It's awesome. I love how some of the riffs from the song are heard on Orchid. It's such an evil-sounding song.. one of Opeth's heaviest ever.
Yeah, you could actually classify them as death metal with that song.

Well if you're into Pelican, I assume you already had that album.

As well as Morningrise, I believe parts of it were used in Advent as well as Forest of October.

azbassman 12-30-2005 03:07 PM

Just ripped the plastic off of my new Opeth album...My Arms, Your Hearse

^Hey, we live in the same place. Where you go to school? Wow. Our birthday is exactly a day apart. Weird.

I can't find Still Life, MAYH and Orchid. I actually have seen them in random stores but couldn't get them. At least I have the mp3's of them but it would be great to own the CD's.

In order to get those albums you'll probably have to get them off of amazon.com or something. I think that's what I'm going to have to do in order to get Orchid.

Otherside 12-30-2005 03:47 PM

Actually.. I think I've seen Orchid at Target before :\

Hm... I'm pretty sure...

Ive seen Orchid alot. I can find Morningrise or Still Life anywere. Im going to have to order them.

EDIT for otherside: At target are you serious. Ive only seen metalcore bands at target.

Stoo 12-30-2005 04:34 PM

Where I live, the 2 "rarest" Opeth albums are D&D. By that I mean I've came across them least amount of times when browsing the Opeth CD's. (Only came across either of them once.)

Whereas the others I see more. I've realised that it depends on what shops you go to. I've never been in a shop that has all 8 "Observations" :p displayed. Has anyone? Usually they're are only 3-4 different ones, when I look.

No the most ive seen is four.

Shadius 12-30-2005 04:40 PM

I'm pretty sure i've seen every Opeth album apart from Damnation in stores near me. I live in England; and regulary see the albums a lot of people seem to saying are rarer.

Ha...wow that's sad.

There are three cd stores where I live, and in every one of them the only Opeth release I've ever come across is GR, which I already own. They said they could order it in for me, but the last time I tried to do that it took two months :/

FYE in my town hardly has any metal anymore. Whenever I go in there and want something, I always end up ordering it. And when I do order it, the retard behind the counter mocks the band name, or the album art etc etc. Yeah, he needs to just go die somewhere.

There used to be one full rack, like 30 feet long just for metal/hard rock. Now it's almost all Rap. I was amazed to see they had 1 copy of each: Orchid, Morningrise, Still Life, Deliverance but no Ghost Reveries. I'd figure that Ghost Reveries would be flooded on the Opeth selection tray, but nope.

Shadius 12-30-2005 06:21 PM

Ghost Reveries has been sold out lately, what with the sales and all.

MidnightRider 12-30-2005 06:46 PM

At the best buy here where I live, they normally have the entire discography minus Still Life, but I have seen it there before.
They don't even mention the concert on their website. Anyway, it's the premier concert/stage play joint in the city so it shouldn't be over 18. Yay, I'm seeing Opeth.
Yer I even rang the place up and they had no clue, this was about mid December, i'll probably give another ring February to see if they have things sorted out

Which date are you going to go on? I'm going to go the 24th since next day is anzac day and i won't have to wake up for school :)

p.s. turned 17 on 27th, yay!

Hey guys.. I mentioned before I was going out to get a bought version of Morningrise... well the store was sold out of them, BUT they had Orchid and My Arms, Your Hearse! So I bought both of those! :D

Nice...cant have one so you got two. Thats the way to go. Im listening to The Amen Corner right now.

TojesDolan 12-31-2005 08:32 AM

Yeah so talking about albums... I finally got to watch the "Lamentations" DVD. Fucking amazing. Despite the vocals being a bit odd here and there, It's an amazing watch. The documentary is pretty informative.

And that's how I really got into "Damnation". I really can't get over "Hope leaves" and "In my time of need". Amazing stuff.

Just in case you wondered, of course. :D:D

Morningrise > Orchid + My Arms.

Maybe, anyway. Still, I wouldn't be disappointed with two new Opeth albums.

I bought both of those on Thursday.

Darkness 12-31-2005 11:19 AM

I'm just happy because... they're normally impossible to find around here.

Yeah the DVD is awesome. The documentary is really interesting, too, to see them recording and stuff

MidnightRider 12-31-2005 03:14 PM

I really need to get Lamentations, though I haven't been able to find it anywhere. Where did you'll get it at?

ok lateralus 12-31-2005 03:14 PM

If you live in the US, you could probably find it at Best Buy, or Amazon.com definitely has it

MidnightRider 12-31-2005 03:24 PM

Best Buy doesn't have it, I guess I'll have to get it off Amazon.

Supreven 12-31-2005 03:59 PM

Was reading the local Vancouver newspaper (The Province) the other day, and they were listing the top 10 concerts (in Vancouver) and albums of the year. Strangely enough, Opeth made it to both lists.. I don't disagree with it, I'm a huge opeth fan and loved the concert and GR, just strange that a death metal band is even mentioned in a mainstream newspaper like The Province, kinda cool..

Deth 12-31-2005 04:18 PM

I got Lamentations from Spec's for about $11.

Huzzah for mainstream Opeth mention.

Shattered_Future 12-31-2005 05:27 PM

The one place that had Lamentations doesn't have it anymore...checked there today.

It was overpriced though...

TojesDolan 12-31-2005 06:04 PM

17 bucks for a DVD wasn't overpriced to me, but considering it's actually around 11 bucks... Hell. Whatever. I have it with me anyways.

Anyhow, I've seen most Opeth albums run around with tag prices over 20 bucks and I ask ""wtf" and they tell me they are "rare".

"rare".

¬___________¬

azbassman 12-31-2005 06:07 PM

Most ive seen an Opeth album for is like $15.

Shattered_Future 12-31-2005 06:15 PM

I've seen $18, but not $20.

Wow I wish I had your CD stores. The cheapest one I could find at mine was a copy of Ghost Reveries that was going for 18.

I hate FYE.

Shattered_Future 12-31-2005 06:34 PM

Oh god, FYE is one of the worst places to buy stuff...

JamJar 12-31-2005 07:00 PM
I've seen $18, but not $20.
Wow that's cheap. Opeth albums are about £14-17 here which is about $30. Though Still Life is really cheap here for some reason at about £7.

Shattered_Future 12-31-2005 07:05 PM

Still Life you can't find anywhere here...I think that's because stores here have to import it, while over there, you don't.

Dunno why the rest are so high though...
