To risk being a cliche angsty teen, high school sucks.

BenJammin 11-06-2006 03:43 PM
So how is she affording it?

She better not be heading towards the Downtown East Side.
If you know anything about that area, it's not pretty :p
A combination of first-year scholarships and student loans.

Like East Hastings? Haha, yeah, she knows. We told her.

One Groovin Clown 11-06-2006 03:44 PM

On that topic, i have a research paper due in a week on that exact subject.

I've been to Vancouver once and we were moderately close to that area, and my aunt, who lives there, was all, like, "Let's not go that way."

What are you taking in university, anyway?

One Groovin Clown 11-06-2006 03:47 PM

Haha, yea a lot of people are really sketched out by that area. I've walked down it, it's not a pretty sight.

Nothing in particular. I have no plan. Take a bunch of 101 courses and go from there.

I hate decisions.

Where are you planning to go with your time at Uni?

BenJammin 11-06-2006 03:49 PM

Haha, yeah. I changed my mind 3 times last year.

I was gonna do political science, and then I was gonna do Spanish, and now I'm going to do English/Fine Arts. I think I'm gonna stick with this one.

One Groovin Clown 11-06-2006 03:52 PM

haha I hope i can avoid that by sampling a lot of areas then making my decision then.

BenJammin 11-06-2006 03:54 PM

I did sample lots of areas. :p I took just about everything that I could my first year. English, Spanish, political science, anthropology, psychology, philosophy, economics, etc. :p
To risk being a cliche angsty teen, high school sucks.
It really does.

University > high school.

QFT

I didn't mind high school that much.
Only thing i miss though is how close you were to your friends.
You'd hang out everyday.

Here, half the time I'm alone.
That sucks, but people are still pretty cool here.

Yeah. I was like that a lot first year, but I found that when second year rolled around, I suddenly knew all of these people. I've got a bunch of friends now, which is great.

One Groovin Clown 11-06-2006 04:01 PM

Do you live in res?

BenJammin 11-06-2006 04:04 PM

Nah. I only live about 10-15 minutes outside of the city, so I just drive to and from school. I kind of wish I lived in res, but there's no point, living so close. :p

One Groovin Clown 11-06-2006 04:06 PM

Yea, living in res would be alot more enjoyable.
But i live just a small skytrain ride away from my school. So i live at home.

BenJammin 11-06-2006 04:11 PM

Yeah. One of my friends lives in res, and I'm very jealous of the antics she gets up to. There's a huge sense of community.

One Groovin Clown 11-06-2006 04:13 PM

A bunch of my friends went to UBC, and they all live in res there.

I was talking to one of them, and the things that go on there.

He's been wasted for the past 2 weeks.
Nothing like an alcoholic engineer.

BenJammin 11-06-2006 04:16 PM

Engineers work hard and party doubly so.

Jimbobntnr 11-06-2006 04:18 PM

as of January 17th, I'll be starting a 20 hour semester. Stay in school.

One Groovin Clown 11-06-2006 04:19 PM

Totally, some of the courses he needs to take would be way over my head.

He's only taking 4 courses this semester. Next semester hes taking 6!
It's ridiculous.

I prefer my easy courses. I'm getting 97% in my Interactive arts class.

sixner 11-06-2006 04:21 PM

-sixner

Jimbobntnr 11-06-2006 04:22 PM

BenJammin 11-06-2006 04:23 PM
statistics, anthropology, american lit, physics, biology, and humanities.
Yum...

Or not.

Are you going for a degree, or is this just some program?

Jimbobntnr 11-06-2006 04:24 PM

I'm finishing my degree. 3 more classes in the summer and I'll have my Science associates

BenJammin 11-06-2006 04:25 PM
I'm finishing my degree. 3 more classes in the summer and I'll have my Science associates
Ahhh. Gotcha.

Jimbobntnr 11-06-2006 04:25 PM

I'll graduate with 96 credit hours. I changed my major so many times.

One Groovin Clown 11-06-2006 04:27 PM

Wow, that's excessive. We were just talking about academic goals. I'm just starting my University, so i'm still pretty unsure of where i want to go.

User Name 11-06-2006 04:27 PM

Another old friend contacted me to play rhythmn guitar in his band. An even older friend from the town I used to live in 7 years ago is the drummer.

BenJammin 11-06-2006 04:28 PM

@Jonly: Ha, yeah. I'm not sure yet if I'm gonna have to do a victory lap for my degree. I'm going into the English Honours program next year (I hope), and that'll require 54 credit hours in that alone.

Jimbobntnr 11-06-2006 04:31 PM

english honours? Is that still undergraduate?
I still don't know what my bachelors will be in. I'm ready for a career change, though.
