Uffe SWE 08-22-2004 02:37 PM

this is my first post on this forum actually myfirst music-furom post well might aswell get to the point : I´am working on some Metallica songs currently Fade to Black and I would like to know how the secon solo starting at 2:33 ending 2:50 and yes i have looked throught all tabs.
I´ve mastered the first and like this one too and there is no uber fast part I consider those inposible at this point.

Thanks in advance

PS. St:anger suck I mean no solos what were they thinking.
Kirk is my favorite member.

guitarfrog 08-22-2004 02:48 PM

go download the power tab program

cliffburtonrules 08-22-2004 03:37 PM

i think alot of people think lars sux cuz he has no technique at all....... however he is the best drummer iv'e heard in metal....... he might not have traditional technique but he's good in the "hit every drum u can and make it sound good" style

cliffburtonrules 08-22-2004 03:40 PM
That's because he can't hit the double bass fast. You've heard about how they double tracked Dyers Eve, right? Double bass is not about being cool, its about sonic potential. Metallica could use some double bass, it would probably make their recent music sound non-shytty.

Look I'm not trying to be a prick, but I call em as I see em. I don't see how people can rave about Lars when he does absolutely nothing special. The only reason he gets credit is because he is in Metallica. If he was in another band, nobody would give a rats arse about him.

Not to mention that god awful snare. *shudder*
whaqt do u mean he can't hit the double bass? have u heard One?!?!? and i admit that was a horrible snare choice but that was for only 1 album.

Doesnt change the fact that he couldnt do it properly for dyers eve.

NoLeafClover54 08-22-2004 04:18 PM

well i hopefully speak for everyone when i say i hope there next album will go back to the sound they had in the 80's

cliffburtonrules 08-22-2004 04:24 PM
Doesnt change the fact that he couldnt do it properly for dyers eve.
ya that's true but i'm just saying that cuz he didnt do it right on dyers eve doesnt mean he cant do it at all

bastardsloth 08-22-2004 04:39 PM

maybe Trujillo will give their new album a different sound. i doubt it will sound like the old stuff, but hopefully it will sound different than st. anger.

\m/Pete\m/ 08-22-2004 05:39 PM

have you heard some of his drums solos? not the one that is floating around kazaa but the live tracks you can download off of their site. pretty sweet

RiceMonster 08-22-2004 05:40 PM

Hope Fully, I think they should let him coe-write a few songs on the next album, he's an excellent bass player.

that wont happen, because Metallica dont give a **** who there bass player is. No matter if they had the best bassist ever, it would make no difference at all. Metallica was never about bass guitar playing. Not even during the Cliff days. Metallica is James and Lars, that's it. They call the shots. For example Hammett is a very good guitar player, now tell me, what kind of creative control did he have on St.Anger?, did anyone hear a solo? That's because James and Lars decided to go into a different deriction with the band on the album. Not only that, but if James and Lars told Hammett to write solos for the album, dont you think he would have done it?

I think i remember Kirk saying in an interview that he wrote some solos, but the "band" decided they wouldnt fit. Kirk is a tool.

\m/Pete\m/ 08-22-2004 07:27 PM

no he tried a few solos, but they didnt fit with the songs...thats what i read

jpj 08-22-2004 07:38 PM

in the video for one was the footage of the guy in the hospital bed taken from a movie or did they film just for that video

Five Magics 08-22-2004 07:42 PM

those songs on St.Anger are screaming for solos

NoLeafClover54 08-22-2004 07:47 PM

well from what ive read and heard there a little solo on The Unnamed Feeling

EternalPain 08-22-2004 09:28 PM

The One video was taken from an older movie called Johnny Got His Gun...I think it was like a um....1986 movie...around there

EternalPain 08-22-2004 09:29 PM

I wasnt here at the begging lol but well as you guys were talking about how the Black Album was so awesome and unexpected...well that is also when Bob Rock came into the picture so maybe hes the one that got them to that point for the Black Album?

Five Magics 08-22-2004 10:11 PM

bring back Fleming Rasmussen, **** Bob Crock

GorbAcheV 08-22-2004 10:37 PM

Yes Fleming should come back, unless he's dead. But regardless no more Bob Rock.
those songs on St.Anger are screaming for solos
i bet St Anger would be up to 50% better if the songs had solos

Paranoidd 08-22-2004 11:12 PM
ya that's true but i'm just saying that cuz he didnt do it right on dyers eve doesnt mean he cant do it at all
Fine then, he can do it, but at limited speed and syncopation. Happy now?

NoLeafClover54 08-22-2004 11:14 PM

^^^^ true

Paranoidd 08-22-2004 11:43 PM
The One video was taken from an older movie called Johnny Got His Gun...I think it was like a um....1986 movie...around there
Hmmmm I think it's a bit older then that. It's in black and white.

Unless its one of those modern movies that purposely does black and white.

\m/Pete\m/ 08-22-2004 11:51 PM

I forgot to mention this, but when i saw Metallica Kirk did a lil solo when they played frantic...it was pretty sweet

AMAC 08-23-2004 12:03 AM

I'm seeing Metallica on October 24th

DisposableHeroes 08-23-2004 01:36 AM
