A true fan wouldn't need that CD! Just joking...I just got the Paul McCartney and Jeremy Yellow Submarine action figure :) I'm awesome...oo and before the day is done...Happy B-Day Lennon...how old would he be hmm 66?
Hah, a true fan would know.

I've seen those yellow submarine action figures before. They're pretty cool. Not as cool as my Slash action figure though, haha.

Seafroggys 10-10-2006 01:12 AM

I own all the Yellow Submarine Action Figures.....bitches!

Ephemeral 10-10-2006 08:42 AM

I have Anthology 1

It sucks : /

Seafroggys 10-10-2006 12:33 PM

it has Free as a Bird. It makes the entire album worthwhile.

robo2448 10-10-2006 03:33 PM

That's an awesome song.

Happy B-day John, a day late. I wore my Lennon shirt yesterday though:cool:

Ephemeral 10-10-2006 03:35 PM

Happy b-day john

rockinbass17 10-10-2006 04:55 PM

I always think about what John would say if he saw those Yellow Submarine action figures. Or John Lennon Converse shoes, etc.

robo2448 10-10-2006 05:05 PM

I got those yellow submarine action figures for christmas when I was younger. I wonder if I still have them. I'd probably appreciate them more now.

El_Goodo 10-16-2006 12:41 AM

Please Please Me is a truly great cd...it was my favourite for a while. But now I think im content to stick with Rubber Soul as my all time favourite...I'm Looking Through You may be my favourite Paul song...the line "Why tell me why did you not treat me right, love has a nasty habit of disappearing overnight" is brilliant. Speaking of that song...the version of the 2nd Anthology is really cool.

El_Goodo 10-16-2006 06:08 PM

Alright I've got an idea...a little game to get things going...why don't we make a fantasy beatles cd...using the beatles seperate solo tracks, limit it to one disc, and name it..I'll go

Photograph Ringo Starr/George Harrison
This is a really great and over looked song written by George/Ringo (released by Ringo).

Jealous Guy John Lennon
One of the best works of Lennon's solo work, with the combined minds of the rest of the Beatles it probably could have been even better...and maybe would have been called Child Of Nature.

Mind Games John Lennon
The lyrics represent what the beatles and Lennon were all about..."Love is the answer...and you know that for sure."

Band On The Run Paul McCartney
This song already sounds like an Abbey Road-esque Beatles song. It would have been great to hear the rest of them singing along in the chorus.

Let Me Roll It Paul McCartney
This would have made a great beatles rocker, killer riff and catchy chorus.

It Don't Come Easy Ringo Starr/George Harrison
This is probably ringos defining solo track, and it's already half way to being a Beatles song.

All Things Must Pass George Harrison
Although it wouldn't have the sentimentel feeling it did having been released quickly after the break up of the beatles, it would still remain a classic song.

Isn't It A Pity George Harrison
Another song with lyrics that describe what The Beatles/George were all about...peace, love, and happiness. "Isn't it a pity...how we break eachothers hearts and cause eachother pain?"

Apple Scruffs George Harrison
Insanely catchy song written for The Beatles fans who would stand outside Apple HQ's.

Gimme Some Truth John Lennon
Following in the vein of Revolution this song would have been another one to bring the Beatles some contraversy.

How? John Lennon
This is a really great and tender love song. Would have been another moment in the Beatles history (like Julia) where we see the tender side of John.

Just Another Day Paul McCartney
John would have called this song "completley Paul" it has the same vibe as Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da.

Live and Let Die Paul McCartney
I could see John wishing he wrote this one...the line "Live and Let Die" really has a John vibe to it.

Tracklisting
1.) Let Me Roll It
2.) Gimme Some Truth
3.) It Don't Come Easy
4.) Band On The Run
5.) Apple Scruffs
6.) Just Another Day
7.) Jealous Guy
8.) Photograph
9.) How?
10.) Isn't It A Pity
11.) Mind Games
12.) Live and Let Die
13.) All Things Must Pass

Edit: Forgot the title...I'm thinking maybe they'd name it after Band On The Run...I could see some hilarious cover art with the boys.

Seafroggys 10-17-2006 01:43 AM

I like John's contributions a lot: Gimme Some Truth and How are some of the best songs ever made.

Yeah, both of Ringo's tracks make good. Live and Let Die probably would have had a much better studio version had it been done by The Beatles, it was way too symphonic and non-rock instrument orientated.

run don't walk 10-20-2006 08:52 PM

I really want to start getting the Beatles' CDs but should I get the versions out now or the reissues that are supposedly coming out?

Seafroggys 10-20-2006 11:54 PM

re-issues?

The CD issues of their original 13 albums were released in 1987, so they feature 1987 digital enhacement technology. I wouldn't say its bad, I have no problem with it, but with that said it is extremely dated tech. Practically all other vinyl era bands have had CD re-issues since the mid 90s.

El_Goodo 10-28-2006 09:17 PM

Fourth page...that is sad.

Leper 10-29-2006 05:05 PM

Yeah supposedly they are coming out with re-issues probably just in time for Christmas.

Wait until the reissues come out, and wait for reviews on them to come in. Alot of times the newer versions sound really good (better than the original digital release) and other times they sound awful.

And as I listen to Something......its been a long hard 5 years.

I remember that day so well. I know many of you guys weren't fans back then, but believe me, it was so hard. So so hard. Even knowing several weeks in advance that it would be terminal. We didn't find out until tomorrow (they released the info on the 30th), but....god damn.

George Harrison.........your sun will never set. And its all right.

The End of The World 11-30-2006 02:06 AM

I've got about 10 albums on vinyl now and got a record player to listen to them finally.

Danger Bird 12-02-2006 03:06 PM

Vinyl is the only way to lisen to The Beatles.

Seafroggys 12-02-2006 03:46 PM
Vinyl is the only way to lisen to The Beatles.
eh, I'm probably the biggest fans on these forums and I think I've only listened to the Beatles Yesterday and Today vinyl (even though my parents have them all). I've heard all their songs on cassette though.

BludgeonySteve 12-03-2006 03:59 AM

The vinyl does sound a lot better than cds but I can't be bothered :(

Sgt pepper's lonely hearts club band dunnununununununu ziomg. Man thas goood.

rockinbass17 12-03-2006 11:14 AM

While I've never been a fan of SPLHCB as a whole album, there's a few really great songs on there. I recently listened to "Within You, Without You" and realized how amazing it is. I love George's songs.
