Also, another thing that slipped my mind until right now (arguably the biggest flaw):
-2 Live Crew is not early/old-school rap; they are considered Dirty South/Party Rap, and instead of building a foundation for rap (as Grandmaster Flash and Run-DMC did), they helped contribute the Dark Age of Rap (1989-1991). Hell, I would have nixed 2 Live Crew altogether; the purpose of the FG was to clear up misconceptions about rap, no? Also, I hate to stomp on your toes here, but with all due respect, I think you could have spent some of the time on your favorites on uploading some more Pac. Pac is arguably to rap what Miles is to jazz, what Marley is to reggae, what BB King is to the blues: an icon, a paradigm. I can't stress that enough. |
Everyone should go and check out This band, whom Det Nossip thoughtfully wrote a thread on.

Question: Is it racist that I just saw the love of my life talking to a Jewish boy and now I'm steaming pissed?
|
Ray - if you dislike the FG so much, write a continuation of it and I'm sure ATM will edit yours into his post.
Cemetary Gates- She probably doesn't like you because when she talks to you, you just change the subject to something irrelevant and meaningless. |
I'm going to get around to it. Right now I can't stay focused enough to write that much, though.

Okay, so my FG sucks then. |
It was good, it just could have had more history in addition to the uploads.
|
ATM, your FG sucks
Since I clearly said it did, yes. Tony Danza gets owned in a go-cart race |

I liked it :-\ I'll be honest here, though: if you expected Ray to not question and nitpick what you wrote... well, you can finish this sentence I'm sure. NP: The Clincher |
What's that supposed to mean?
|
That your favourite kind of music is rap, so you were always going to nitpick. Same as anyone when reading an article on their favourite genre or band or something.
|
Ohhh. I get it now.
Good to know. EDIT: It (the FG) definitely seemed kinda rushed. There was minimal background about the music. It was like, "Yadda yadda, here's some uploads". |
It could also mean that Ray always bitches about things (:))
|
It could also mean that Ray always bitches about things (:))
That's what I took it to mean, actually. And "Mario and Luigi"? I don't get it :( |
And "Mario and Luigi"? I don't get it :(
( :p )
I think me using the lol smiley ruined it. /edits I have a couple Chevelle questions about the song "Still Running" (to anyone who'd know the answer): 1. The version that's on The Punisher OST... was this just a "demo" version of the song? Or did they just re-do the song for TToT(CDUI)? The latter version is far more superior to me. 2. Does anyone know what the disclaimer at the beginning of the song is? Either my speakers really suck, or my ears do :( |
Wow.
So one of my mom's co-workers' daughter refuses to watch "24" because she feels it is racist--because the bad guys this season are Muslims. Yes, the show where the BLACK president for the first three seasons was undoubtedly the classiest, most well-spoken, and most honorable character on the show...is racist. Where the Hispanic head of CTU for the first three seasons, who was at worst the second-most competent employee after Jack...is racist. Gotta love it. |
It bothers me when Blacks (or any people) complain about Huck Finn being racist, when Jim (the former slave who escapes with Huck) is clearly the person with the strongest morals and character in the novel. It seems to me that Twain only used the n-word to accurately portray the the society of that region at the time.
And I do understand (or at least attempt to understand) how offensive the n-word is, but it just seems like people saw it and started screaming racist before even reading the book. All the white people in the novel are basically horrible people, with a few minor exceptions. |
It's well-documented that Mark Twain was highly critical of our racist society. Educated people know that Huck Finn was not a racist novel; it just depicted what society was like back then.
Edit: It's not just some blacks who complain about it. It's the white PC Police pvssies too. |

Thats my point, but then there's always people trying to get the book banned from school and such. The irony of it annoys me. |

Like the co-worker's daughter...she goes to a school which, according to my mom, is all-white. In other words, she's one of those New England Liberals who champions the rights of minorities but has no idea how to act around or talk to one. |

Shes just part of the growing number of confused youth in America who think it's cool to be really liberal without having any political facts or knowledge. |
It is cool to be liberal in attitude without any specific knowledge of liberal theory, I think. It's when they go around proclaiming that they are Liberal-with-a-capital-L with no real idea of liberal thought that the problems begin.
|
That's how it is with people in New England. They're liberal because everyone in the region is, but they're no less ignorant than anyone else--they rely on racial stereotypes too, more than anyone else in the country thinks they do.
Hell, on average, Southerners are more receptive of blacks than New Englanders. |
