Wow, Det, that review fecking pwns, I don't see why you hate small venues for those reasons though, watching the crew do the sound check isn't a big deal at all, but the guitars being too quiet was, that happened at the Stirling when I went to see 3 Inches of Blood... Jamie Hoopers mic was so quiet for the first song that you could only hear Cam's vocals, but other than stuff like that, small venues own, they're cheaper, the atmosphere is more personal, and if you go outside after the show, you have a really good chance of meeting some band members.
I've been emailing Jamie quite alot recently...
Deliverance really is a work of art. I don't get why people don't like it, its better then some of their other stuff, easily.
I absolutely love it, you know that though, I haven't met one person that doesn't like it. I think there was one poster once a while back that didn't like the album. I don't know, It's a badass album.

Darkness 10-25-2005 05:10 PM

Most people just seem to think its underpar, or that Ghost Reveries blows it away... I disagree with this. :p

Shadows 10-25-2005 05:11 PM

I have mixed feelings on it.

Kaiwaz 10-25-2005 05:17 PM

Because of Opeth's growth in style, and range, their fans vary along with their tastes on which albums they prefer. It's all good, I love you all. :D

Toaster 10-25-2005 05:19 PM

Deliverance is in my top three, partly due to the vocals. People say they're badly produced- I say they're cooler.

Whoever said they're poorly produced lacks severe musical talent.

Darkness 10-25-2005 05:29 PM

I agree, nothing beats the gut renching screams he does at near the end of Wreath. Then has the clean vocals doing kinda back up vocals... thats just awesome. :D

RouteOne 10-25-2005 05:29 PM

Opeth is probably the worst band ever.

IMO A tie between that and The Leper Affinity for the best song they've ever written.

Seriously, ShadowsFallen what program do you use for drumming? Would Beatcraft (the free one) work if I put it to a WAV file?

EDIT: I meant for the thrash contest thing.

Shadows 10-25-2005 05:33 PM

I use an actual drum machine. Any program should work, as long as you can export the drum track as a .wav file. You're using Audacity right?

I feel dirty for blasphemeing against Opeth.:upset:

I don't know what Audacity is, frankly. I'm using a digital 4-track, playing to a click track, then putting that on Sony Acid.. Then I'm using the Beatcraft (hopefully) to just follow that click track and put it all together somehow. :p I've never used a drum program to record before, needless to say.

If there's an easier way, don't be shy. :) Thanks.

Shadows 10-25-2005 05:39 PM

Well, I've never used a drum program on a computer, so I don't right off the top of my head. But if you have any specific questions, go ahead and ask, I'm I'll be able to help in some way. :)

I'll get back to you- I need to find out if I can merge the two files somehow..

Not necissary, since we have about 232 pages of that.

Shattered_Future 10-25-2005 06:33 PM

Lots of talk about Deliverance, but none about By The Pain I See In Others.

Anybody else like this? It's probably one of my favorite tracks...the fingerpicking is amazing, Mikael is butt evil on vox, and the riffs are great as well. Severely underrated track.

i am the robots 10-25-2005 06:47 PM

Yes, that song is quite fantastic IMO.

Killtacular 10-25-2005 07:12 PM

I love Deliverance. All of it.

Greatness. So heavy, yet so great.

Yeah, actually kind of funny that it's labeled their "HEAVY" album yet 1/3 of the songs are without death metal vox. Heh. The rest is pretty heavy though. A fair Judgement will always be my favorite.

Darkness 10-25-2005 08:36 PM

I think its their heaviest...

Yeah me too, except for AFJ and FAF

I don't think its underrated.. although the album as a whole is somewhat underrated. Its an awesome song, but I thought the ending was poor. It seems really disjointed and strange, although the screaming is sweet.

The song does start to fall apart at the end, but that kinda adds to the whole insanity feel of the song.

I love Deliverence, but I love the other albums more.

Please type the full song name, what's so hard about that? It's not a chat room. You have plenty of time to type, not to mention you used punctuation in that sentence. :p

Are you talking about the song Deliverance? I think it builds up to the end. That last riff makes the song, in my opinion. That riff is so mesmerizing!

It fades out with double bass...how is that falling apart? That song is so lethal.
