Porcupine Tree. Such an amazing band

OrbDragon 08-09-2005 05:25 AM

Slint - Spiderland
Ween - Chocolate & Cheese
dEUS - In A Bar Under The Sea
Ani DiFranco - Knuckle Down

Zappa 08-09-2005 10:38 AM

Ydload amazes me quite frequently. That Tangy impersonation was great.

Soundgardener 08-09-2005 11:18 AM

I've been getting into some post-rock stuff lately--Godspeed! you black emporer, Explosions in the Sky, Sigur Ros.

Also I've been listen to more jazz-fusion--Soft Machine, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Brand X, OHM.

Tomahawk 08-09-2005 11:31 AM

Peter Gabriel and lots of it. Especially his 3rd album. Especially 'Family Snapshot'.

Patti Smith - Horses
Joy Division - Unknown Pleasures

Three completely different albums. But they are all great.

biografiend 08-09-2005 03:58 PM

Mercury Radio Theater - Manhattan Zombie Massacre
Sufjan Stevens - Illinois

both nice albums.

Good job.

Robert Crumb 08-09-2005 05:12 PM

Stevie Wonder - Music of My Mind
Patti Smith - Horses
Tom Waits - Mule Variations
Isaac Hayes - Hot Buttered Soul

"Walk On By" off of Hot Buttered Soul is quite possibly the greatest song ever.

Katamari Damacy OST

Next to FF's, it's the best video game soundtrack evah.

Big Heavy Stuff - Size of the Ocean
Mark Sandman - Sandbox
Harkonen/These Arms Are Snakes - Like A Virgin
David Axelrod - Songs Of Experience

Zappa, is the DVD that comes with the Sandman box set any good?

JonM 08-09-2005 07:19 PM

Roy Harper - Stormcock

This album will blow you away. It's absolutely incredible. It makes Nick Drake nearly irrelevant.

Jam2Me 08-09-2005 09:16 PM

Matt Costa - Songs We Sing

Very different from what I expected, but I really like this album, a pleasant surprise.

Yeah. It's got some early music videos, a few very low quality live performance videos, and some really great interviews. If you like the music and have some extra cash, I would recommend picking up the set.

YDload 08-09-2005 09:55 PM

Wow, I should have listened to the song "Close to the Edge" with headphones earlier. I forget how terrible my laptop's speakers are and there's no bass support at all. I must hear Chris Squire!

Tapeworm 08-09-2005 10:49 PM

The Knife and Television.

JonM 08-09-2005 10:50 PM
The Knife and Television.
We had an AIM listening party to Marquee Moon last week. It was awesome. You should have been there.

Tapeworm 08-10-2005 12:44 AM

Indeed I should have.

I had a bedroom listening party to it last night. That was cool too.

The NPC 08-10-2005 01:35 AM

Ignition - Orafying Mysticle of...Ignition

br3ad_man 08-10-2005 02:00 AM

Tapeworm's back! Are you going to stay for a while this time?

I've been listening to Between The Buried and Me, getting excited for the new album. And a new JB opened 10 minutes walk from my house. Brian Eno albums for $13? Yes please.

I Was A Kaleidoscope 08-10-2005 02:23 AM

JB are the only place that have all the albums I want. Everywhere else in this city has like no selection whatsoever.

charolastra 08-10-2005 02:29 AM

i'm digging mos def :p

I've found JB to be pretty overrated, but this new one has so much obscure metal, it's awesome. Their jazz is piss poor. If you can, order off amazon, it's dead cheap, even from the US.
Ydload amazes me quite frequently. That Tangy impersonation was great.
I laughed in the middle of maths today about it.

Most CD stores here are all mainstream, so it is really hard to find a lot of things.
