Hey guys! So a couple of friends and I are planning to cover a Classic Rock song at a school event. Which of these do you guys think will really play on our older teachers' bias(they're the judges): "One of These Nights" The Eagles, "Hotel California" The Eagles, "Behind Blue Eyes" The Who, "Rock n' Roll" Led Zeppelin, or "Layla" (original) Cream?

Broken Arrow 09-18-2004 07:17 PM

Layla was done by Derek and the Dominoes anyways.......Do Hotel California or Rock and Roll thats what mainstream teachers like.

Against Miik! 09-18-2004 07:18 PM

My favorite of those is Hotel California, but I don't know if you could pull that off well. I really don't know how good you are, but it's a tough song to do live, especially with the vocals. I'd say Layla or the Who would be the easiest to do based on diffculty of vocals, but if you could do one of the Eagles songs, that would be awesome.

Yeah what Miik said would be easier.

That is alot of albums

madridfan 09-18-2004 07:22 PM

"One of These Nights" is actually pretty easy, but you're right, the vocals...

MalcolmYoungRock 09-18-2004 07:25 PM
(edit: regarding Nick's drumming)

Because he doesn't hold a candle to them.

I love Pink Floyd, but I've never been particularly impressed with Nicks drumming. (I've seen pulse too).
oh but he does, for the music he's simply amazing. If he were in there playing his 32nd note polyrhythic fills at 140 bpm it would make the music reeally crappy.

Broken Arrow 09-18-2004 07:37 PM

hmmmm I vaguely understand^.........Meh.

Anyone have the Album Flashpoint?

MalcolmYoungRock 09-18-2004 07:41 PM

have you noticed that the members of led zeppelin always refer to each other in these silly nicknames, like bonzo, or jonesy, or pagey or....rob.

i thought it was kinda funny.

Against Miik! 09-18-2004 07:58 PM

That is the most amazing website I have ever seen. I don't even know where to start. Like, I am overwhelmed. Thank you for that.

They called Robert Percy because they were watching a show about plants called Percy Plant or something and they were like "wow who would want to watch plants grow?" and then page said "hey shut up we watch plant grow everyday" and the name just stuck i guess.
Not exactly, when you just start listening to classic rock you only know about those few popular, most known bands. After you listen to them for a while though you will start discovering new, equally good bands. You will want to hear more of this awesome genre. That's how everybody starts out. So basicaly just give these kids some time and before you know it they will be rocking out to ALL of the great bands for 60's' 70's, etc.... That's just my theory.............
yeah, maybe in a perfect world, this would happen to everybody... but there are hundreds of thousands of kids who'll go out and by an AC/DC shirt because it's "vintage" and "hip"...

AdžDÇ 09-18-2004 08:32 PM

at my school everyone likes ac/dc for there music not because there "vintage" or "hip"
