idk i drink with the kid a lot, he went to salisbury

Silenius 01-28-2008 02:10 AM

This isn't the community thread guys... :(

1338 h4x0r 01-28-2008 02:12 AM

Sorry; you're right.

Daedeloth (Fra) reeks of Burzum worship. Yea or nay?

Angmar 01-28-2008 02:23 AM

I haven't heard Daedeloth, are they good nonetheless?

Silenius 01-28-2008 02:26 AM

Never heard, I'll check it out, if it's even half as good as burzum then it trumps most burzum clones.
I haven't heard Daedeloth, are they good nonetheless?
This crappy box has no sound and my mp3 player is only 1G, so I nuked them from memory before reviewing them extensively. I probably foredoomed them; idk, they sounded a little too much like Burzum worship at the beginning. On the other hand, they might be a "rewards repeated listens" affair like some other bands I have come to know and love.

Remember, Daedeloth from France.

Silenius 01-28-2008 02:30 AM

can you e-mail it to me please?

Thanks. :)
I ordered Pure Holocaust last week but it still hasn't come in -_____-
Waiting for things to arrive sucks, I recently had to wait around a month for some Mayhem LP's to get to me :-\

LifeInABox 01-28-2008 08:19 AM

They have PH in a record store near me for like $13.99.

south_of_heaven 11 01-28-2008 11:34 AM

So uh I'd like to get into black metal more. I've never really been a big fan of 10-minute long black metal tracks. I guess what I'm asking for is maybe something like Bathory's "Blood Fire Death" or maybe something like Destroyer 666 with more black metal than thrash...

Any rec's?

Angmar 01-28-2008 11:37 AM

Give Inquisition a try, they have kind of a thrashy/doomy feel to them and are really good, but the vocals are strange, I reviewed one of their albums though, read it and see if you'd enjoy it.

You also might like the band I, it's a project with Abbath from Immortal and some other Norwegian BMers, and it's heavy metal with blackish elements, mostly in the vocals.

AA-12 01-28-2008 11:39 AM

new Darkthrone maybe.

I'm listening to Inquistion right now...the music is seriously killer but the vocals are really, really ****ing weird

Tyler 01-28-2008 11:44 AM

I doubt he'd like "I" or the new Darkthrone to be honest.

You've heard Absu, right Grant? Blackened thrash that's right up your alley.

south_of_heaven 11 01-28-2008 11:46 AM

Yeah, Absu's "Tara" is a nasty album.

I'm listening to "I" right now on their myspace...I actually kinda like it. I'll have to get used to the vocals though. Pretty interesting style they've got...

I'd also like something similar to Megiddo, if you know of any

Angmar 01-28-2008 11:47 AM

Yeah the vocals take getting used to but you learn to like them/look past them.
I doubt he'd like "I" or the new Darkthrone to be honest.
Why not? I is just heavy metal with blackish vocals.

EDIT: ahh nvm he already looked

Tyler 01-28-2008 11:48 AM

I just figured the vocals would kill it for him.

Grant, you heard early Root? Hell Symphonies is a great album. Vocals are relatively straightforward too.

south_of_heaven 11 01-28-2008 11:52 AM

I looked up Root on their myspace and am listening to "Leviathan". It's sweet. I need to get that album (Hell Symphony). Thanks man :thumb:

Angmar 01-28-2008 11:54 AM

I still don't have any Root. :( I need to change that.

Nostalgia 01-28-2008 11:55 AM

Thesyre.

I recommend Nattefrost, which is punk-tinged, and, if you don't mind the strange combination of nihilistic / racist / borderline NS content (which really makes no sense at all), Ad Hominem. The lyrics are pretty fvkking stupid compared to my usual fare but those two bands play insanely energetic music that sends you clear into the berserkergang. Melechesh, if you don't mind the Middle Eastern scale; I'm pretty open to that kind of thing since I used to listen to world music regularly.

Oh, and how could I forget? EINHERJER. The gang chorus in Ingen Grid makes me jizz.

rattlehead42147 01-28-2008 12:23 PM

Einherjer are pretty meh imo, my friend lent me Norwegian Native Art and I didn't really like it.

@South/Grant
Hell Symphony is awesome, it didn't click with me the first time I heard it (maybe because of Big Boss' vocals, i dunno) but I owe Tyler for that recommendation.

Consider Blót; it's more mature. Everything on that album is epic, I kid you not.

rattlehead42147 01-28-2008 12:41 PM

I might, but then again I've never been attracted to the epic side of metal. The iTunes sample of Ingen Grid doesn't include the chorus you were talking about. :(

blogsearch is your friend. And by 'epic', I merely meant 'awesome'.
