Sup thread.

Sup Jus-tan

My evening is boring as balls. Minus talking to the gf for a few hours I've done nothing heh.

Oh ****. Like my laundry I was supposed to pick up 2 hours ago. Damnit.

DJ Ducksauce 01-27-2006 07:37 PM

Sounds fun.

I love the weekend. It means no school. Too bad I have homework. :(

Permanent Solution 01-27-2006 07:43 PM

I get trained as a DJ tomorrow, yessss!

DJ Ducksauce 01-27-2006 07:49 PM

That's tight. What kind of things are you going to be playing at when you're done?

Permanent Solution 01-27-2006 07:51 PM

Well for the first year I kinda play what the radio chooses. There's a top list for the week on this page:
http://theblaze1260.com/music/

But after a year if I'm still there I can create a "specialty" show which can be whatever. They have a metal and a ska/punk one currently.

DJ Ducksauce 01-27-2006 07:55 PM

That's cool. As long as it's not a pop/hit/country station. That would suck.

Permanent Solution 01-27-2006 07:58 PM

No, it's a very Indie/local music station. I'll actually be out of my element there because I'm not a huge Indie nerd heh.

DJ Ducksauce 01-27-2006 08:04 PM

Get Butler to do it. :p

I'm not big on indie much either, I have a friend that is though, so I know a few bands.

billiejoe84 01-27-2006 09:12 PM

So.

BotB ended up being both good and bad.

Read the blurb about us in the programme:
Last minute replacements for Kobayashi, Wake Up Call are sure to provide us with a quality slice of pop-punk. If performed well this genre is guaranteed to put a smile on everyone's face and Wake Up Call seem to be one of a dying breed at the University. Will the short notice they were given to play tell, or will we all be blown away in a whirlwind of Green Day-esque punk that takes us back to when we were sixteen and life was so much simpler? We shall have to wait and see.
We had to play first (out of 6), thus to an annoyingly depleted audience, which was the last thing we needed, having zero support of our own anyway. However, we proceeded to play a rocking set (I cut the index finger on my right hand and bled everywhere, that's how hard I was hitting my guitar), and were followed by:

Band 2: Generic but inventive and clued-up student indie, with lots of support. My friend's band.
3: Electronica, ambitious and musically complex but uninteresting and not well rehearsed.
4: Apallingly generic student indie
5: Apallingly generic student indie
6: Apallingly generic student indie, but a bit more inventive in places and with an attractive female singer. And huge amounts of support.

Bearing in mind the top 2 bands went through (as judged by audience vote, and a panel of 'impartial' judges) who do you guys reckon scooped the top spots?

Gnarmageddon 01-27-2006 09:14 PM

2 and 6.

billiejoe84 01-27-2006 09:16 PM

You shut up. You already know.

I mean.... Ignore Spencer, everyone.

Mute Print 01-27-2006 09:18 PM

I might be completely off, but I'll say 2 and 6.

:p

billiejoe84 01-27-2006 09:23 PM

Well, at least we got 3rd. Which, considering the circumstances (no support, un-trendy music, little rehearsal time or live experience), I think is pretty decent. Plus we have had an offer to play at an upcoming punk bands night on campus, as a result of our performance tonight, which is a plus.

I can't wait to hear the recording though. We were so fast and hard, I doubt half of the audience knew what was going on. If nothing else, when you're used to your amp filling a small room, being able to hit a chord and hear it fill a large hall is an amazing feeling.

Permanent Solution 01-27-2006 09:30 PM

James I'm gonna have to third this guess that 2 and 6 were the winners. <_<

/late

DJ Ducksauce 01-27-2006 09:37 PM

2 and 6?...

/random guessing ++ ;)

billiejoe84 01-27-2006 09:41 PM

OK, you guys can stop now.

Damn Spencer...

Oh yeah, if anyone's interested, this is the other pop-punk band (who also played really well and went out in favour of generic indie bands) playing last night, on the same stage.

DJ Ducksauce 01-27-2006 09:42 PM

Oh, you said it would be recorded. I can't find it on the site. Donde esta?

I missed it live because I wasn't home then. :(

billiejoe84 01-27-2006 09:45 PM

Well, sir, the recording won't be up just yet.

And I don't think they actually broadcast it live this year. Bloody Bandsoc.

Whatever, it should all be up tomorrow, and links will be posted.

DJ Ducksauce 01-27-2006 09:50 PM

Oh, ok.

Well congrats on 3rd anyways. I'm sure you deserved better by the sound of it.

CommieCanada 01-27-2006 10:11 PM

Permanent Solution 01-27-2006 11:01 PM

I just handwrote like 3 pages. Ow.

DJ Ducksauce 01-27-2006 11:12 PM

I hate writing. Es no bueno.

Permanent Solution 01-27-2006 11:13 PM

I love writing, but usually I type it. Most especially because my handwriting is total ****.

But letters are better written by hand, more personal.
