When you were young
You were the king of carrot flowers
And how you built a tower tumbling through the trees
In holy rattlesnakes that fell all around your feet
And your mom would stick a fork right into daddy's shoulder
And your dad would throw the garbage all across the floor
As we would lay and learn what each other's bodies were for
And this is the room
One afternoon I knew I could love you
And from above you how I sank into your soul
Into that secret place where no one dares to go
And your mom would drink until she was no longer speaking
And dad would dream of all the different ways to die
Each one a little more than he could dare to try

I got Think Differently Music: The Wu-Tang Meets the Indie Culture today. It's ok. Ras Kass damages every other MC on there. But the Del tha Funkee Homosapien/Aesop Rock track is pretty cool, too.

This evening has been:
Born Heller - Born Heller
It's a very interesting little folk record. It feels very fitting as I sit here about to sleep. link.

br3ad_man 11-01-2005 02:01 AM

I just heard some Cave In songs, they were quite cool. I might buy that album they're selling for $10. Today I dug Dredg and Ryan Adams.

Iai 11-01-2005 07:48 AM

Right now, I'm digging this Hum album I've had for months but never listened to for some reason.

Clunge 11-01-2005 09:45 AM

New Amplifier and Oceansize albums.

Luxor 11-01-2005 09:56 AM

Six Organs Of Admittance - School Of The Flower
Me likey.

Interpol - Turn On The Bright Lights
The first 4 tracks are great, but the rest of it just goes downhill from there.

Bartender 11-01-2005 10:32 AM

I just got Amateur Transplants - Fitness to Practice in the post. Since I got something like 99 plays out of just three tracks from it, I can see it getting a lot of play in the near future.

Tomahawk 11-01-2005 10:34 AM

Tons of Beatles today, with a focus on Revolver, but a bunch of everything really. Listening to the Anthology set now.

"Fragments" strikes me as the oddest thing Del has ever done.

KT Tunstall - Eye To The Telescope

Liliput - s/t

Happymeal 11-01-2005 05:36 PM

I've been sifting through dEUS's Pocket Revolution and I'm starting to like it. It's kind of a mix of pop and Girls Against Boys-ish rock.

I keep hearing about this band, what do they sound like?

Also, I've been digging Against Me! - Acoustic EP.

Pere Ubu is a mega weird post-punk band. Their music tends to be unbelievably "nervy" and awkward to the point of often being annoying. I don't actually like them very much.

They have a great bottom end though.

For Decay:

David Thomas' vocals are not for everyone but if you happen to like them upon the first listen you'll be hooked. Their first 3 LPs are where it's at and if you can find their first EPs you'll be set.

Zappa 11-01-2005 07:26 PM

I can dig some of The Modern Dance, but Dub Housing makes me vomit.

Dog 11-01-2005 07:32 PM

I love Thomas' vocals; they're a big strongpoint for Pere Ubu in my eyes. The Modern Dance > all.

Hmm, those are some magical albums there buddy boy.

pixiesfanyo 11-01-2005 07:55 PM

I lend myself to the Modern Dance is hot club.

JonM 11-01-2005 08:39 PM

Primal Scream. Tell me you guys know this band. Oh my gosh. The 1990s have just been redefined for me.

Iai 11-01-2005 08:43 PM

Of course we know Primal Scream, they're the ultimate retirement home for rock stars who've exhausted their potential in other bands.

Little Man being Erased 11-01-2005 09:13 PM

I just listened to Remain in Light and enjoyed it more than I ever have before. Wow. I need more Talking Heads.

I'd say the same except that I absolutely love The Modern Dance, but I don't like Dub Housing as much as it.

Actually that is nothing like your statement.

Care to enlighten me as to what that means? I just downloaded the record and listened to it; I have no context for it.

The band members, at some point, have included a guy from Jesus & Mary Chain, a guy from the Stone Roses, and Kevin Shields from My Bloody Valentine.
