I thought it was lame how Palpatine seemed to randomly select the name Vader. I wish there was more reason behind the name.

'Tender - this is nothing like Agalloch. If that's what you expect, prepare to be very disappointed.
I will agree with the first thing you said there. I would have liked to know why he picked Vader, instead of just randomly saying it.

I just got back from a Big Pretty and the Red Rockets concert, and it was incredible. You guys should really check this band out.

Dancin' Man 05-27-2005 07:52 PM

I wish they had Vader playing in the background when the name was chosen. That would've added major cool factor in my mind. Imagine, an audio cameo.

That's a decent idea, but it wouldn't have fit the movie at all.

Apocalyptic Raids 05-27-2005 08:10 PM

I think Anakin's transition to the dark side was overall just too short. I actually expected for it to happen earlier in the movie.

Kage 05-27-2005 08:12 PM

His mental breakdown happened slowly throughout the whole time.

Thor 05-27-2005 08:14 PM

Since we are on the subject of Star Wars, who else thought that General Grievous was a total badass? I sure did.

Illmatic 05-27-2005 08:16 PM

Badass?

He was the worst character in the whole freakin' movie, pal, and one of the worst movie characters of all time, period.

A hunched-over four-armed coughing droid with a Jamaican accent? So cool

Am I the only one who thought that Samuel L. Jackson should have played a main villain?

Bartender 05-27-2005 08:17 PM

Probably. I thought he just shouldn't have been there.

Apocalyptic Raids 05-27-2005 08:17 PM

I meant the actual fall to the Dark Side, I was expecting him to fall earlier and have a longer tranistion.

EDIT: I thought Grevious was an absolute coward. Although I saw the Animated Clone Wars Pt. 1 yesterday and he was a little less cowarly than in the movie.

Kage 05-27-2005 08:17 PM

Am I the only one who thinks Samuel L. Jackson should never be in another movie?

Well I just thought that he looked cool when he whipped out four lightsabers, that's all.

Samuel L. Jackson would have made a cool bad guy, but I thought he did a decent job as Mace Windu.

Kage 05-27-2005 08:19 PM

He's a terrible actor, I don't know how he gets so many parts.

Thor 05-27-2005 08:19 PM

Am I the only one who thinks you should be murdered--or at least castrated--for saying this?
In other news.. It's so ****ING hot here in Seattle. It's about 92-93.. theres's a serious heat wave where we are. It's supposed to be gone by Monday. My house doesn't have airconditioning.. so every hour or so i put my feet into a freezing cold ice bath. I'm dying.. Seattle was not meant to be this hot.
NO I CAN'T STOP YELLIN' CAUSE THA'S HOW I TALK. MM MM BITCH.

Dave Chappelle is one funny man.

Guh?

You ever seen Pulp Fiction?

Name me one actor who could pull of Jules Winfield. I dare ya. I double-dog dare ya, muthafucka.

I meant to mention that he should have stopped after Pulp Fiction, but I re-worded my sentence and left it out.
He's a terrible actor.
C'mon, what about Stacks Edwards? He owned that role

Illmatic 05-27-2005 08:27 PM

He does make a few crummy movies (Changing Lanes comes immediately into mind, S.W.A.T and Deep Blue Sea are in there too) more watchable.

And I think he's much, much better than Denzel Washington

But that's just my opinion.

Kage 05-27-2005 08:28 PM

Never seen that one. Most of the movies I've seen him in, his performance is laughable.

Thor 05-27-2005 08:29 PM

In terms of acting skill, I would say that Samuel L. Jackson and Denzel Washington are about equal.

...how's it taste, mutha****a!!!!! :thumb:

Illmatic 05-27-2005 08:29 PM

Bah, what do you know. You probably like faggy actors anyway

And to Samuel L.'s credit, he hasn't starred in a movie nearly as atrocious as Remember The Titans.

Kage 05-27-2005 08:31 PM
Bah, what do you know. You probably like faggy actors anyway
Deep Blue Sea was so amateur it was laughable. No one can redeem himself in my eyes after that. When he got eaten by the shark during his big lecture, it was extremely relivieng because I was cringing more with every line he said.

YDload 05-27-2005 08:31 PM

If you don't like Samuel L. Jackson, make sure to watch Deep Blue Sea ;)

Bartender 05-27-2005 08:31 PM

What's Denzel Washington got to do with it?

Illmatic 05-27-2005 08:31 PM

Deep Blue Sea was still much, much better than Remember The Titans

Kage 05-27-2005 08:32 PM

You're kidding, right?

Thor 05-27-2005 08:33 PM

I didn't like either of those movies, actually. Deep Blue Sea was just all around lame and I've seen Remember the Titans too many times against my will. I've lost my liking for both of them.

Illmatic 05-27-2005 08:33 PM

Hell no.

Deep Blue Sea was a horrible movie, but as you said, it's laughable.

Remember The Titans was a horrible movie, but it's infuriating, patronizing shit with the most implausible football and non-football scenes in any serious sports movie.

Kage 05-27-2005 08:34 PM

Okay, but I thought John Q. was an extremely powerful movie. I've never been moved by anything from Samuel L. Also, Manchurian Candidate was a brilliant movie in my opinion.

Badmoon 05-27-2005 08:35 PM

Samuel L. Jackson in XXX: State of the Union

'nough said.

I think you're coming off a bit harsh on Remember the Titans. It's not that bad.

Illmatic 05-27-2005 08:36 PM

I never saw John Q.

The Manchurian Candidate was a really unnecessary remake...it was a dud IMO.

Training Day was good, but nothing Samuel L. couldn't do.

Malcolm X was good and I don't think Samuel L. could pull it off.
I think you're coming off a bit harsh on Remember the Titans. It's not that bad.
Yes it is.

Kage 05-27-2005 08:37 PM

Are you kidding me? Samuel couldn't pull of Training Day if his life depended on it. That was a great, believable performance. Nothing Samuel L. does is believable to me.

Illmatic 05-27-2005 08:38 PM

So you're saying Samuel L. couldn't play a corrupt cop living on the edge?

Hah.

It would be like Pacino doing a De Niro role: He'd do it well in a different way.

Kage 05-27-2005 08:38 PM

Not with that much charisma, realism, and power, no.

Illmatic 05-27-2005 08:40 PM

He'd still do it well.

On the flip side, no way does Denzel pull off Jules in Pulp Fiction.

Thor 05-27-2005 08:40 PM

Why don't we start talking about better actors now?

Kage 05-27-2005 08:41 PM

In my mind, they're different types of actors....how did the comparison come up anyway?
