hey plebian scum: you arent a stuck up spandex biker are you? i sure hope not. when i saw the a with the bike the first thing i thought of was those damn spandex bikers that think they have the right of way next to ****ing 2,000 pound cars. bastards.
ill post pics of my vans if i can find them and if i can find my camera. |

Hah, I do that, it beats riding in the gutter and getting punctures every half an hour. You want me to treat cars as equals? Fine, I'll ride in the middle of the road! |

I've never worn spandex and I don't have a nice bike, but it is my main mode of transportation. I try not to get in the way, but I do assert my right to the road if I need to. If there's no room to the right or there's a turn lane on red, I merge to the middle. I make left turns too. But I don't cut off drivers (unless I'm being forced off by some jerk) -- though lots of people are nice and give me right of way regardless, which always makes my day. Bikes are traffic, and should be treated no better nor worse than cars. So, yeah, I might be one of those bastards. I wouldn't say I'm stuck up though. This country would be a better place if more people biked. EDIT: Though I suppose critical mass is an exception to my above thoughts. we're assholes there, and I'm sure it does nothing but piss people off. But it's fun and uniting. |
When I bike I go wherever the **** I want.
**** cars. |
Biking can only take you so far. At some point you need a car. Unless you live in a city in which case you can use public transportation.

That's sort of what I said in the spring when I bought a new bike. But I've gone all summer with hardly using a car, and it's been a very rewarding experience. Unless I'm going somewhere with my family, I average one or two car rides a week -- and most of those I could probably avoid. Now I'm telling people I'm not going to get my driver's license. But the real test comes this winter. Not looking forward to that too much. :\ |
I have a bike which I use if I'm going to the shops or library - about 6 miles return.
If I'm going anywhere else I get a lift, walk, or take the bus to the tube station (same distance, about 2 miles away), and get the tube up to town. London is fantastic, I have no need for a car, screw all you guys paying £3000/year just for insurance. |

I would ride into central London on my bike if I thought I could handle Highgate Hill and Holloway Road, but I don't think my leg muscles are strong enough for X miles of uphill riding. |
I'm in a good spot right now, being in a large university and all. I walk/bike where I need to go, as everything is a mile within campus. The few trips I take out of town I'm able to use the town metro bus system. I've enjoyed it quite a bit, thus far, I think I might try it when I'm back home.

I take public transit esxlusively. It may smell like poo, but there are ways of getting on for free or dirt cheap if you know how to cheat it and it makes you feel independant. plus, what a colourful bunch.
|
I've never used public transit.

Man, I just go from Stirling corner to High Barnet, lol. I've walked Archway - Soho a few times though, its decent exercise, but Highgate Hill, are you joking? Also even if I could cycle the 15 miles to Charing Cross I wouldn't, because I'd be too drunk to cycle home. Hence why I take public transport everywhere. |
I've never used public transit.
You should, it's awesome. I don't know if you guys have a night bus system in cities in the States, but here in London, I can get from Oval to Finchley on two night buses (that's South London to North London, a big fucken hike). Plus, you meet some pretty cool people on the Tube/bus. |
I would use it if we had it like you guys have it.
I'm pretty sure the local transit here goes from like... the station to a grocery store or something. I don't think we have it like you guys. |
For all the shit TFL gets, we actually have the best public transport system in the world.
The tube is the best underground network (wipes the floor with the ones in Rome, Paris and New York), and I'm sure our buses are pretty much second to none in the variety and overall regularity. Meeting people on the night bus is the shit  |
Tube's getting worse though. Should never have privatised it.

But if you live in the city then obviously public tranportation is more heavily used. On another note, I recently purchased a black zip-up hoodie with which I plan to put patches on. I've already made a few patches. I'll post pics when I'm all done with it. |
ok, you kids dont understand. im all about biking. i used to go on adventures and ride my bike to the other end of town. its the stupid stuck up spandex bikers that i dont like. you dont understand, they travel in packs of no less than 50 and they take up the bike lane and a regular lane and they seem to care less that there are huge cars trying to get by them. when i bike, i go on the sidewalk and if there isnt one then i go as far off the road as i can do to the abundant amount of cars speeding past. there is one spandex biker who i have the utmost respect for however. he has not feet. he has nubs at his ankles, and he made little bindings i guess for them and he leans up against streetlights or whatevers around. that guy is the only good one.

So do all of you live in the city?? i was thinkin bout the bike, but i live far away from averything, and the things close to me are close enough to walk. Also public transportaion suck here.

Pointless...I can't hold kevin back...he know mad Tai Kwan Do.

So sadly my attempt at making a Black Flag patch today was a failure. I accidently left the stencil on the fabric to dry and the paint glued the paper to the fabric. Oh well, the stencil was a little too small anyway so I will be going for my second attempt tomorrow.
|
What fabric do people use to make patches? The time I did it, I just cut up an old shirt, but I don't think that's the way to do it.

You expect 50 riders to all use the sidewalk? Or all stick to the bike lane? The sidewalk is for pedestrians, you know, for people to walk on. The road is for vehicles. And in most places around the world bikes are considered vehicles. I stick to the road as much as I can. |

Kevin's a Chinaman, Tay Kwon Do is Korean. |
Apart from the fact that its spelt Tae Kwan Do.

I don't really know what fabric I use. It's just some black fabric I bought at Jo Anne Fabrics and I use white fabric paint on it. Works pretty well. |
okay guys, finally got around to taking pictures of some of my poopy diy shirts.
