I enjoy 50 cent songs a little when I hear them, specifically Candy Shop and Hate it or Love it (The Game feat 50)

ATM 05-10-2005 12:13 AM
I do actually like two songs in particular...Nappy Roots - Aww Naw, and Nelly - Ride With Me. Not necessarily for the music that much, but they have a reminisant feel for me.
Did you download any of the songs I posted?

Permanent Solution 05-10-2005 12:18 AM

Blahhhh...I just got bitched at by the neighbors for playing guitar too loudly. The way he asked was so cuntish too "Hey man, I don't know if you're aware that it's finals week but..." It only really bothers me because he's been blasting his music louder than mine and right no is no exception, now that I'm not guitaring I can hear his music quite clearly over mine...blah...lame.

Cool. You just might find something you like.

All that uploading took so long.

I would...but I'm on campus next year too so I could get in the sort of trouble that would make it very hard to find a place to live next semester this late in the year :-/

Well, for one, Nas and Biggie and Wu-Tang Clan are not East Coast rap. They are Gangsta Rap or East Coast Gangsta Rap.

Pioneers like Eric B. and Rakim amd Big Daddy Kane were completely forgotten. The most iconic and widely known rapper of all time (2Pac) was trivialized to one upload. The G-Funk movement, which ruled the first half of the 90's, went completely unnoticed.

I know it wasn't 100 percent perfect, but give me a break. I couldn't cover every single artist that I wanted too.

hitchiker's was very disapointing- it was alright and funny in parts but it could have been so much better

mos def was rubbish as ford and the guy who was Zaphod played him too stupid

the stupid hollywood romance thing with arthur and trillian ruined it really...
four words for hollywood... NOT IN THE BOOK!

Correct for not needed, but it was probably wrote into the script by Adams, to satisfy the american markets.

I only realised the other day that the script has been around for a long time, and has barely been changed by the time the movie was shot.

Yep. It would have been a good movie, if it wasn't under the name of the guide. The fact that they missed out most of the humerous bits from the book really pissed me off.
mos def was rubbish as ford and the guy who was Zaphod played him too stupid
Yep. I now despise Mos Def. I thought the guy doing Zaphod kind of had the role down, but over did it at times. I also disliked the whole arrangment they gave him for the two heads :-/ I thought that pretty much all of the casting was off, except for Zooey Deschanel as Trillian.

Yep. They made far too big a deal out of it, especially since it was barely mentioned in the books.

I'm still at a loss as to where they're going to take it next, and as to what major plot surgery they will perform.

Lord Abortion 05-10-2005 06:20 AM

yeah... been in "development hell" for around 20 years, but I was just so disapointed, It could have been classic, but Zaphod was played all wrong (hint- zaphod in the book and radio seems to be a little like keith richards), he is totally different from the book
the whole thing with ford trying to shake hands with a car was stupid, too- still going to see it again with other parent... it may be better the second time

munky_magik 05-10-2005 06:32 AM

I think the whole thing was kind of Americanised to appeal more to a larger audience. As the books stand, they have a very kind of...British humor.
If they kept it 100% faithful to the book then it wouldn't make so much money.

Lord Abortion 05-10-2005 06:48 AM

heh... new user title to show my disgust

EDIT: or was... going to be "Mos Def ruined Hitchiker's"

why is this asteix'ed?

munky_magik 05-10-2005 07:23 AM

The "tc" combination is censored because of the spam wars with Tab Crawler, but that's ancient history.

I wonder what they were thinking when they cast Mos Def as Ford.

Lord Abortion 05-10-2005 07:27 AM

ah... makes sense now (well...)

this one is better- wanky casting bastard wank cunt bollocks!

/I feel better now

Bartender 05-10-2005 08:32 AM

I was getting ready to rail once more against what they did to my beloved Guide, but then, fortunately, I realised I was in love the world and everything in it. So I didn't.

Wow, I guess that movie sucked, huh?

munky_magik 05-10-2005 09:16 AM

It wasn't a bad movie as such. It should just never have been under the name of The Guide.

Shred Danson 05-10-2005 09:19 AM

When I saw the preview for it, at first I thought it was going to be another Men In Black movie. But I'm not too interested in it anyway.

Arucard 05-10-2005 10:00 AM

I havent been posting in R+M much, sorry about that, but i dont see much need to now that its getting alot better, and we cant spam up the com thread anympore.

Thanks for the JPOP Munky, i found some more for myself, i the uber corny type. Alot of the stuff i like is Anime sountrack JPOP, especially for the Blue Gender and Gundam serieses.

ATM 05-10-2005 10:24 AM

Re: Hitchikers Guide

I liked the movie, and I know it isn't exactly like the book, but why get all stressed out because it isn't? I feel that a movie can still be entertaining even if it doesn't match up to the book completely.

Permanent Solution 05-10-2005 10:56 AM

I saw a preview the other day for a Jumanji ripoff, except it's set in space, it was hella lame haha. (just reminded because we're talking about space) Anyways, it's my last day, I'm so happy/sad :-\

Maybe you didn't have to cover EVERY artist, but someone who is widely considered the greatest rapper ever should get a little more than one upload crammed near the end. That's like writing a brief history of boxing and only giving Muhammad Ali a brief sentence or two.

ATM 05-10-2005 01:49 PM

I'm not disagreeing with you, it's just that uploading all of those files was taking ages, and I mainly just wanted to give people a starting point.
