to be honest, I couldn't say. I just used whatever my girlfriend had, as she was the one who got me into diy shirts. :) I do know it was a specified fabric paint, available at Michael's/Hobby Lobby. |

K, thanks. How did you put it on? Did you use a roller? |

http://www.craftsetc.com/Storage/ProductImages/278754.jpg used brushes like this (although maybe a bit more circular, stiffer, etc etc) and just dabbed straight down until the entire surface was covered. Rollers might be easier to get an entire surface quicker, but these brushes are nice when you're trying to get a nice cut against the stencil (which in my case was contact paper). |
edner those shirts are amazing. is the aquabats one 2 layers? they look ****ing professional man.
my friend nick is known as the llama king for some reason so im making him a shirt with this on it: http://i35.photobucket.com/albums/d172/pointless5448/Picture002-1.jpg its the test spray and it came out quite well. i have yet to put it on a shirt but ill post pictures when i do. |

The white portions (like the eyes) were just islands that I put back on, so they didn't get blacked over. That llama is hot dude, I wish I could do something that intricate. |
So my 2nd attempt at a Black Flag patch was a failure too. I'm pissed. This time I tried this paint brush thing instead of a roller and the paint went under the stencil so it made it look like one big blob. I'm going for attempt number 3 tomorrow and if I don't get it this time I'm really gonna be pissed. But I won't give up!

I'm going to attempt a stencil of my friend's face, I'll post results when I do.
EDIT: Oh, and here's my Neil Young stencil: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v428/BPMead007/NY.jpg ANOTHER EDIT: Neil stencil test-spray: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v428/BPMead007/nytest.jpg |
My my, hey hey, that stencil's fuckin' gay
lol No its good, but I wouldn't recognise it as him. |

what did you use as the actual stencil material? If you use contact paper (the lining many people put on kitchen shelves, and stuff--it has a sticky side), you shouldn't have that problem. :( link of what it is for those that don't know - http://housewares.hardwarestore.com/37-188-contact-papers/clear-contact-paper-105240.aspx Sorry to hear that you're having trouble with it. Although, this kinda reminds me of another shirt I need to take a picture of (it's dirty, and in the hamper atm, os it will be later). I did the black flag logo on the left sleeve of a black shirt (white logo), and accidentally let the paint dry. When I tore it off, it ripped some of the paint off. I was pissed, but it gave the shirt an aged look, which I've got a lot of comments about. :) about the neil young stencil-the result looks better than what I thought the cutout would provide. Good job. :) |

 I don't have any paint or blank shirts left, maybe I'll just save all my stencils for halloween and make Neil Young/Bad Brains jackolanterns. |

I tried to make one of a picture of them, it came out pretty nice, except that Jamie (I think is his name) was wearing a hoodie and cut out, it looks like a diving helmet (as The-UK-Ska-Scene kindly pointed out). Anyone any ideas on how to sort that out? Here it is, please feel free to twiddle with anything you see wrong with it, I'm quite unhappy about the bridges everywhere, and how Fruitbag's beard makes him look like an imam. http://i4.tinypic.com/2rc9747.gif |
this looks a tad more "hoodie-ish"

That makes his head look completely out of proportion though. I don't really think there's much doing. I asked Jonni, and I'll ask asdf, they're pretty competent when it comes to solving stencil problems.
|
can you provide an original picture? I was just going by what I thought looked right.
Sorry I couldn't be more help, this is frustrating me :( |
Oh sorry, here dude: http://www.householdnamerecords.co.uk/graphics/photos/thekingblues.jpg
I'm really happy with how Itch came out, but the rest don't look so good. |
I see what you mean now, it does kinda knock things out of proportion.
With the size of the original, I don't know if I can do anything. :(((((((( |
You made the hood thinner by whiting out the outside of it right? Well, what if we made his face bigger? Like, doing the same thing you did, but from the inside, so that the hood stays the same circumference.
Like this, maybe: http://i8.tinypic.com/471ym90.gif I also sorted out Fruitbag's beard a bit. |
Now he just looks fat.

I definitly need to make that. |
that looks way to dificult for me.
i cut pages out of books and put my mp3 player and my gameboy in them for school. works like a charm. |
I just made $563 selling homemade tie-dye and pins at a hippie fest.

What irony!
