no..
Are you a guitarist?
i really dont see why people want to mosh i went there to see a show not get the **** kicked out of me....i really dont get it.
I hate that sh!t too man, front row for Lamb of God and all the way through there was just people pushing constantly, people crowd surfing (OUCH!!) getting kicked in the head from that, hands in the air, it's complete madness but I only go down there to get clsoe to the bands and I sure as hell am going to do that for Bodom!!

Sooo I'm guessing that's why the other non-moshers do it too.

I was in the pit for Slipknot too and it was sooo irritating, I crowd surfed myself out just so I wouldn't kill anyone.

tattered_kuma 10-28-2005 08:16 PM

ive never moshed myself but i have some friends who are nuts about it they're always going on about it and they say its awesome when sombody like kicks you in the face or something i just dont get that why would you pay like 50 bucks to get crushed under hundreds of people and get the **** kicked out of you?

Shadows 10-28-2005 10:40 PM

Moshing is for killing time. You don't mosh during a band you like - you mosh because you don't care about the music but you like the energy of the show. When you like the music, you listem and maybe do some headbanging. The only time I ever moshed was at a ska show when my friend pushed my into the pit. Fun, but kind of a waste of time.

Toaster 10-28-2005 11:17 PM

You pretty much have to be over 6' to be in a mosh pit and hope to survive. Since I don't fit this criteria, I can't say much about it.. only that I think it's pretty stupid and pointless. It's more of a macho "yeah I'm tough" thing IMO, and it seems sort of senseless; you see a lot of people getting injured at big metal concerts.

Shadows 10-28-2005 11:21 PM

Not true. I'm a fairly short guy (about 5'6", maybe a little taller) moshing with a crowd of bigger guys, and I was fine. The trick is to never fall down, or else you'll be trampled.

Moshing is senseless. It can also be pretty insane. The first time I saw Shadows Fall live, some guy broke his leg pretty nicely during their first song. A security guy had to help him out since he was hopping on one foot.

Yeah, I'm generalizing, but I'd feel like I was in constant danger in a mosh pit. Weighing over 130 pounds would help me I think. Crowdsurfing is way more fun, less dangerous and sometimes the band lets you on stage! :thumb:

MRDuCran 10-28-2005 11:38 PM

Holy sh!t have any of you guys seen the video of Lamb of God at Ozzfest, there's a massive space in the crowd and people in the middle just running round and literally doing roundhouse kicks and proper punches and arm swings but not hitting anyone, it's fukkin insane, and pretty stupid. If I had the choice, I'd walk in there and hack the kunts up with a chainsaw or something.

Shadows 10-28-2005 11:41 PM

You just described "hardcore dancing".

And one more reason for me to hate Lamb of God.

Actually, I did see that, its the Black Label video I think. I saw that back when I was getting into metal; I had no idea what they were trying to do. Now that I've seen it with my own eyes I can say it's one of the funniest yet most pointless "dances" ever.

I saw LoG at Download, there were a few hardcore dancers, but not too many, more people were just moshing. And there was a HUGE circle pit. I hate hardcore dancers with a passion, they're idiots.

Got it in one really.

Moshing is fun (and not as violent as people make it out to be either), but purely for atmosphere and energy. In bands I really like, I would rather just crush up at the front and enjoy the show rather than mosh. However, for other bands (e.g. metalcore support acts who are generally pretty energising) I would mosh.

Lil’ Bloodred Ridin’ Hood 10-29-2005 12:50 PM

I would be killed in a mosh pit, trust me i would end up falling down in the beggining and then get trampeled by a bunch of huge men and there huge feet :p

Ditto to all of that post. I hate them.

I was also at download this year but fortunately I was at the front so I wasn't involved with the massive pit.

repcak 10-29-2005 03:24 PM

i'm gonna see CoB on 6.1.2006 in Vienna and on the 7th they are playing in a city near my parents house... so i think i will go twice :D
