if anyone is bored, check out my friends soudclick page
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/writePage.cfm?bandid=235668&bandnamesave=witekschmitek
and by 'friend' i don't mean its me, he's the bassist from my old band
he's a bit....weird
Very...odd..sounding...i didnt really like his tone.

PaulSimonon 04-24-2005 03:37 PM

I'm just double checking the formulas I have and understand right now....

For Parallel:

1/R1+1/R2+1/R3 etc =1/T

For Series:

R1+R2+R3 etc = T

Where R= resistance and T= the total resitance of the circuit.
through air that is aprox. 20 degrees Celcius, the speed of sound is roughly 431 meters per second,
the wavelength is done in meters (1 centimeter= .01 of a meter, milimeter= .001 so on so on)
and frequeny is done in hertz (Hz) look an any physics website and it will tell you all about the physics of sound.
Im off for a while, later guys.

neal_672 04-24-2005 03:43 PM

Ciao Justin

That is correct.
That is correct.
Thanks. I thought it was! I'd go insane if it wasn't.

Any more SIMPLE bass related math things? I REALLY wish I had that map of open harmonics.....

Sorry I can't help you there.

PaulSimonon 04-24-2005 03:53 PM

Argg, I can't have a 15 minute presentation on adding up resistance...

*looks for harmonic map*

C'mon, SOMEONE has to have another idea....

Please?

I'm sure Gav will have something...

fatbandit 04-24-2005 03:55 PM

I think I'm off in a few moments...

neal_672 04-24-2005 03:58 PM

Ciao Chris

PaulSimonon 04-24-2005 03:58 PM

I found it! Ahahahahaha! And a lengthy explaination about the math behind it! :naughty:

Fret spacing? There must be a formula for that somewhere...

/crappy idea

PaulSimonon 04-24-2005 04:02 PM

Good idea! I'll look for that as well, and how it is correlative to scale length.

rh15951 04-24-2005 04:04 PM

http://www.bsharp.org/physics/stuff/guitar.html

Thats more physics and maths really but theres some stuff about harmonics and fret spacing.

PaulSimonon 04-24-2005 04:06 PM

You rock! :chug:

rh15951 04-24-2005 04:12 PM

No problem :chug:

PaulSimonon 04-24-2005 04:15 PM

Hmm, There's a symbol in that overtone equasion that I don't know the meaning of... Could you help me out?

I owe you man.

PaulSimonon 04-24-2005 04:16 PM

Silly me, I think it means wavelength.

PaulSimonon 04-24-2005 04:20 PM

Argg, I'd like to figure out the density and tension of my strings, so I could use that second equasion. Unless I don't get it altogether.

rh15951 04-24-2005 04:20 PM

Yeah its wavelength. Do you mean the one that kinda looks like an upside-down 'Y' Its Greek and called Lamda λ (don't know if symbols will show up)

rh15951 04-24-2005 04:22 PM

http://www.phy.mtu.edu/~suits/notefreqs.html

Frequencies of notes. E1 is low E ona 4 string bass :thumb:

rh15951 04-24-2005 04:23 PM

^^ Just so you don't need to derive the wavelengths :thumb:

Yeh, that's it. Thanks! (I don't know Greek very well... I know some Latin though.)

Man, you are awesome. Seriosuly, thanks a lot.

rh15951 04-24-2005 04:26 PM

I only know Greek letters through Physics. I guess we ran out of English ones for stuff huh?

This is helping my insomnia too :)

Its 23:30 here. Is no-one else online? It seems like we turned the casual into the maths/physics thread

mrwanker 04-24-2005 04:31 PM

Do any of you guys know if a Pearl River Bass is any good?

rh15951 04-24-2005 04:31 PM

hey eddie

My postcount is really high. I kind of want to lower it.

PaulSimonon 04-24-2005 04:33 PM

I think you should make a lesson on this stuff.

rh15951 04-24-2005 04:34 PM

I'm off. Good luck with your assignment Paul (I assume thats your name).

Night all

neal_672 04-24-2005 04:34 PM

I just realised i've leaped to 5th highest poster in the Casual, i'm such a spam whore, i'm even beating Quatre :amaze:
