I can see calling them monotonous, their music is real generic, but nothing horrible. Their vocals are still insane though.

yeah no problem. you've mentioned bands before with vocals that seem to defy rythym and you yourself are a vocalist (as am i). I've heard the Chelsea Grin album and there is nothing in the vocals (not even considering the music) that i would consider insane or in any way out of the norm of what any other band has already done.
He's got some pretty shrill high's but that alone does not make up for the otherwise completely lackluster performance.
There's just no substance to their music whatsoever
It all just sounds like an empty shell of whatever they were trying to sound like.

And the new Within The Ruins isn't the most original, but it's really tight and well done, plus the vocals rule, regardless of the awful lyrics.

WTR are fcking great, really like the new album. same with ID, nice to see them leave Meshuggah territory and move more towards "breathing is irrelevant". but the lyrics on the new album are pretty awkward. i heard from mappy that is tru for the new WTR also.
