Important Pink Floyd news:
The Live 8 DVD will be released on November 8. Pink Floyd is one of the few bands who's entire set will be shown on the DVD. They're also showing footage of the Floyd rehearsing. Waters said the Live 8 performance was better than good, and it went very peacefully, without fighting. He also said they aren't planning on a reunion tour, but would be willing to do more reunion shows if for a good cause (political cause or charity). He also said this would give them an oppurtunity to play DSOTM in it's entirety live again. Fingers crossed :thumb: This was all on my local classic rock station, so it should all be pretty reliable. |
gosh reunion rumors are giving me a half boner.
One quick question, I was reading up on the Featured Bassist on Roger Waters and saw that the "Tick Tock" in time is him playing bass and has some help with some studio magic from Allen Parsons. It also says that no one knows how they did this so i was wondering if anyone in here knew? |

Yeah, I don't think that was bass playing. But, I could be wrong.

The sound you're refering to is Waters pushing his strings into the pickups.

Really? That's pretty cool. |

Pink Floyd have some of the most talented musicians. Dark Side Of The Moon is an amazing album and it pushes the boundaries of creative music and rock and roll..... Pink Floyd deserve alot of credit for what they've done :thumb:

That could be. Also in addition to the artists you guys mentioned earlier, I think the Stones are playing there too. I love learning about the studio tricks and techniques they used on DSOTM (and all the Floyd albums for that matter). I'm going to go watch the making of DVD again now. |

Hey, who can tell me what the whisper in Great Gig in the Sky says? The one that has something to do with dying.
|
"And I am not frightened of dying, any time will do, I
don't mind. Why should I be frightened of dying? There's no reason for it, you've gotta go sometime." "If you can hear this whispering you are dying." "I never said I was frightened of dying." There ya go. |

Dave gilmour complains american don't give enough money away, its really unlikely he'd do a monney raising show for the hurricane. |
Neil is canadian and Paul McCartney's an idiot
oops did i say that outloud
Did I ever say their nationalities? No.
It also says that no one knows how they did this so i was wondering if anyone in here knew?
Just liked to point that out.
/stuff about DSOTM played in entirety
I'm going to be gone this weekend and if they happen to do that, I'll kill someone.
NO! It doesn't say that.
Listen to it the loudest you can on headphones. She does say that. I've said that before on here and everyone was bitching at me telling me I'm wrong. It's there. |

"I never said I was frightened of dieing." The vocal samples were responses to questions on cards, one of which was "Why are you frightened of dieing?" Seriously, the reason everyone was bitching is because you're wrong. |

:) I do
You could make it sound like either. Its like the stairways backwards trick, you hear what you expect to hear. |

I read a Pink Floyd biography, and they talked about the cue cards from DSOTM. And, she does say "I never said I was afraid of dying."
A reunion show might be cool, but honestly, it's not a big deal to me. I wouldn't get to see them, I'd just be frustrated that I couldn't. So, whether they do it or not, not a big deal to me. I already have enough live footage of them. If they did a tour though... now that's a whole different story. Edit: Oh wait, they might play DSOTM? Nevermind, they need to do a show, even if it's only a single show. |

Its like the stairways backwards trick, you hear what you expect to hear.
Yeah, I just listened to it real loud, it does sound more like "I never said I was frightened of dying." Weird, when I'd listened to it in the past, it sounded more like "If you can hear...etc.". My mistake. |
"I never said I was frightened of dieing."

Seriously, the reason everyone was bitching is because you're wrong.
Listen folks, I'm 100% positive that she says both during the song, one at the begining, and once when the music goes softer. The thing about only hearing what you wan to hear, because before I had ever heard of her saying that, I heard something and turned it up. It definitely sounded liek she was saying "If you can hear this whisper, you're dying." If she did say the othe rthing, she said it with ery strange stress on the syllables, like " I never SAID I was AFRAID, of dying" or something. I guess you could make yourself here one or the other, but whatever. By the way, a little bit after Eclipse 'ends", what does that guy say, I caught something about "no doubt" and "the moon"... but that's not the weirdest part... I haven't heard this mentioned on here at all, but if you let the song play aaaaaalll the way to the end, I swaer, just before the track ends, there's a very little jingle or something, when I first heard it it sounded like the Looney Tunes sound or something... in fact, it sounded a lot like the channel on WYWH before the guitar starts... I'm gonna check it out again... |
