I've heard a bit of her stuff. Mushaboom is a great song.
Yeah, it really is. I got a copy of her remixes album for really cheap, and there's, like, 4 different versions of Mushaboom on it. In the liner notes, she was talking about how they did one remix and then someone came along and wanted to do another one, and then a third person and then another person and then she was just, like, "Alright, enough remixes of this song!"

Spaceman Spiff 11-13-2006 03:09 PM

And speaking of which, I think I recently heard Mushaboom on a Levi's commercial or something. I always hear classic songs on Levi's commercials, like Faith No More's cover of Easy.

Edit: I knew it! She is one of 17 million members of Broken Social Scene!

Ben, since I'm on my huge Decemberists trip right now, and I know you like them.
http://www.archive.org/details/thedecemberists2006-11-06.akg463.flac16

You can download the show I was at from that link there. They're all FLAC files, so it's fairly large, but the quality is pretty good. I'd say it's worth it. :D

Just checked, 665MB.

/cries

That's huge.

/goes to download

I'll convert them later.

Spaceman Spiff 11-13-2006 03:24 PM

Yeah, I don't have anything to convert it with, but I should probably find a program to do it with sometime, because I've got a few concerts in FLAC format on my computer that take up a large amount of space.

And archive.org is actually one of the greatest sites.

Yeah. I'm trying to see if I can kind a recording of the RHCP show I was at.

Spaceman Spiff 11-13-2006 03:31 PM

Do you know a good program for converting audio files?

I have one, but it doesn't do FLAC for some reason.

I don't know one, no. I was gonna go hunting later.

http://www.download.com

Try there.

Spaceman Spiff 11-13-2006 03:33 PM

Meh. I'll wait. :p

Laziness conquers all.

BenJammin 11-13-2006 03:35 PM

Truly so.

I'm out to actually fully concentrate on my essays.

Back in a while.

thelowsoundofbass 11-13-2006 03:35 PM

So the regular bus that I take from school home wasn't running for some reason today. So the trip that take 12 minutes on one bus, turned into 50 minutes on two busses. I hate the bus.

That's why I drive.

My room is unreasonably cold right now and my room is the warmest part of the house.

I don't have the money to have a car. My apartment is always nice and warm. 11th floor does that.

Something I've never understood is when bands go on tour and play the exact same setlist every night. Where's the fun in that?

Spaceman Spiff 11-13-2006 04:37 PM

Howdy.

Left Shoe 11-13-2006 04:47 PM

hows everyone doing today?

mad headache right now, maaad headache.

BenJammin 11-13-2006 04:49 PM

Everybody give me attractive fretboard/top wood combinations.

I want something a little more exotic than an ebony fretboard/flamed maple top when I get my custom, and I want an idea of what I want before I place the quote request.

Akira 11-13-2006 04:50 PM

You going for a 9 string?

Coco Bolo is sex.

Left Shoe 11-13-2006 04:52 PM

akira sorry about not getting back to you about the boa prelims date, i can rip a video of the show and put it up soon if you want

Muse are one of the only bands I know that change their songs/song order.

This is usually bad thing because there's always the chance you get the band end of the stick and the next date on the tour turns out to be 100gazillionx better.

BenJammin 11-13-2006 04:55 PM
You going for a 9 string?

I've decided to go with an 8 with a d-tuner on the B string, if I really need to go any lower. A good speaker (i.e. my Epifani) really makes that B string sound immense, so I don't know if I need a whole extra string worth of lowness.

I like cocobolo as a fretboard material, but not as a top.

But if you're really into a band, there shouldn't be that big of a possibility that you're going to think the set was crap.

Whilst this is true, that doesn't stop the next date's setlist being 100gazzilionx better.

So you're going BEADGCFBb? That's hot.
You know what would really be cool? A 9 tuned B-Eb. That'd be like having a bass and guitar in one.

Thonk 11-13-2006 04:58 PM

Cocobolo.

Yeah, my guitar playing friends aren't going to be very impressed when they start to solo and I solo higher.
This man knows his stuff.
Like I editted in to my other post, cocobolo for me only works well as a fretboard material. I don't care for it as a top wood.

Polyamarous 11-13-2006 05:02 PM

Cocobolo is going to cost you big bucko, it's several times more dense than ebony, so difficult and arguous to work withand breathing in cocobolo is toxic.

Plus it aint cheap in the first place.

Do you think that if I'm paying for a custom bass, another couple hundred in extra wood costs is really gonna bug me?

Polyamarous 11-13-2006 05:04 PM

Well I'm not sure how much more it would be, and if you where on a budget.

My budget is $3000-3500, so don't worry :)

Sexiest cocobolo EVAR.

Polyamarous 11-13-2006 05:06 PM

It's also very nearly extinct, and used in pistol grips.

Sweet.

Akira 11-13-2006 05:07 PM

I really like spalted maple.
And it's not for everyone, but a nice, not too busy buckeye burl top makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
