What's a good Off Minor album?

I need to start listening to emo again, I've been on an indie binge lately.

I'd also appreciate recommendations of emo like Cap'n Jazz and Sunny Day, stuff that is softer and more indie influence. Think that's Midwest, but I'm not sure.
Everything Off Minor has released is gold, get whatever you can.

Also get some Vidablue (Ten Grand). < They are the same band.
Fuck, La Quiete own.
La Quiete :chug:

The Great Decay 04-14-2006 08:58 PM

Is Majority Rule worth checking out?

whiteminority 04-14-2006 09:03 PM

Not really, I have their split LP with pg.99 and they were sorta lame in my opinion.

pixiesfanyo 04-14-2006 09:11 PM
Is Majority Rule worth checking out?
They're decent. But you can find other bands that do the same thing.

conniption 04-14-2006 09:13 PM

Majority Rules side of the split isn't that great. I'm listening to Interviews With David Frost right now, its pretty good.

The Vida Blue are WAAAY better than Off Minor. Everyone should check them out immediately.

Brain Toad 04-14-2006 09:40 PM

Guess emo isn't popular 'round here. The Amanda Woodward and Orchid vinyls have been at the record store for a couple weeks now.

deadohiosky9 04-14-2006 09:42 PM

Pick those up dude!

Brain Toad 04-14-2006 09:45 PM

I was going to get the Orchid, but then I couldn't find it and didn't feel like going through the records again. The Amanda Woodward is $12-13 though, a bit pricey for vinyl.

deadohiosky9 04-14-2006 09:55 PM

Yeah 12-13 is waaay too much for that LP.

Brain Toad 04-14-2006 09:58 PM

I think they upped their vinyl prices, makes me not a happy person. I buy vinyl because it's cheap, don't want to buy it when it's the same price as the CD.

Wayyy too many scensters in there today. They probably thought I was a poser because of my unpunk dress in the punx section.

deadohiosky9 04-14-2006 10:13 PM

Hahaha "unpunk dress in the punx section".

Speaking of Amanda Woodward, they have a new 7" coming out, Greg says he'll have the US version in about 2 weeks.

cbmartinez 04-14-2006 10:18 PM

Speaking of Envy, they are doing a US tour after the release of their new album later this summer.
The Vida Blue are WAAAY better than Off Minor. Everyone should check them out immediately.
I guess. Except Off Minor's music incorprates an array of music where as Vidablue is just straight up great screamo.

I downloaded Envy after Griff's orgasmic reaction to it, I'm looking forward to listening.

cbmartinez 04-14-2006 10:21 PM

I always forget about how much Van Johnson own.

Holy shi't. Envy's gonna do a US tour, that is amazing.

cbmartinez 04-14-2006 10:44 PM

Don't make me talk about the most epic show ever that I missed. It involved Envy.

deadohiosky9 04-14-2006 10:52 PM

I would never ask you to recall such a horrible memory.

cbmartinez 04-14-2006 10:53 PM

Vida Blue aren't screamo in the least bit. They don't have that chaotic thing at all. Their music is just a lot off minor single picking, some heavy parts, a lot of mellow moments, and a singer who's really into it.

That sounds good to me. Would they be difficult to find on soulseek?

Saturday Supercade 04-15-2006 05:41 AM

The Vida Blue are so so good!! The lyrics, the vocals, the music..just perfect! Defenitely one of my top 5 bands.

How do they not have any chaotic parts?

Have you ever heard Our Miracle Point of Contact?

Plenty of chaos on that album, especially at the end of Making a Building.

Wow 04-15-2006 08:26 AM

When people here talk about "screamo," they're talking about chaotic music that's very close to grind. The Vida Blue aren't like that at all. Listen to "The Comprehensive List of Everyone that has Ever Done Anything Wrong to Us." Just 'cause a band is fast sometimes doesn't classify them as "screamo."

StandingStill 04-15-2006 08:38 AM

La Quiete for example, just fast emo.

pixiesfanyo 04-15-2006 08:59 AM

Whenever I hear people talking about screamo, I just think of the late '90s emo/screamo movement involving Saetia and Orchid and things.

but whutev. it's just a genre.

they're a great standard emo affair then in comparsion to screamo.

Dude Neeshee did you figure out how to get through that site to order it? Because I kept running into the dude's record collection.

Saetia wouldn't be a part of screamo Orchid would. Like Ash was talking about when screamo is mentioned it usually means the band in question is ****ing chaotic. A good example would be Orchid's Chaos is Me LP.

The Vida Blue own.

SunnyDayRealEstateAM 04-15-2006 09:42 AM

I've been digging Chaos Is Me a lot recently. :)

whiteminority 04-15-2006 09:49 AM

It is a good one.
