EternalPain 08-25-2004 12:20 AM

I'm not sure...from the DVDs there fukin awesome...but ive never accually gone to one....I'm only 13 :-( but i wish i was about...16 in around 1986...hehe...well...My friends argue that Metallica is dead and gone after this album because of the movie...and Today I bought the book So What and it goes through an interview and its talking about when Metallica can be in the Music Hall OF Fame and its in 2008 so I think they will atleast try to hold out until 2008

bastardsloth 08-25-2004 12:22 AM

from what I've heard, they are between 2 and 3 hours long.

METALLICA's 'Vinyl Box' Due In October

Billboard.com is reporting that Elektra/Rhino Vinyl has set an October 26 release date for METALLICA's "Vinyl Box". The set will collect special editions of the heavy metal act's first four studio albums, plus the "Garage Days Re-Revisited" EP and the import-only "Creeping Death" picture disc.

The albums "Kill 'Em All", "Ride the Lightning", "Master of Puppets" and "...And Justice for All" have been expanded to double-vinyl sets on 180-gram audiophile vinyl with new gatefold jackets. "Vinyl Box" will be limited to 5,000 numbered copies and will carry a suggested retail price of $99.98.

Zmev 08-25-2004 04:21 AM

too bad i dont have a record player

DimebagDarrell 08-25-2004 04:25 AM

i do, but i dont have $99 to spend :( which i would say is ruffly 60quid

F*ck you 08-25-2004 04:29 AM

i went to summer sanitarium last year and it was hella sick. only prob. was you could barely hear the solos(or much of anything, for that matter) because they had truhizzieo's effin bass WAY too loud. but other that that, it was great. i'd definitly recommend seein em live. they usually play for like 2.5, 3 hours but they do hella encores so they might even play longer than that.

Zmev 08-25-2004 04:32 AM

Man whoevers seein Metallica now is so lucky they have 2 good openers (In Flames and Slipknot). All we had were Godsmack (they were good) but....eh *shuts it*

Diatonic Dissonance™ 08-25-2004 05:58 AM
Yeah man, I hear you!
While I do like the more popular Metallica songs (Master of Puppets, Sanitarium, Ride The Lightning, Fade To Black, For Whom The Bell Tolls etc). I do also like their lesser know, or talked about stuff (I think Escape is a great song, in fact pretty much all of Ride The Lightning, and Master of Puppets), they knew how to produce an effective album, the perfect place for each song on both those albums.
Battery is such a well placed song, and the guitaring in that song is brutal, if you've ever seen it Live, you'll know how heavy it would be for James on guitar, yet they do it so well (Not saying it's not heavy for Kirk, and hell Newstead had to fill some pretty **** heavy boots, I think he did well).
Yeah man I know what you mean.

One song, I think would be... Argh, I can't even remember it's name, it's on Master Of Puppets and it's got the SWEETEST alternate picking. What's its name? But yeah, that's a song noone recognises and it's great writing. Lots of talent.
IMO, these are all the un-recognised Metallica songs:
-That one I dont' know the name of (number five on Master Of Puppets)
-...And Justice For All
-The Shortest Straw
-Harvestor Of Sorrow
-The Frayed Ends Of Insanity
-Holier Than Thou
-Through The Never
-Don't Tread On Me
-The God That Failed
-My Friend Of Misery
-The Struggle Within
-(I'll skip KEM, 'cause I don't know which are/aren't on that album)
-The Thing That Should Not Be
-Damage Inc.
-Fight Fire With Fire
-Trapped Under Ice (great song)
-Escape
-Creeping Death

There's probably more, but I'm tired.

I wish they played more of those songs *points* in concert :(.

Oh, have you noticed how they, like, NEVER play anything off ...And Justice any more? :(

Chu 08-25-2004 05:59 AM

Disposable Heroes! Awesome song, I love Cliff's intro to Damage Inc. too :thumb:

Chu 08-25-2004 06:01 AM

In my opinion they play One too much :/
I don't like that song, too much like Fade To Black, I mean props to writing it, but you can't really live off the same song (Although they did it with Load, god knows how..)

But yeah, I think ..And Justice is a pretty good album, although, not great, and hardly lives up to Master or Ride (And Kill 'em All is in a field of its own).

Yes! That's the one! THANK YOU. It's such great writing.

Yeah, I think Fade To Black is way better then One, but I didn't know they played it more... I've seen Fade To Black more times in concert than I've seen One.

Also, I agree with what you say about AJFA not living up to RTL and MOP, and yes, KEM is in a field of it's own.

(Oh yeah, I'm so kewl with my abbreviations!)

EDIT: Listening to Disposable Heroes now, fuck! I swear to god that alternate picking (starts at 00:30) still gives me boners!

EDIT 2: I hope when I get my KH-202 (end of the year) the alternate picking sounds like that :D

Chu 08-25-2004 06:27 AM

Obviously Fade To Black is played more, it's like 6 years older!
They play them both at concerts I guess, but that's playing One too much.
They should open with the intro to Fade To Black (Instrumental, of course).
And close with the ending, the whole time not stopping playing their instruments and mixing the other songs in there too (As well as having Fade To Black (Full versiion) too), that would be an amazing concert.

Chu 08-25-2004 06:29 AM

Agreed, it is a great intro to a great song.

Isn't it 2 years older?

RTL = 1986
AJFA = 1988

If that's wrong, the internet has been fucking with me.

Oh, back to Disposable Heroes; I love the bit at 2:25, it's like the power-chords then it's got that sweet-as little alternate picking part, then the chorus, I love it!

Chu 08-25-2004 06:31 AM

RTL was like 1984 :P
MoP was 1986.
I was wrong too, it's 4 years older.
