Early Destruction > Newer Destruction > Non-Schmier Destruction (minus Cracked Brain)
What hurts early Destruction is the production values of those albums. If they were produced like The Antichrist or Metal Discharge, then they would own much harder than they already do. Whatduffhuck7: I see minimal speed metal influence in The Antichrist. A few riffs here and there maybe, but for the most part it's damn good thrash. |
speaking of Schmier......has anyone heard Headhunter? I just got Parody of Life last night and man, is it fucking amazing

Live Without Sense has the best production for a Destruction album, and it's an old one :thumb: |

Exactly. Good sound, excellent setlist, and just overall great. |

Above is a really good thrash band from Canyon Country, CA. I think that's about an hour away from where I live because these guys travel all the way to Hollywood to play gigs. They're called Mericless Death, so give them a listen and see what you think. I might buy a release or demo from them if I can. |
I'll listen to them... mainly because of the name.
|
Hey Mathias.......did you record "Take no Prinsoners" with Audacity, because If you did, I'll throw the bass track on it!
|
Early Destruction > Newer Destruction > Non-Schmier Destruction (minus Cracked Brain)
I agree. Has anyone heard all of the stuff without Schmier as i haven't heard a lot of it after Cracked Brain. |

Yeah, I'm going to record another take today to fix the clipping. Do you want the file as .wav or .aup? |
Yeah, I'm going to record another take today to fix the clipping. Do you want the file as .wav or .aup?
It dosen't matter, I can use either of them :thumb: |
Hail guys, I'd like to know some things about TOXIK, anyone familiar with them?

yeah, I've heard some of thier stuff, I liked it |

Toxik are solid technical-ish thrash, definitely check out their album called World Circus. |
World Circus...I'll definately look for it. Technical thrash (eg coroner, sadus) is what I like but it seems bands that play this kind of thrash are few and fairly unknown...
|
Bonded by Blood Update: All is finished recording, except the solos. I just need to piece the last part of the song together and get that damn second solo down. I should have it uploaded and posted by later tonight, but for now I have to leave.

Yeah, good band.... both World Circus and Think This are worth checking out. |

http://s44.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=17R248FV42SXT10I5PCJYITK5T That's my new one, I fixed up the clipping a bit, and the playing is slightly cleaner. I might do another one though. |
Hey, do we have a final setlist for the covers competition?
|
Well Bonded By Blood is confirmed. Not sure about anything else. Althought now we have until August 1.

The tone needs some work and the second solo isn't in there yet (If somebody else wants to play it, you're welcome to it). I think I repeated one part one too many times or something, because it's longer than the original without the intro thing. It's a start though. |
The second ending to the main verse riff sounds off, and you kinda biffed the first solo. The overall speed of the song needs to be a bit faster too.
Keep these in mind when you go to re-record it. :thumb: (Sorry if I sound mean, I just want this cover to sound as close to the original as it can.) |

You don't sound mean at all, suggestions are needed and that is by no means the final recording. I just got that solo up to speed, and I didn't spend a lot of time recording it, so I'll fix that too. Any suggestions on how to make the tone a bit closer to the original (add more mid, or something like that)? |

I agree that Audacity isn't that great... but its free and better than Windows sound recorder. Face in the Sky, did you listen to the newer Take No Prisoners?

TheChoSenOnes: Lower the gain just a bit, and turn your middle up just a bit.

Alright, my mid in GarageBand is a bit wierd, but will do. NP: Metal Church - In Due Time |
This is for the Deth thread, but no one is checking that right now... so can you guys give my Holy Wars cover a listen? I didn't do it with the album, so the timing is fucked (I made the song a full minute shorter ) but the playing came out pretty well, save a few dead notes. Of course I'll be re-recording it to time, but let me hear what you guys think.
I might just have to learn the clean solo too, or at least get the idea of it so I can improv it. http://s46.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3LV8FNS5W1OAO18MSLLRMO4P94 |

Where can I download a converter?
|
I use itunes. I'm not sure what other windows programs work, because I use mac.
All you have to do is convert it to anything else in a different bit rate so that the size reduces. Search download.com for a wav converter. Great job playing that song, by the way. One of those parts gives me major trouble and you played it really well. Pretty good job on the solos too. You should add the clean one if you can though. |
I use Audacity for my mp3 conversions. It's free and works great for everything.
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ Here's the encoder you'll need for mp3 conversions: http://s44.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3TGJIBG5GAUMF3JJIH5R1WDIRB |
Yeah, I've never attempted to learn the clean one, though I probably should. Maybe after exams. Thanks for the feedback. Just out of curiosity, what part gives you trouble?
Thanks for the converter. Here's an mp3 file of it: http://s40.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3SHFFZMTUWK3S01QG4DXOGHB55 |

It starts when Dave starts singing. That riff (or two), I just haven't bothered to get down all that well. When I've tried I haven't been motivated to work at it hard enough to get it right. Also, I haven't taken the time to learn either of those solos, but I think I'm going to once I get BbB better. The clean solo actually doesn't look very hard (I'm looking at the tab book), so you should be able to nail it pretty easily since you've got Marty's other solos in the song down. |
I liked it, MAthiAS; needs some touching up, but good for the most part. :thumb:
I agree that Audacity isn't that great... but its free and better than Windows sound recorder. Face in the Sky, did you listen to the newer Take No Prisoners?
Yeah, I'll put my bass on as soon as I get a good nice bass tone, I'll have to tweak out my set up tommorrow |
Nice work both of you.
ChosenOnes: I listened to your take and tried to do some of the drums for BbB in fruity loops, so far I have done the verse and chorus, and the part after the solo with the consisten double kick. No fills yet. |

I'm going to sing along to Bonded By Blood today to try and get my voice in gear again. The last time I practiced I couldn't really do the high-screech thing Baloff does as good as I used to be able to.
I figured if I purposely make my voice crack, I get close to Baloff's vocal style. It's weird, you'll have to hear it. |
The funny thing is I play that part differently than Dave does. I learned the song by ear (really great ear training if any of you are into that) except for the solos, so some of the parts aren't exact, but played cleanly they sound pretty much the same. I never bothered to learn the real way, because I think it sounds so close. When I learn the clean solo I'm going to have to take another look at Dave's solo, it sounded a little bit off to me on a couple phrases. |
