That sounded pretty awesome. I could barely hear the vocals sometimes when I really could tell he was doing an amazing job, but I'm sure it was due to the face you only had one microphone. I must say, the drums were the best part ;)

I always thought Ken's band was called StageFright or something, due to their website, but then he said he recorded that stuff with Crutch. I figured it must have been a new band he was working with. Anyway, I think it was me who missed something.

I was all excited about getting some audio from ken, then seeing everyone saying how good what they heard was, i searched for a link. I assumed it was edited out, but now im even more confused.

This thread moves a lot faster nowadays, I actually find it hard to keep up now, and therefore post less. Perhaps that's what he was thinking, or else he may want to re-record it, as the kick drum couldn't be heard.

It has taken off recently I agree. Which is ironic as its the slowest period for Tool updates.

If he took it down due to bad quality, that's understandable. Still, I wanted to hear it :(

It was a progression from Stinkfist to Aenema to 46&2, which lasted about 3 minutes. It was recorded using a microphone in the center of a room, which didn't make for the best of quality, although it was still good to hear.

I removed the link because I wasnt very happy with the recording quality. The music is dead on, the recording is horrible. Im moving all of my mics and stuff to my home studio to work on the drum tracks for the MX cover band. Crutch will be meeting again this week and well record the stuff with actual mics and mix it down with effects.

Stagefright is my cover band, we play everything from Santana to Tool to BB King, NickleBack, 3 Door Down, The Eagles, to Garth Brooks and Mo-town R&B. I love playing with these guys as they are phenominal musicians and expose me to alot of different varietys of music.

Crutch was born out of my musical evolution. I came to a point in my life where I had so much music that I have been working on and ideas and thoughts that I need to get out. This is the first time in my career that I felt like I have a valid point to create this and decided to go for it. I auditioned a ton of people and found the best of the best. We are really spread out because of this, one of the guys travels 2 hours one way for practice. Were all in this for the same reason, the music. Were not doing this for the money at all. Crutch is a refreshing band for me, I can take my aggressions or put my emotions into my playing and the guys are so in tune with each other than they can pick up on whatever I am doing and put thier own influence on it. I do the same for them.
Crutch had ALOT of tragedy happen when we first came together, which is how we derived at the name. We formed up, solidified the line up, and began to kinda feel each other out, spend time together, jam, and discuss the writing process. We built the studio together and began to come together as friends and became parts of each others families. Soon after this happened my lead singers brother, 22 years old, was killed in a car wreck. Crutch was put on hold and everyone came together in support for Seth. We were with him pretty much day and night as he went through the mess. He used us as his crutch to get through it.

About 2 weeks after Seths brother was killed we were in the process of writing and actually putting our first song together. Seth was still a mess and we were all taking care of him when I get the most horrible phone call EVER. Maynard, my guitar player, called to tell me that his dad had just shot himself in the head and was being transported to a hospital close to my house. Again, we all pulled together for him, Seth included, and supported him in any way we could. 3 long grueling days later Maynards father died. In the weeks that followed Maynard fell back on us to try to make sense of the situation. We spent countless hours conversing and debating all of the happenings. Once again, this un-named project, became a crutch for another member. He threw himself into the music and expressed his feelings.

The time came for a name and it was a pretty easy decision, Crutch. We feel that everyone at some time in thier life needs a crutch and the music we are writing will hopefully provoke thought or fill a hole that someone needs.

Just thought I would give ya some back ground on it, sorry to ramble on!

Sorry about all the tragedy. I heard the link before you took it off, and you guys sound excellent, even with the poor recording quality.

Thanks man, I appreciatte it. I really think this band has the potential to go somewhere. I think we are writing about topics that intrest alot of people. Our biggest problem, believe it or not, is were all too heavily influenced by Tool. EVERYTHING we create sounds like Tool. Were bringing in some other musicians to jam with us that have other influences so we can get away from this.

Yeah, I can see how that could be a problem. I hope when I start organizing a band I can get some people with broad musical influences. My biggest influences on guitar are Tool (obviously), Smashing Pumpkins, and Led Zeppelin, so I hope I can get some people with some other musical influences as to not sound too much like any of those bands.

I remember that was one of the first problems I had (and still have) when writing music, I couldnt avoid turning it into a Tool sounding song.

Thats a pretty deep story behind your band. Usually the best music possible comes from pain and setback, which is something no one should have to rely on.

And I understnad if you didnt want a poor quality recording up. I can be Patient for a better one, so no rush.
