True. Well Overcast and Aftershock are early/mid 90's though. They're the only really early bands I know.

fajitaben2 11-06-2007 06:47 PM

Just listen to Hate Eternal \m/

Charizard 11-06-2007 06:56 PM

Fail.

Tyler 11-06-2007 06:57 PM

Hate Eternal? As in the horrible death metal band, or am I missing something?

RetiredAt21 11-06-2007 07:04 PM

He probably means the horrible death metal band.

ThoughtlessThoughts 11-06-2007 08:05 PM

Converge isn't metalcore.

Say what you will. But if you listen to ALL of their albums, you'll find it pretty difficult to call them metalcore.

Seriousley...

No, if you listen to all their albums you'll just hear a distinctive blend of metal and hardcore that's too hard to call either way, thus making it metalcore.

Seriously...

It sounds like jeff hanneman sold the guitarist all the riffs he wrote from his teenage years, and never used.

To me, its dirty thrash metal.

Concubine 11-06-2007 08:31 PM

lol

masscows 11-06-2007 08:38 PM

...what?

Or it's hardcore with "dirty thrash metal riffs", thus making it metallic hardcore thus making it metalcore.

You're the only person I've seen dumb enough to say they werent metalcore, and not surprisingly your only proof is "they sound like they're using Slayer riffs".

Good job, because the band themselves have said that they were "hardcore kids with leftover Slayer riffs"

I never mentioned slayer. I mentioned Jeff Hanneman... and interesting that they say that.

Anyway... I hear more thrash than hardcore. And ****, I even hear a little hardcore in most thrash, so to me... its thrash. Argue all you want, when I listen to this music, I will always hear thrash.
