I posted this in the temp casual, but now that this is working, here ya go
Well, since this is the temp casual, here we go.

I finally have a full band! This weekend, me and my guitarist Corey met up with this drummer, Scott, and vocalist, Don, who were tired of their guitarist/bassist and wanted someone new. Corey and I had a drummer with us at one point, but he's been AWOL thanks to the Navy, so, we decided to look for a new drummer in addition to finding a vocalist.

Well, these guys came out to Corey's yesterday to check out our stuff. We played through three songs before they decided they liked what they heard and that they wanted to jam along with us. So we all went out to their storage unit - they actually have space to jam in too, which is something else Corey and I haven't had - and we rocked out for about 4 hours or so, working on our first song. Well, the work was being done by the drummer, so he could learn it, Corey and I have known it for a month or so now...

So yeah, we jammed last night, and then went back out there this afternoon, and the first song is, for all intents and purposes, done now, as a group. The lyrics/vocals still have to be finalized, but overall, very good progress for having only known each other two days really. We basically made this group official, as they are having their now former guitarist and bassist get their stuff out of the unit tomorrow so Corey and I can set up permanently (Unless something really crappy goes down ). We still aren't really named yet, but we're working on that.

I can't really label us, in terms of a genre. It's heavy, metallic, but with softer spots and lots of melody. Don has a really wicked scream, but he sings pretty well too.

Soon as I get recordings, etc, you guys will definetly here about it!

I'm so psyched, because I think this band will finally be the one to go somewhere. There is so much potential, so much talent...it would be very stupid of me to predict how far this band goes, but I have a feeling I will get out there, at least at a local...maybe even regional, level, in the near future!

very cool! you will love it man. Get the ac adaptor too... otherwise you will find yourself buying batteries every week

irishslappop 02-15-2005 12:14 AM

Nice man, isn't it awesome coming homw from a really good jam and just saying "****! that was ****ing badass! i rule!"

Saitoku 02-15-2005 12:17 AM

Yeah, I'm gonna try it out with batteries at first, (energeizer e2, so they should last well) and if that doesn't satisfy, I'll spring for the wall wart.

And congrats, Joz... everyone I know that plays has no motivation. I'm almost desperate enough to put out an ad looking for a band right now.

The JoZ 02-15-2005 12:25 AM

Do it, seriously. Every band situation I've ever been in has come from want ads, including this one.

Saitoku 02-15-2005 12:26 AM

I'm just sitting here listening to my music on winamp, and the song they played at my grandmother's funeral comes on. :upset:

Ah, well.

Saitoku 02-15-2005 12:29 AM

hehe... actually, this song used to make me sad, but now it kinda cheers me up...

It's "Tiny Bubbles" by Dean Martin, if you know it. It was her favorite song.

I was actually really close with my grandmother. I lived with her for about a year and a half helping her around the house before she passed.

Yeah, this is a pretty cool song.

Saitoku 02-15-2005 12:41 AM

Alright, I didn't mean to kill the thread, guys.

Did any of you do anything special for anyone else today?

irishslappop 02-15-2005 12:42 AM

i beat the #2 guy on my tennis team for the #2 spot w00t w00t!!!!! i ownzor a teh t3nni5

Jaded 02-15-2005 12:44 AM

I've renounced alcohol, at least in excess.

17 drinks on an empty stomach is not a good experience.

Saitoku 02-15-2005 12:45 AM

Kick ***.

My fiance's grandparents have a tennis court, so when I go over there I get to make a fool of myself for my lack of tennis skills.

The JoZ 02-15-2005 12:46 AM

I did a whole lot of nothing today.

Have a whole bunch of crap to do tomorrow though. Bleh.

Band practice Wednesday though!!

Bass_swede 02-15-2005 12:46 AM

good morning!

Saitoku 02-15-2005 12:46 AM

Yeah. I haven't been drunk enough to even throw up since that one time that I almost killed myself.

Don't most people have an experience like that at one point?

Bass_swede 02-15-2005 12:46 AM

Oh, I have a distorted avatar :D

Saitoku 02-15-2005 12:48 AM

Yeah, lots of people do. My bass clef picture in my profile was messed up. I had to upload it again. I've noticed that some people have just a link where their avatar should be.

Bass_swede 02-15-2005 12:52 AM

That's Odd, something that tells you "I took a part of the big server crash in February 05" I'm heading of to school now!

Saitoku 02-15-2005 12:53 AM

Alright. I'm bored.... I command you all to entertain me!

Proceed.

Saitoku 02-15-2005 12:56 AM

C'mon. Sock puppet time.

Go.

The JoZ 02-15-2005 12:56 AM

I'm so glad Justin didn't get screwed up :D

I threw up a total of 12 times from friday night to saturday night, and I was hung over until Saturday 7:00 P.M.. I wandered out of a party 20 miles from my house, because I thought my friends had abandoned me. I tried to walk home, but could barely stand up. Luckily, my friend found me, and I crashed at his house. His mom was cool with it though.

See? I'm not the only one here that had a horrifying wake up call. Mine involved about a half liter of vodka the night after getting my wisdom teeth out.

I rarely even get drunk after that.

irishslappop 02-15-2005 01:02 AM

hey lets talk physics im good at that!
