Yeah rack tuners are kind of excessive unless you want a giant fiddly rig.

You didnt have one in your rack before you downsized? I love mine. Nice big display, constantly on (great for fretless training), accurate, mute option, and if anybody on stage needs to, they can plug into it. It's light, so it's a convenient thing to have in my rig.

Black on rosewood on skinny guy = win(?)

My rack was a 4u, only 3u was used (2u poweramp, 1 u preamp). When I first started with rack stuff about two years ago, that 4th slot was filled with a power distributor/rack light. But it was useless, so I shifted it and never filled it again, just used a blank 1u plate. The light was a nice idea, but my amp is way below my eyeline, so the light just obscured things. I've never been on a stage so dark I couldn't use my amp properly.

I can see my tuner on my pedalboard just as easily as a rack one, it's always on as well (in the tuner out of my volume pedal - can be muted too with my foot with the volume pedal), as accurate as a rack tuner.

And if anybody onstage needs to use a tuner, they can bloody well buy their own. Dicks.

Yeah, rocking up to gigs without equipment and hoping to hook up a replacement with no notice is ridiculous.

It's fine if people want to ring around before the night, and organise a shared backline, there's several advantages to that, but just showing up with no notice and hoping someone will bail you out (or, "expecting" would be more accurate to people's attitudes) is really poor form.

Simply for the reason that, in the incredibly unlikely event that they do ruin it, what's my guarantee that they'll foot the bill? Short of asking them for a $5000 deposit there isn't much I can do to ensure my own security in that situation.

Funny story, one band offered to let all the drummers use his kit. My drummer broke his kick pedal because "it was ****."

Moral of the story: Don't lend people stuff.

I didn't mind lending my old rig to people for monitoring because it was ****, but my new one is expensive vintage equipment. So, yeah, the answer is no.

No no :lol: accidentally, because of it's inferior quality. That band also screwed us and gave us $100 out of about 900 (between 3 bands) and we'd brought over half the crowd. After we stopped and they came out to headline most people left.

They got their just deserts though, the drummer left shortly after and they're also down a guitarist now.

$900 between 3 bands, less what, $150 for the sound guy, you should have gotten around $250 each less the venue's booking fee.

It's a bit too late. In all fairness we did take like 2 months to invoice the money. But still, we feel they got their just deserts and we won't be playing with them again unless we're headlining. There's no way they could carry us, far too quiet-a-band.

It's not if you pour it into a glass.

There's a *huge* raging debate (and I speak as a lowly bottle-o guy) about which one is better. There's about a 30/70 split (cans/stubbies) when it comes to most domestic beers. Personally, if you're drinking domestic **** you're not drinking for taste and I'll go for whatever is better value at the time. Much of a muchness.

There's some many people who will pay the same amount, if not more, to continue getting one or the other in spite of better value/greater quantity, however. i.e. will pay $37 for a 24 case of stubbies rather than 38 for a 30 box of cans.

The only beer I've ever come across where I've actually cared (still not enough to go out of my way or pay extra) to make a judgement call is Sapporo. The 650ml cans are absolutely superb. Still steel and everything.

The fact that they cost about 3 times as much as stubbies and are harder to come by usually deter me.

At the end of the day it's all about convenience. If I'm sitting at home or going to a party I'll get bottles. Camping, fishing, anywhere you want them colder quicker or don't have a huge bin; cans.

Sounds about right. The only drinking I really do anymore is very rarely at a pub or something so it's always just in a glass.

For a while, Bud Light made aluminum cans. It was interesting and stayed cold FOREVER.

I usually drink beer from a bottle whenever possible because I've cut my lip on a can once before and I don't want to do it again.

On top of that, after researching the negatives of smoking from metal pipes vs. glass, glass just seems like the more sterile substance, and it's re-usable by microbrewers (I'm starting to brew my own beer this weekend).

As far as flavor is concerned, I've never noticed a difference. I tend to drink a lot of lagers and ales from lesser-known companies, so you almost never find a can.

Glass pipes definitely the way to go. I've never actually seen anyone smoke out of metal other than the ghetto way of smoking stuff out of can bottoms.
