Paramore are my guilty little secret band that sometimes I know I should hate, but can't help liking..

I think it's mainly due to Hayley's ginger hair do. I wonder if the carpet matches the drapes..

Our vocalist can pull off a MEAN Paramore. She has dyed red hair like Haley as well.

And she can scream kind of like the girl from Flyleaf.

I don't really care for either band though. I was disappointed with Paramore's [i]Riot[/i], so I haven't checked out any of their other stuff.

Shakira is amazing. She's got incredible vocal control (especially while moving), a great bod, and her lyrics aren't half bad....unless you don't speak spanish.

Well it's not really that overproduced. There aren't a lot of changes to the mix, nor is are their studio versions of songs that different to live version, if anything they add things to live performances (see the coda to Let the Flames Begin). And besides, they're better songwriters than most of the poopty bands on the TV atm. You've just got a case of "I'm gonna hate X band because the Y amounts of popular. Besides, despite all the lovage for the sexiness of Hayley, she's simply one of the best modern rock singers our generation has (males included).

And their style of music calls for the big drum sound, flawless vocals(not that they use Auto-tune as far as I can tell) and huge guitars. There's a difference between overproduced (read: modern hip/hop r&b) and a good recording.

To FMB: Riot is their worst album IMO. It's not that bad, but the song writing is no where near as good as All We Know Is Falling.

As for the new album...my god. It's sex on a stick. Just listened to it last night, and I probably could only say it had one track I wasn't thrilled about. Thanks Pluperfect Arson for getting me in the mood to listen to it.:smoke:

It's all streaming on Myspace, but it annoyingly puts little gaps between the tracks and mildly disrupts the flow.

I agree with [I]Riot![/I] being their worst. I do not think it is horrible, but, when I listen to it, I am usually bored by the end of it. [I]brand new eyes[/I] is definitely a good album, though. I have listened through it far too many times, and I have yet to feel bored. They have more slow songs compared to their previous albums, but I think they are good, doing something new. Also, on [I]brand new eyes[/I], I have not really found a song I straight up disliked.

Yeah pretty much the same here. Although I despise Misery Business and CrushCrushCrush, but they were the singles, and I'm not totally sold on Ignorance yet.

Speaking of slow songs, my fave on BNE is probably Misguided Ghosts. Hayley's vocal delivery is completely different to anything else she's done before. And the guitar work is pretty swish too.

I listened twice last night and every track it just got better and better.

What I love about this album is the fact that Riot! to me was a bit of a sell out. But with this album they've written some pretty 'heavy' stuff, in the vein of AWKIF, but with better song writing, and have taken avenues that I didn't see coming. Misguided Ghosts is almost a folk song for god's sake.

Okay I'll let it be...just go listen to Brand New Eyes. You probably won't be disappointed.

Are you kidding me? There's way better songwriters than them out there right now. If people didn't find their singer so cute, they wouldn't be nearly as famous. Fact.

I am NOT saying she's a bad singer. She's a good singer, but fact of the matter is, if you want to be a famous band, you need 1) a sound and 2) an image; unfortunately, there's too much emphasis on the latter than the former, and Paramore has that "we appeal to pre-teen scene girls AND guys of all ages because this female singer is attractive and talented." For record labels, that means $$$, so for Paramore, that means record labels that want to plaster their pictures everywhere and get their songs on every radio station.

It's the same reason The Beatles got so famous. Sure, they were incredible songwriters, but their image was what really propelled them to stardom. Without the image Brian Epstein conjured up for them of the clean cut, lovable Fab Four, they probably would've been stuck in Liverpool their whole careers.

TV and the radio sucks, so comparing any band that has an iota of talent to the general spread of music found on TV/radio just doesn't need to be said. I know Paramore is more talented than Debbie Gibson. Thanks.

I don't feel obligated to defend my band when I know we've done something poorly, but I do disagree with that statement.

I just don't like anything I've heard them do, regardless of their ATDI cover. Maybe they have good songs that I haven't heard, and if that's the case, I haven't heard them...

It's also hard to cover ATDI well. They're one of those bands with a sound that's difficult to emulate. I have some trouble playing the guitar parts to those songs with the same feel as Omar.
