXers, who got banned and now just make spam accounts.

3074326 11-07-2005 05:35 PM

Probably.

Banning them doesn't get rid of them, it just annoys them. That's why I don't ban too much.

I dont know what you want to do with this. The thread starter put no effort into the thread and asked for their biography. I know its not against the rules, but it doesn't provide anthing to actually talk about.

You can do for the first minute after making it but after that then you need to get a mod to do it.

Riva 11-07-2005 06:12 PM

Link me, and you shall receive said change. :)

Well i wanted to change the title to the Iced Earth thread ???
The questions mark look pretty weird and bad, but i dont know what to change it to.

I feel pretty stupid asking this, but, how do you link a thread ?

Riva 11-07-2005 06:19 PM

You select the address in the bar at the top of your browser window, then press ctrl-c.

Once you are posting, you press ctrl-v. And then the thread will link.

As for the Iced Earth thread, do you want something like "R&M's Inferno (Iced Earth)"?

This thread, right?

Jason, I haven't received any IMs from you for awhile... did you just stop talking randomly, or did my MSN crap out for the umpteenth time? I've sent you at least seven IMs in the past ten minutes, and no response :(

i signed up here a couple years ago, and quit after a while cause i got bored with it. i came back again, and i quit, again, because everyone here is so close minded that you cant voice an opinion without getting flammed. i come back one more time, cause im a musician, and i wana discuss music with others...i read the updated rule section, and quite honestly im appaled. you guys might as well list what we CAN do, cause it would be a lot shorter than the list of things we cant. i understand some of the older members get sick of seeing the same thing, but this has gotten outrageous, theres absolutly nothing to start conversations about thats not against the rules. what is the point of this site?

To discuss music. Hence the musician's forums.

Just because the threads that promote no discussion, get closed doesn't mean every thing is against the rules. The reason the forums are so tight is because it the INTERNET if it was real life we could beat you up everytime you made a bad thread, but we can't so thats why we have to ban people and close threads that is why the forum are really tight, if you don't like it, join another forums. It's the internet deal with it.

Im sorry but threads such as "List songs that will play while Satan rises from hell" or "Songs that pump you up" dont make conversation. There are plenty of threads around, with plenty of conversations. If you cant see that I suggest you lurk more.

Those rules eliminate the threads that start the very flame wars that you complain about. If we allowed the threads that are illegal in the rules, the forum would turn into its old state - terrible. It's at a very good point. The community is great, there are very few massive flame wars anymore, and there is a lot of quality discussion going around.

The point of this forum is to discuss music with some form of intelligence, not to argue that Zakk Wylde can crush Bruce Dickenson with his voice, or that Tool is better than A Perfect Circle because A Perfect Circle "sux dik." We don't like those discussions, so we make them illegal. Those are where those threads end every time. I've been here long enough to tell you this with some credibility.

See where I'm going?
