Lord Tim owns for sure

Poet 01-21-2009 08:45 PM

So Daniel Heiman's band Lavett added two more songs on their myspace.

http://www.myspace.com/lavettband

:( :( it's so terrible. We don't get to see the soaring vocals.

Shattered_Future 01-22-2009 12:12 AM

Wow. I just realized I haven't listened to power metal in such a long time...

Not only that, I haven't found a good power metal band to listen to in over a year.

Recommend me power metal gice. I have all the big names and a lot of the little ones. Use your better judgement. :D

pate 01-22-2009 08:29 AM

Pharaoh
Crimson Glory
Tad Morose
Pyramaze
Machine Men
Bloodbound
Nocturnal Rites
Dungeon
Lord

You better have all these already, I'm just making sure you do.

Stormrider 01-22-2009 02:38 PM

I've listened to like two of those bands haha

pate 01-22-2009 03:28 PM

noob

Nostalgia 01-22-2009 04:18 PM

Anyone like Twisted Tower Dire?

pate 01-22-2009 04:29 PM

They're alright. But now I'll be sick of them because of your fanboyness.

Thanks for that list, Lee. I've been looking for some good, melodic, and "old school" sounding power metal and found it in Tad Morose's Modus Vivendi. Also enjoying Machine Men's Circus of Fools.

pate 01-25-2009 05:11 PM

Circus of Fools is quality, but Modus is killer.

ArcLite 01-25-2009 05:14 PM

I like the Machine Men singer. Sounds like a metal version of Geddy Lee.

pate 01-25-2009 05:31 PM

I get more of a Dickinson vibe.

Grumma 01-30-2009 07:17 PM

Awsome, turns out one of my friends is friends with Andrew Dowling (LORD guitarist)!

pate 01-30-2009 07:41 PM

Andy's the ****.

Grumma 01-30-2009 07:43 PM

I should try and score some free ****

Grumma 01-30-2009 07:45 PM

nice one Large Bundle Of Sticks

Shadows Within 01-30-2009 08:20 PM

I've only listened to Dungeon on that list...im checking out Tad Morose right now.

really good so far.

pate 01-30-2009 08:22 PM

Which album?

I haven't really liked any TM other than Modus.

Shadows Within 01-30-2009 09:09 PM
Which album?

it was a song of Modus, cyberdome i think.

pate 01-30-2009 10:28 PM

Great great great great great song. My favorite on the album.

If you like the singer, he's the new Pyramaze singer, and used to be in a band called Bloodbound. They were Iron Maiden with black metallish lyrics.

Steerpike 04-24-2009 09:46 PM

Power metal has managed to inspire me. My friend Greg and I have decided to begin work on a new photo comic titled The League of True Metal Warriors.

This is the point where I confess to being an irredeemable nerd.

Deth 04-24-2009 11:28 PM

Thought you sailed on that boat years ago.

How's the magic going btw?

666DiMe666 04-25-2009 06:43 AM

So I've been digging Tad Morose lately. Awesome stuff.

Steerpike 04-25-2009 07:31 AM
Thought you sailed on that boat years ago.

I just found myself visiting here less and less often. I couldn't relate to the direction the place was taking where every thread seemed to be a postcount +1 whorehouse.

The magic's picking up. With the winter season and the recession, people got a little spooked and the industry experienced a lean year. I'm actually getting content on my website as well.

Grond 04-26-2009 07:08 PM

Which Dungeon cd would you guys recommend for a first

pate 04-26-2009 07:17 PM

My personal favorite is One Step Beyond.

A lot of people like A Rise To Power.

Resurrection and The Final Chapter are also good.

But I would recommend OSB to start with.

Deth 04-26-2009 07:25 PM

All Dungeon is good Dungeon

Steerpike 04-27-2009 09:11 PM

I'm gonna go with Pate's answer. Terrano del Mar and Against the Wind will rock your face into another timezone.

Danger Zone 04-27-2009 09:18 PM

So I just realized there is two new (sort of) Iced Earth albums I don't have. I feel ashamed. Jon Schaffer just absolutely rocks my world.

Shattered_Future 04-27-2009 10:55 PM

I realized I haven't listened to power metal since I saw Sonata Arctica for free in September. And I'm going to see Nightwish on Saturday.

I don't even want to go anymore.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH ME!?!?!

Tyler 04-27-2009 10:57 PM

You're finally realizing that Nightwish sucks?

Shattered_Future 04-27-2009 10:59 PM

Maybe, although the orchestra **** is still pretty sweet.

Steerpike 04-27-2009 11:18 PM

Burned out on the drama perhaps? I listened to Dark Passion Play for a while then had to step away because it was impossible to talk about Nightwish without the fucking drama.

I find myself recently coming back to some of my early power metal loves. Blind Guardian, Nightwish, Rhapsody of Fire...

Danger Zone 04-28-2009 04:54 AM
Rhapsody of Fire...
Don't call them that... And yes the oldies are still the goodies. I can put on Edguy, Blind Guardian, or HammerFall on anytime and still enjoy it.

pate 04-28-2009 06:14 AM

LOL @ Edguy and HammerFall being power metal 'oldies'

Grumma 04-28-2009 06:20 AM

LORD in a fortnight!

I'd get Final Chapter for a Dungeon cd, but as Deth said they're all good.

Danger Zone 04-28-2009 06:39 AM
LOL @ Edguy and HammerFall being power metal 'oldies'
Yeah, yeah... They play the old style even though their best releases were in the late 90's

Grond 04-28-2009 07:18 AM

Got Rise to Power, and it rules. Thanks

Danger Zone 04-28-2009 07:39 AM

It's really ironic reading the first couple pages of this thread from five years ago and seeing how much everyone loves Children of Bodom and Dragonforce. I'd like to see someone try to do that now.

Steerpike 04-28-2009 08:26 AM
Don't call them that...
It has the word fire in it, so it is more epic.
