By the way, on the subject of One of These Days, who is playing the second bass? And how do they make that crazy reverb effect before the lyrics? It didnt show on LAP.

I'd have to listen to it again, but isn't it just one bass with lots of delay? |

Yea it's just delay, I've done it before with my ME-50. I'll check out the reverb part out again and see if I know what you mean. What's LAP? EDIT: If you mean the crazy noises just before the "One of the days.." line, I'm not exactly sure how they do it. |
I just listened to Meddle again and it rawks. It's really one of their bests. my favortites off the album: San Tropez, Fearless, OOTD, and Pillow of Winds. hehe. That's alsmost the whole album.
|
the synth sound in OOTD sounds like an electric piano.
Dave and Roger played the double basslines in the studio version. |
I'm not a big fan of OOTD, to be honest. It's a good song, but nothing special.
Fearless and Pillow of Winds rock though. |

Guy Pratt's shining moment is that bass improv just between solos in ABITW2
|
i love pillow of winds. a nice peaceful drifty song :)
|
Pillow of Winds is a marvelous song.
Oh, DSOT is Delicate Sound of Thunder. No wonder I was so confused. They (PF) probably meant to do that just to mess with us. |
who is singing on dogs?
who is singing on comfortably numb? |
I'm pretty sure its Waters on Dogz
Waters sings the verse on Comfortably Numb, Gilmour on the chorus. |
YO man, like, i know its cliched and all, but like listening to pink floyd when you just smoked mad is like sooooo intense. theres like so many layers im just like dude man, where are those cash registers coming from, and why does it sound like they go to the beat of the song.. that gets me every time man. that and the fact that the music feels like it actually coming from inside my head, like i identify with whats happening in the music. the sonic blasts
hitting a bowl... like RIGHT NOW |
Right on, man. Keep on tokin' on.
|
Doesn't Gilmour sing on at least some of Dogs?
|
^He sings everything until Waters comes in for the last verse.
|
Gilmour sings on the first half of Dogs, Waters sings on the second half, I thought. But, I haven't listened to Animals in awhile, so I don't remember too well. I just no that the first speaking "dog" entity is Gilmour, and the younger apprentice dog is Waters.
I think it's kind of funny how much Pink Floyd is associated with drugs, considering that none of them (bar Syd) were heavy drug users. |
Meh, they all hit a joint or two in their day ;) Nothing along the lines of the Beatles and Led-Zep though, they were practically straight compared to them.
|
I heard Aerosmith did quite a lot of toking back in the day.
|
I don't really like Aerosmith. Haven't heard much, but don't like what I have.
|
I like Aerosmith a lot. I have a DVD and a few of their CDs.

And I think it's more the pathetic losers who claim PF is only good when stoned that have given the band that reputation. |
My English teacher last year was in love with Aerosmith.

And I think it's more the pathetic losers who claim PF is only good when stoned that have given the band that reputation.
I heard Roger Waters did a bit of acid in the early days. And I think Mason had a cocaine problem late in their career. Not sure though. In comparison with other band's of their time, they were kind of clean though. I know Perry and Tyler did quite a bit of heroine, but I don't know much about Aerosmith. |

True about the drug thing. While the members did do some drugs, they were quite tame by comparison to most other bands in the 60's and 70's. Also, the music is not at all drug induced. Once again, bar Syd's work. |
So, last night around ten, my dad and I turned on TV to see if the US Open womens semi finals was still on (which it wasn't) except, a local channel was broadcasting a Hurricane Katrina concert, and I saw the end of a song, and I thought, wow these guys are really good, they have awesome lighting, and they sound a ton like Pink Floyd. So they start their next song, I was like wow this sounds just like Sorrow, and then I realised it was. It was Aussie Floyd playing. They only played three more songs (Run Like Hell, Money, and Comfortably Numb) but they were all great. I'd love to see these guys.
|
Wow, that's pretty cool, I didn't even know there was one on last night. Was it broadcasting in the USA? I admittedly haven't been keeping up much with news/TV lately...

There was one of Fox and ABC. It was only an hour long though, 8-9. I didn't see Aussie Floyd on it, but I was flipping channels between that and the Yankee game. I could have missed it, or it could have been a different concert, since none of the performers I saw did more than 1 song. |

It might have been a different concert, or the local channel just played more songs. |

I wish I watched the concert on a local channel. I couldn't believe the concert would only be for 1 hour. My local channel blows though, so they probably wouldn't have shown it. Maybe I can find the show on the internet. /begins seach |
