Method Man has always been a good rapper, never amazing...
but he's never made a fantastic album (Tical is almost there). Mostly a guest appearance rapper. |
He's an amazing rapper, just not an amazing lyricist.
|
he says entertaining things, but yeah i agree with that.
Redman was always the better lyricist of those two. |
hmm, i wonder if how high 2 will ever happen.
|
i hope so but i don't think so.

If that picture for the video wasn't really cool I'd have really regretted click that. Instead I only mildly regret it.

I tried to find the MF Doom/The Flaming Lips mix on YouTube for you, Psilo, but I couldn't.

Listened to RPM, like it a lot, to me it's on par with the Panacea albums (= very good)

http://www.theloop21.com/society/demise-the-conscious-rapper-talib-kweli-response
oh man this is great, some internet blogger called talib kweli the "demise of the conscious rapper" for recording with gucci mane and some other **** and talib wrote a response to it some choice quotes:
I offer a different take. I say people like Mychal Smith are every bit as caught up in the flashing lights as the "ignorant" masses they like to judge. Instead of celebrating it, they get joy from speaking against it. They truly believe not liking Gucci Mane makes them intellectually superior to say, some chic down south. They pay so much attention to what they perceive to be negative, based on a limited world view, that they miss the positive, even when it's right in their face.

I'm just being me. I'm sorry it makes your head explode that I actually might enjoy Gucci's music, but I do. I didn't do it for money, I did it because I wanted to. He is a dynamic artist that is serving his fan base well. I love music enough to be curious as to what our collaboration would sound like, and he did too. I didn't compromise my style or views on the song, and as a musician, it was fun (remember that, fun?).

Gucci Mane's fans need to hear my music for sure, and some of my fans could use a little Gucci in their lives. I am down for all my people, even the Gucci fans. Deal with it.
my respect for talib kweli has skyrocketed |
Awesome.
|
Talib sounds cool from this now.
|
i thought rpm was pretty okay
|
talib damn well knows what it is.
http://www.theloop21.com/society/demise-the-conscious-rapper-talib-kweli-response
oh man this is great, some internet blogger called talib kweli the "demise of the conscious rapper" for recording with gucci mane and some other **** and talib wrote a response to it some choice quotes: my respect for talib kweli has skyrocketed
Well Talib isn't anything special so who cares? If Mos Def or any other "conscious rapper" with a higher caliber of talent fuc ked with Gucci it'd be a different story. Luckily, and hopefully, rappers of said's talent, and lengthy career won't downgrade them self for increased exposure. Blackstar was great, especially lyrically, but Eardrum and The Great Struggle would be plain mediocre if they didn't have some of the best producers on it. Talib's fooling himself, his fans, and readers saying that he, "didn't do it for the money." Ya I'm a Gucci hater, I knew I wouldn't like him when I saw some of his mixtape covers. And I finally listened to that song he had with Drake, pretty amazing beat, and Drake is actually dec on it. But Gucci, you can't hear a goddamn word he is saying, his flow is terrible, and I imagine his lyrical content is weak too. Actually, I know his lyrics are weak from what I've seen you post. /rant |
cool paragraphs bro

Stop being a frat douche and retort pussy.

It's cool, that's really his way of saying I have no way of countering that because it's true.

Yeah it's like you defend one of the only rappers who are nearly universally hated and we're the ones making bad posts. I got ya.

That must be why every thread in this forum turns into bashing the **** out of him. Cause he's so good yo!
|
being universally hated is the only way to be the most popular rapper in the world

the people who post on music forums are more likely to be nerdy white kids and nerdy white kids are generally limited to specific types of hip hop
