Well, it hurts when I'm getting in close to where my beard stops. It like catches some of the beard hair, which hurts.
why do people use shaving cream
It's a preference. Some people like it black.
CHECK US OUT, WE'RE PLAYING 3 TOTALLY DIFFERENT SONGS AT ONCE
There's just absolutely no sense of direction or melody (dissonant or no).

It's like a really really bad low-rent version of Psyopus. (Not that they're great either, but I do like them a little)
why do people use shaving cream
It's better for your skin. My hair is fairly coarse I think. I also use after shave. That's probably pretty metrosexual, come to think of it. Maybe I should start shaving with just a cane knife and water.

EDIT: I wish my broadband cap would go away so I could watch the youtube video of Behold... The Arctopus' guitarist and bassist failing to play their own song.

"Hey, we're Behold... The Arctopus' and we're going to play for you Alcoholocaust.

*guitarist and bassist begin to play completely different songs*

Am I wrong or doesn't shaving cream act like a buffer between the razor and your skin?

I only have to shave maybe once every few days, and I don't have full facial growth yet. :(

Under the jaw, a little on the chin and the upper lip are the only places that have started coming in.

Tyler 10-02-2007 05:06 PM

The best way to get a great shave is using the right stuff.
The perfect shave has three ingredients: a good razor, a good brush, and glycerin-based shaving cream. But the biggest difference between wetshaving and the way most guys shave today is the use of a shaving brush. A good badger-hair shaving brush is the single most important ingredient in getting the perfect shave -- if you change no part of your shaving routine except to add a good shaving brush to the mix, you’ll be astounded at how much better and more enjoyable your shaves become.
The brush is to apply the cream?

Tyler 10-02-2007 05:09 PM
The brush is to apply the cream?
Yeah, and it's actual cream, not that foam ****. It comes in a tub container.

Angmar 10-02-2007 05:09 PM

I use an electric razor, and just put gel on my face when I'm done. I hate bothering with cream and a manual razor, also it makes my face go crazy with acne.

You shave with the grain first, that clears off the shaving cream. You'll find the shaving cream softens the stubble and makes the razor "glide". Then you go up against the grain to get the shave even closer, without the shaving cream there.

TojesDolan 10-02-2007 05:15 PM

I use a bottle and cacti to shave

a bottle of tequila of course i must add duh

Riva 10-02-2007 05:17 PM

A lot of aftershave is alcohol based, which is stupid. HEY GUYS LET'S MAKE SURE YOUR SKIN IS DRIED OUT EVEN MORE AFTER SHAVING!

I use a really thick cream, none of that frothy crap. But I haven't yet procured a badger brush.

I want to get a nice set-up (Badger brush, better cream, safety razor) but I havent gotten around to it.

publicastration 10-02-2007 05:22 PM

I didn't realize the razor was so important... I just use a gilette mach 3.

But I don't have much to shave yet. :p

TojesDolan 10-02-2007 05:22 PM

I use soap.

Equus 10-02-2007 05:22 PM

i use a bic razor lol

Riva 10-02-2007 05:23 PM

I think, to be honest, I'm too lazy to do the badger brush routine. It is definitely awesome, I once volunteered for a shaving at the local TAFE with this apprentice barber (a girl, funnily enough). Badger brush, that really smooth cream they use and a cut-throat razor. Best shave ever.

TojesDolan 10-02-2007 05:24 PM

I'vebeen using the same razor for 2 months.

pate 10-02-2007 05:28 PM

Electric razors are so much nicer though, its way more convenient too, I guess its a personal preference thing though.

Riva 10-02-2007 05:31 PM

Do you do your bikini line too, Angmar?

Kage 10-02-2007 05:32 PM

Give the kid a break, he's only 8.

TojesDolan 10-02-2007 05:58 PM

lol high school musical

PinkFreud 10-02-2007 06:11 PM

It moisturizes the hair as well. Most people who don't use it shave in the shower which gives a similar moisturization.

TojesDolan 10-02-2007 06:14 PM

I can't believe the local indie scene.

It sounds like old bands and almost as generic and copypasta versions of music that I find original and fun, except watered down and mexicanized.

Ugh.

i am the robots 10-02-2007 06:18 PM

That's everywhere dude.

Minus the Mexican part.

TojesDolan 10-02-2007 06:39 PM

I use an acoustic trimmer.

It works with frequencies.

Permanent Solution 10-02-2007 06:41 PM

Tojes lies he's an electrical engineer so obviously everything he uses is electric.

Kage 10-02-2007 06:42 PM

Electrical engineers are important in this society.

Permanent Solution 10-02-2007 06:47 PM

I am important it's true.
