That's nuts. Our universities here just charge by the course, and whether it's one semester, or full-year. I'm pretty sure $1500 would get you a whole year's class (6ch) instead of just one semester.
:upset:

I'm kind of S.O.L. There are two other universities in state (both 2 hours away from me), that are about $100-150/c.h. cheaper, but I can't move away from my job - I wont be able to afford living on my own and tuition on the minimum-wage-only job opportunities that I'll have.

I may have enough saved for a down payment for a payment plan for Spring semester, but going on the payment plan means that I have to pay an extra $100. It's absurd.
My tuition for four courses this winter is $2100. $1500 is more than my out of province supplement alone.
Yeah, I think one semester of full-time school at STU was $2400/semester. Which was as many courses as you could take as long as it was more than 3 and less than 7.

Yay tuition freezes.

So, may have done extremely poorly on one of my exams.
I was not told which the short story I was supposed to write on, because the exam guidelines said it would be one that my instructor had already assigned. Turns out that didn't mean one of those assigned in the course. She "assigned" the story in the one class I missed, and neglected to mention it when I asked her about the exam later.
I'm also boned because I can't appeal based on missing classes.
Wheeee. Good thing I dropped the English major, and that I nailed the other two sections of the exam.

BenJammin 12-07-2009 01:07 PM

That sucks. That was a dick move on the part of the prof.

FunkMetalBass 12-07-2009 01:21 PM

Good news - I can still afford to take English 102 (online) at the local community college, for only $300. I've been neglecting it for 3 years...probably time for me to take it.

I'll probably still have to opt for the second job, though.
That sucks. That was a dick move on the part of the prof.
Yes. Yes it was.

Pros:
1. It's over
2. Never have to do it again
3. Will still pass the course

After recording with my Spector Legend, I realize that I'm not happy with the bridge pickup's tone. I love the P-Bass-like tone that I get from the neck pickup, but the bridge pickup isn't as fat as I'd like it to be.

Can anybody comment on the tone of EMG 45P, EMG 45J or EMG TWs? Specifically, how they compare to p-bass and j-bass tones?

funkyhoney 12-09-2009 08:33 AM

I got assaulted at work, lame.

BenJammin 12-09-2009 08:38 AM

You got assaulted at a pet store?

Get with it. I work at a bottle shop now.

gaslight 12-09-2009 08:54 AM

Brutal, what's the story?

Cash payout?

funkyhoney 12-09-2009 09:26 AM

Well I'm covered for the stitches, ambo ride, painkillers and local anaesthetic, the cops in a rare display of skill actually caught them and are charging them with theft and assault. So I might be able to get something, other than that all I get is a few paid shifts and such.

funkyhoney 12-09-2009 09:38 AM

Oh right, the story. Well, I was restocking a fridge and heard a carton get moved behind me, I turned around and saw a guy holding it and two others behind the counter holding spirits. At first I thought they were just morons (yes **** like that happens quite often) but as they started to walk off and I asked what the **** they though they were doing and they asked me if I wanted to get ****ed up I figured something was wrong.

Anyway I couldn't really stop them as they were starting to walk away and another 3 went behind the counter from around the corner (this is an open drive-thru bottle shop, with one staff member, yeah, real smart operation) so I figured I'd at least try to stop them, they made some generic threats and tried to shove past me so I grabbed one around the the neck and tried to pull the bottles off him. Then one of the other ones king hit me in the back of the head and I got thrown into a fridge and smashed my head open.

By that time a couple of bottles got dropped and broken in the scuffle and some people had come up and the bartender from the next bar over chased them as saw them going towards the trains station. I was getting all woozy and sent out an emergency page over the PA and one of the other bar staff sat me down until someone came and gave me first aid until the ambo and cops arrived.

Gave my statement, got some good eyewitness accounts and descriptions, good CCTV footage, cops shut down their train and caught them while I was on the way to hospital. Got 5 stitches to close it up and finally got to go home around midnight. Got a lot of calls to take tomorrow from compo, managers and cops.

I win at life.

FunkMetalBass 12-09-2009 10:48 AM

Ouch, dude, that's rough.

Way to step it up, though, with the grapple moves.

Can you post the video footage on youtube when you get a chance?

BenJammin 12-09-2009 10:49 AM

That's pretty intense, guy.

It's very unlikely but now you've said it, it seems like a fantastic idea to try and get my hands on it.

funkyhoney 12-09-2009 12:03 PM

I'm lol'ing now because my last two status updates on facebook are like "I probably shouldn't go to work tonight" and 10 hours later "I got assaulted at work tonight."

Spaceman Spiff 12-09-2009 07:38 PM

It's gay.

And not in an offensive to homos way.

funkyhoney 12-09-2009 08:28 PM

I know right?

gaslight 12-09-2009 09:07 PM

Yeah looks like a bunch of ginger beers to me.

Convectuoso 12-09-2009 09:19 PM

The one on the far left is the worst. That look...ugh...enough to want to rip someone's head off.

funkyhoney 12-09-2009 09:59 PM

Far right is worst IMO.

gaslight 12-09-2009 10:17 PM

Are they your friends?

funkyhoney 12-09-2009 10:44 PM

No, just some douchebags dating the slappers I went to high school with.

In other news: I'm a badass.

gaslight 12-09-2009 10:51 PM

Remove facebook from your life and you'll be a badass.

funkyhoney 12-09-2009 11:07 PM

Yeah, I would personally but it's good for band promotion.

gaslight 12-09-2009 11:24 PM

That's an excuse to have a band account but not a personal one.

funkyhoney 12-09-2009 11:32 PM

Our manager thinks personal ones are good because it gives fans the illusion of knowing us.

gaslight 12-09-2009 11:35 PM

Yeah people are pretty pathetic like that.

FunkMetalBass 12-10-2009 10:22 AM

So, I'm selling my Boss ODB-3 and my Wasabi Delay pedal to fund a Big Muff Pi. The thing has it's own built-in blender, so I can lightly mix some overdrive/distortion with my dry tone. That way I can still cut through and retain tonal integrity while adding some grit over the top to toughen it up a bit. How sweet is that?! It's only $80 too, so I should break even on this one (in any case, selling off my old pickups and parts has already covered the cost).

FunkMetalBass 12-10-2009 11:01 AM

Why is nobody else excited about this?

gaslight 12-10-2009 11:06 AM

That is quite sweet for live applications. The equivalent of sitting in studio with a dry DI, wet mic two signal thing going on and blending them later. Sounds very nifty to me.

I guess they actually make blender pedals that have an FX loop and a single output, that way you can run through all of your effects and keep as much dry signal as you want. This is news to me, but it definitely sounds like the best way to get the subtle effects sounds that I'm looking for.
