RCA 05-30-2005 10:36 PM

/me can do good Baloff vox :)

Freezing Moon 05-30-2005 10:42 PM
IIRC you can only play in one song/thread. I'm not 100% sure though.

I would love to play guitar, but my sound is shit, and I'm not the best guitarist around.
Ah, well if you can only play in one, I may have to go with the death heads one. If that thread does one though, I'm not sure.

My guitar sound isn't that bad, if I work on it a while I could probably get it pretty good.

Also, somebody needs to mix it, and put it all together.

RCA 05-30-2005 10:46 PM

Damn, I could do the mixing too! (I won't guarantee top quality though...)

Freezing Moon 05-30-2005 11:19 PM
Damn, I could do the mixing too! (I won't guarantee top quality though...)
Somebody who is either extremely good at mixing or wants to do something, but doesn't have anything else to do should probably do the mixing.

Along with whatever else you want you should definitly do vocals if you can do them well.

RCA 05-30-2005 11:22 PM

Yeah, I guess I'll do the vocals.

/me gets to be Paul Baloff for a day *teehee*

SLATANIC-666 05-31-2005 01:01 AM

lol I think it's a great idea. Bonded by Blood is an excellent choice for a cover. I'd love to help out but I play guitar and I'm not great at it :upset:

same here. :)

Good luck guys, looking forward to hearing it.

FatalEnergy 05-31-2005 02:58 PM

woah, I haven't been around for a while

anyway, yeah, I could play the bass track for Bonded, but I have no way of recording it, unless anyone has an ideas

Freezing Moon 05-31-2005 04:43 PM

So what's the band?

I can help out either guitar or mixing. Do we have drummers in here or is it going to be drum machines?

Faceinthesky: Visit Ramsey's thread, there is a link to free recording software. You can use that, and it's actually a really good program if you have no other way of doing it. Just make sure you crank up your bass for recording. :p

ps. If anyone has a copy of "amplitube", and could zip it and send it to me, that would rule.

NP: Vio-lence - Twelve Gauge Justice

I think I may just be retarded but, I can't find the thread

Freezing Moon 05-31-2005 09:21 PM

Haha, the sticky at the top of the page. The Metal Comp. for this month.

To save time reading that long post of his, here's the link: http://audacity.sourceforge.net

NP: Nuclear Assault - Flight To Be Free

RCA 05-31-2005 09:34 PM

Yeah, Audacity is great for mixing and sound editing.

Freezing Moon 05-31-2005 09:37 PM

Probably my favorite part of it is the noise removal. It really helps since my amp models in garage band suck and produce lots of white noise.

In other news, I learned all of Bonded by Blood, except the second solo (which I have mostly memorized). I need to get the first one a little faster, but I have it memorized. :)

RCA 05-31-2005 09:43 PM

Sweet! I hope you can get it down before this contest ends.

Just let me know when the bass, guitars, and drums are mixed so I can do the vocals.

Freezing Moon 05-31-2005 09:52 PM

Alright, we need drums, correct?

When is the contest over? I'm sure I'll get it, I just started today, and I didnt' get to play all that much. Damn finals. As soon as school is out I can work all day on recording it and getting my tone right.

RCA 05-31-2005 09:55 PM

When is school out for you?

Actually, I can see how my voice shapes out tommorow morning; I'll do a rough run through the song.

*In Baloff voice* "Murder in the front...ROW!!!"

Apocalyptic Raids 05-31-2005 10:00 PM

So it will be programmed drums I assume?

Cool, now I just have to figure out how to use it. Do I need a microphone or something?

Freezing Moon 05-31-2005 10:18 PM

I get out this Friday.

I think we need to post a band in the thread, so we either need drums, or programming.

Me - Guitar
RCA - Vocals
FaceInTheSky - Bass
Drums - ?

edit: Man, I must have taken forever to post this.

FiTS: You can use your computer mic, just hit record, and you're ready. It's pretty simple to use, just mess around with it. If you can hook a mic up somehow, that works too.

NP: Possessed - The Exorcist

FatalEnergy 05-31-2005 10:22 PM

Nevermind...I got it :D

I have a way to actually hook my amp to it, so it's crystal clear sounding

Freezing Moon 05-31-2005 10:24 PM

Excellent. :)

Are there seriously no drummers in here? Or are they just not around?

RCA 05-31-2005 10:25 PM
Nevermind...I got it :D

Do that.

FatalEnergy 05-31-2005 11:04 PM

who is going to be mixing, so I can send them the file?

RCA 05-31-2005 11:07 PM
who is going to be mixing, so I can send them the file?
Don't know yet. If nobody will volunteer, I can mix everything after laying down the vocals.

Apocalyptic Raids 05-31-2005 11:53 PM

What is a good free drum program?

Griffin_Page 06-01-2005 12:19 AM

Awesome... too bad i can't get my band together to ****ing do it. Lazy bums (myself included).

Griffin_Page 06-01-2005 12:35 AM

Haha you might get a kick out of this... this is the sign that hangs in my garage for the band:

Thou shalt wear thy hair long and proud.
Thou shalt play thy guitar fast and accurately at all times.
Thou shalt mix other (good) styles into your solos and riffs.
Thou shalt not mix rap, pop, or glam into thy sound.
Thou shalt love the band and worship the music.
Thou shalt respect the elders of heavy metal (except Metallica, that is optional)
Thou shalt provide thy own gear.
Thou shalt not let the power of money cause compromise in thy music.
Thou shalt not let personal differences get in the way of thy music.
Thou shalt not indulge in the hard drugs of the world (speed, heroine, cocaine)
Thou shalt Rock!!

 Nice one

For this comp do you all just record your bits, upload them and put them together somehow?

sensitiveorgan00 06-01-2005 10:34 AM

What song are you guys covering? And do you expect a raw-quality recording?

RCA 06-01-2005 03:14 PM
What song are you guys covering? And do you expect a raw-quality recording?
We are doing a cover of the thrashtacular mindfuck poseurcide that is Bonded By Blood. :chug:

ForiegnPenguin 06-01-2005 04:25 PM

I drum, yet I am almost positive SO is far greater than me.

Suicide_Punishment 06-01-2005 05:57 PM

Im looking forward to hearing that actually

FatalEnergy 06-01-2005 06:31 PM

I'm actually kind of excited to do it (probably because I don't have much of a life). Anyway, when is the deadline for it to be submitted?

Apocalyptic Raids 06-03-2005 02:12 AM

I don't know what the deadline is. The guy who organised it didn't/hasn't set a date.

ArcLite 06-03-2005 02:23 AM

Who here likes Death Angel? They've kind of been my thrash band of the week and I'm liking 'em. I know their stuff was by no means inovative at the time, but it still seems like some solid music. I like The Ultra-Violence and their newest one, The Art of Dying. Wasn't a huge fan of Act III though.

Apocalyptic Raids 06-03-2005 02:29 AM

I've got The Ultra-Violence, but thats it. It's pretty damn good, especially Kill As One and Voracious Souls.

What are the other albums like?

ArcLite 06-03-2005 02:36 AM

The Art of Dying is great. One of my favorite driving albums. It's not quite as fast as The Ultra-Violence, but still solid with lots of catchy and well done tunes. Act III I didn't really like, couldn't tell you why exactly. Download the first track from The Art of Dying, Thrown to the Wolves. If you like that song you'll like the rest of the album. I would upload it for you but I'm on my work comp right now.

Apocalyptic Raids 06-03-2005 03:31 AM

I'e heard Thrown To The Wolves. Good song that.
