 That'd be great.
Yes but only if he's getting overly spammy ;). |
I also gave a jazz site. Mine is oldschool jazz though, not the cool new fusion type stuff you kids are listening to.
I dont listen to the new fusion that much. I like the upbeat 50's and 60's Jazz. |
I really am a whore.
Nice usetitle FF. |
To Bartender: It's much more than a Jazz site, if you dont already know.
Yeah, I do now. It was still just a jazz site to me when I repped you, though. |
Haha, yeah that is a good user title.
|

And that's also what I repped you for. I'm consistent, I am. |

I like old school piano or trumpet jazz! |

Yep. Me too. Thanks for the Oscar Peterson recommendation, he's fantastic. |
I just realized something I hate. WHen people say that a musician was really good when it was someone who was only influential, not actually that talenented. I was just thinking of those old blues guitarists who are good but not amazing but then people go insane about them. Rant of the hour is complete.

Congrats on the stars. |

I completely agree with what your saying, I even feel that way about Jimmy Page, I dunno, maybe I haven't heard enough Zeppelin, but he just seems so overrated. |

A lot of people feel that way about Page. I personally like him, wouldn't call him the best quitarist ever or anything, but I think he's very good. |
Zeppelin is, in my opinion, overrated and overplayed. Surely their classification as the first heavy metal band is stupid genre-tossing gone awry. I could never get into them at all.
Page was also easily the least talented of the Yardbird Three of Clapton, Beck and Page. Too bad he's sitting on mountains of cash while Beck still struggles just to get a new hotrod to play with. |
Beck is infinitely cooler than Page though, money or not. He's got the whole lone wolf thing going.
|
That's what I'm talking about! Beck is actually the reason I started playing guitar. I heard one of his songs off the album "Flash"...an inferior album by his usual standard, but still that song "Gets Us All In The End" has got some unbelievable wailing on it. I was like "Holy ****, I've got to learn how to do that!" His recent excursions into techno have been very very interesting as well. His command over the Strat and the whammy bar is out of this world. It's cool that you like him, Bartender: I hear he's not that well-known even in England.
|
I would say that Jeff is farily well known.
|
I've no idea how well known he is over here. I assumed reasonably so, since he's English, but I never really thought about it.
I started listening to him a while ago, after downloading one of his techno-influenced instrumentals (So What) on a whim. |

Among us and middle-aged folks, yes. Sadly, your average rock fan has heard of Clapton and Page, not Beck, I should think. |

The first song, "What Mama Said," has the most badass two-handed riff on the face of the planet, played by Jennifer Batten. It's actually one of the coolest riffs I've ever heard, and I wish they played that stuff at all those crappy high school dances instead of hip-hop junk. |

I'm 17. |

I only actually own two of his albums, one from a long time ago (Beck-Ola) and one of his more recent (techno-ish) ones (You Had It Coming). I need to get more, though. |
I'm 17.
Haha, yeah, I meant "us" as in people who are musicians or avid listeners of all sorts of good music. We would have heard of him I think, but the average listener hasn't. I usually get blank stares when I ask friends if they've heard him. |

Oh ok. |
Beck is truly a master songwriter, in all seriousness, I think he is the most talented musician of all time.

I smell a poser. |
Poser, I've been listening to Beck since the second grade thank you very much.
|
Heheh, this is where it gets good.

and his 164 iq. |
Hey, I listened to Tom Petty and loved the crap out of the Eagles when I was in first grade, but in ninth grade, what was it? Limp Bizkit. We just grow out of our trends and rediscover what was always good. It is possible to stray away to some trendy stuff from truly good stuff for a while.
