I never let anyone borrow my stuff. Honestly, all I ever hear about letting people borrow things, is that you never get your stuff back. My brother does that, borrows and never returns. He is very subtle about it, not taking big things, but he generally pulls it off. I just don't trust anyone.

I'm the same way. I pretty much hate people and can't really trust anyone.

So, after having the socialist flag as my avatar for the past few weeks, I've had quite the time. It seems as if alot of discussion about socialism has happened in the politics forum and here in recent times. So I've been debating it alot, since I do in fact believe in socialism. I've realized one thing: alot of people against socialism are incompetent and ignorant. They know very little about it. Like in the Socialism thread in the punk forum, someone said something like "socialism is flawed from the start, i much prefer a democracy" Everyone has the same argument against it.
"people r lazy"
"human nature prevents it"
"capitalism rulez!"
"if i work hard as i can, i should make more money then everyone else!"
"OmG, look at the ussr, they sucked"
"dictatorships are scary"
(However there have been intelligent people debating it very well. Props to them, you should know who you are)
It's like in 1984, when the Party censors the past. They make it as if their way of life is the only one and it can't get any better. That past ways of life failed miserably because the people were hideously oppressed. I can see it perfectly well in my school system and it's history books. The history books express communism under the totalitarian leaders such as Stalin. None of them actually teach what communism/socialism is or stands for. I guess capitalism won the Cold War, and to the victor goes the spoils.

it just matters as to what u believe in. i can see why some people wouldn't enjoy living in a socialist society. but if everything worked out fine, socialism would be great. there would be no poverty, there would be no tension between the classes because for the most part, everything would be equal. communism/socialism is good in theory, but when it is put into action, human nature messes it all up. and because of the history behind it, people will be against it.

I see what you mean JmE. I too am a socialist. I hear the same arguments as you do. Everyone refuses anything that goes against what they are used to. They argue that human nature won't allow, but fail to realise human nature can change.

There's no such thing as human nature really. I have yet to see anyone actually come up with the genes or the DNA code or whatever that represent human nature. There are some really intelligent people who make good points against socialism though. I just get sick of the same old one-liners that people say against it.

Man, we really need another mod, but if we ask we probably won't be answered, look how long it took us to get DK as mod. The n00bs are ridiculus (sp?) and will only worsen as school gets out.

The adminstrator is never around that's the problem. I mean, us local mods have been complaining because we are still limited to 50x50 pixel avatars and it hasn't been fixed.

Methinks MX is getting lazy with his forum.

He should get another Admin like Sting-Ray or someone.
Bump some mods up to supermods
Add more local mods.
Depending upon the situation with Eric (Lithinfingers) he could bring him back.

Eric? Ha, I don't like him much. I knew he would fall out of touch and have issues with the site the moment he was brought on. His old name was banned on this site and if you ever saw his antics on tabcrawler you might know what I'm talking about. He will never come back to the site anyway. He left on really bad terms

I was weary of Eric right when I stepped into The Pit for the first time. I don't see why MX ever trusted him with supermod powers.
