Electric Requiem 01-27-2007 02:07 PM

I don't like things cooked with beer.

I got my Opeth dvd I ordered off of Amazon after more then a month, I watched it last night, it was pretty sweet. It's such a shame Lopez isn't with them anymore, he added so much.

Zildjian_man 01-27-2007 02:14 PM

Undisco Kidd 01-27-2007 02:29 PM

Just downloaded some new stuff from eMusic. I was going to get a bunch of Belle & Sebastian EP's that I don't have, just since I spent all 90 of my downloads on jazz last month, but I ended up just getting more jazz.

Cal Tjader - Cuban Fantasy. Holy ****. Incredible latin with vibes. I am a sucker for anything with vibes, and I have been digging latin so much lately. Very good. Great percussion too.

Ray Barretto - Even more latin. Haven't given a full listen to it yet.

Dizzy Gillespie, Roy Eldridge, and Joe Turner - The Trumpet King Meets Joe Turner. Also haven't listened to this, but it's Dizzy + Joe Turner, a blues vocalist. I've been meaning to listen to more blues, so I went ahead and got this.

I've got 28 or so song downloads left. I'll probably end up getting more blues + Belle & Sebastian EP's.

I've got 5 bucks stashed away so when it gets to the dollar theaters I can see it once a week.

I am still freaked out by the pale man.

Spring breakish probably. I'm trying to get wayy better at driving stick so I don't trash it when I get it first, heh. I can do it...just not much practice, so I'm practicing on my friend's car.

Undisco Kidd 01-27-2007 03:00 PM

Dear god.

I am in love with Cal Tjader.
I got my issue with Vinnie in it a couple days ago. I have yet to read it because i've been studying and whatnot, which I should be doing right now but I took a break because I got bored.
I flipped through it a bit though and I remember the song they transcribed was Attack of the 20th Pizza.
I'm Tweeked/Attack of the 20lb Pizza is such an awesome track.
Some really crazy beat displacement in there.

I heard a Q&A session from one of his clinics where he talked about that drum part, and then played it over a quarter note pulse on the hats.

That's the one. (direct link)

fishbulb 01-27-2007 03:36 PM

I'm still playing Zelda: A Link to the Past and it rocks. Most fun i've had in a long time.

maniac0796 01-27-2007 03:51 PM

Has it ever occurred to anyone that the old Yamaha stage custom bridge lugs look exactly the same as the new Tama superstar ones?

LoneStarDrummer 01-31-2007 12:09 AM

bout time the site's back up

LoneStarDrummer 01-31-2007 12:29 AM

how so?

LoneStarDrummer 01-31-2007 12:43 AM

go with mangini

and the hats are the only things i really cared for. i didn't think the ride was that bad, though i don't like the crash at all.

LoneStarDrummer 01-31-2007 12:51 AM

k custom special dry ride = nice
k custom special dry hats = disgusting

the hats are very dead sounding. they have no life to them. they do have their applications, but there are better hats out there for stuff like jazz

TTTSNB 01-31-2007 01:21 AM

Yeah...good to see the site back again. So what did everyone do on their accidental holiday from MX?

Jezen 01-31-2007 02:25 AM

Last night, I somehow discovered I can bust out a pretty mad double stroke roll between my right hand and right foot!

I also learned alot of lessons on musicality, and also on practicing.

TTTSNB 01-31-2007 02:42 AM

^ Sounds cool. I have drum lessons tommorow... going to mostly work on this mambo beat I've been playing, as well as overall swing feel.

Sunshine 01-31-2007 07:01 AM

Whoa hey.

I wasn't expecting it to work.

I...um...did about the same stuff, lately I've been trying not to get online so much anyway. So many better things I could be doing!

Went to the gym yesterday though ^-^

Retarded Chipple 01-31-2007 07:20 AM

Amazing...it works again :)

I got in a bit of extra practice...thats about it hehe

Retarded Chipple 01-31-2007 07:23 AM

Woah, I just got this message from some band in Texas....

[I]Hey we are a Pop punk band and are currently looking for a drummer. Can you do more complicated drumming than on your video? You can check out our music on our site we will be having castings too. Also, are you willing to travel? We are looking for a Travis Barker style drumming not like the drums on our recordings. Let us know.

Thanks,
The Early Strike

Haha, wtf!?

What do you think I should say?

DrumIntoTheNight 01-31-2007 08:09 AM

I got a message like that about two weeks back from some Pop/Rock band from Scotland. It was pretty cool, but I had to turn them down because of college (it was only an audition invitation anyway). They're fairly big aswell, pretty cool.

Whilst MX was down, I managed to get the groove from the last 4 minutes of Deliverence down. I was totally stoked.
